Gail Tessler and Norma Menkin were best friends and business partners the moment they met 40+ years ago. Their instant deep friendship and business partnership inspired Gainor (Gail + Norma) - a women-owned firm committed to equal opportunity and changing the lives of candidates and business leaders. Norma talks about Gail and their instant connection like it was yesterday - how they each wanted to have 2 kids and would plan their maternity leaves strategically. They were completely in sync personally and professionally, so obviously that they finished each other’s sentences. In 1982, it wasn’t easy for 2 women to start a business in New York City, and get the funding they needed, but their relationship enabled them to persevere through it all. Gainor was inspired by the life changing impact that a great fit can have when people are aligned with a role and a vision for a business. They were family, and the power of that partnership was the nucleus from which they built Gainor. Cheers to these 2 women, and to all the women just getting started - we’re in this together ❤️ #IWD2025

Great article with excellent reminders about salary negotiation! I'll add that even when you're partnering with a recruiter who is negotiating on your behalf, the principles of non-aggression, avoiding over-negotiation, and expressing gratitude still apply. Your recruiter is your partner, an advocate, but also building relationships. A respectful, appreciative approach empowers them to effectively represent you while maintaining valuable connections. A win-win mindset is essential! #salarynegotiation #recruiting #jobsearch #careers

Clear communication is vital for building strong relationships. Whether in meetings, emails, or casual chats, leaders should aim to find common ground, speak politely, and align their tone with their message. Ensuring clarity by asking questions and speaking confidently with facts helps build trust and respect. Strong communication is key to retention and engagement. How do you approach communication in your leadership?

Employee retention starts with connection, and connection begins with listening. Leaders who truly listen absorb information, understand challenges, and create a culture where employees feel heard and valued. Good listening is more than hearing words. It means setting aside distractions, staying open to different perspectives, and responding intentionally. Leaders who master this skill don’t just communicate—they engage and inspire their teams. How do you create space for active listening in your leadership style?
