This week the Federation of Gay Games board and members from all over the world convened in València, Spain, for our Annual General Assembly It’s an exciting moment because this year, the federation members will be determining the winner of the next host city for the 2030 Gay Games… Denver USA, or Perth Australia. To think that the Games, which has been around for 43 years, is run by volunteers, and that cities from all over the world go through a multi-year process to bid for the rights to host the games, really speaks to the impact that the games can have around the world. Another sad day for inclusion in professional sport. Instead of finding ways to increase participation, access and inclusion for all people, the introduction of chromosome testing in athletics (and only for women!) is not just invasive and potentially career destroying, but works to discriminate and prevent a group of people in our society from the highest levels of sport. With a lifelong passion for sports and a career dedicated to public and social impact, Sophia is bringing her leadership and vision to the Games. “Joining the Federation as Co-President felt like a natural progression in my journey to advocate for equality and inclusivity,” she shares. 🔥 A former track & field competitor and multi-sport athlete including flag football, Olympic weightlifting and athletics, she has competed in multiple Gay Games while also helping shape policies that promote diversity. The Federation of Gay Games will continue to stand firmly in allowing all athletes to participate and compete in the sport that they wish and in the gender that they choose to identify as.

Congrats to all three teams for making it to the final. And a pat on the back for all the Gay Games crew for making this happen.

It’s official. Just 3 cities remain in the running to host Gay Games XIII in 2030. Next stop will be October 2025 when we will be deciding our host city for the event. Where do you want to see the Games in 2030?

Our members and delegates have studied the potential bid cities and their proposals and this weekend will be casting their votes to decide the 3 cities which will go through to the final. Which city would you vote for?
