  • ♻️ This week is European Week for Waste Reduction. And at Essendi, we know that real impact starts upstream. 🛠 With our Think Circular design approach, we’re rethinking hotel renovation from the ground up. The goal? Reduce waste, extend value, and transform the guest experience, without compromising on style, comfort, or performance. 🌍 Think Circular is not just a concept. It's a tested, scalable solution that’s already delivering results: 🗑 80% less waste 🌱 50% lower carbon footprint 🕒 70% faster renovations 💰 20% cost savings By applying circular economy principles to hotel design, we create modular, adaptable spaces that evolve with time. Not against it. 🎥 Watch the video to explore how design can drive Positive Hospitality, and why circularity isn’t a constraint, but a lever for smarter, more sustainable growth. #WeAreEssendi #ThinkCircular #PositiveHospitality #CircularDesign #WasteReduction #EWWR2025 #Sustainability

This week, we’re highlighting someone who shows how sustainability becomes real, not through grand gestures, but through daily choices.   👨🍳At Mercure Toulouse Centre Compans, Antoine Aubry, Food & Beverage Manager, brings a modern, human approach to hospitality: one that blends operational excellence with a genuine commitment to doing things right, for guests, for teams, and for the planet.   🌍 For the European Week for Waste Reduction, his story stands out. Over the past year, Antoine and his team have managed to cut food waste by nearly 40%. Not through constraints, but through collaboration, smart data, and simple actions that make sense: rethinking portions, adapting buffets, using Orbisk | Zero Food Waste to track waste.   For him, Positive Hospitality is about creating experiences that respect both people and resources, proving that meaningful change often begins with small, intentional actions.   🤝 He empowers his team to take initiative, dares to challenge long-standing habits, and nurtures a culture where doing things responsibly becomes second nature. A way of working that reflects our belief that Positive Hospitality creates lasting value within and beyond our walls.   Discover how Antoine and his team embody Positive Hospitality, where doing good and feeling good go hand in hand.   🔗 Read the full article in comments 👇    Lionel Bouchand #WeAreEssendi #PositiveHospitality #Sustainability #FoodWasteReduction #EWWR2025 #Careerjourney #CareDareEmpower

  • From 37 applications across 11 countries to 10 shortlisted projects, and now 3 finalists preparing for the final round of our Positive Hospitality Awards.   Yesterday, each project leader had three minutes to pitch their idea: a challenging exercise that sparked lively and insightful discussions among the jury.   The selection was made by a panel combining internal and external perspectives: Franck Bermond (SVP Construction & ESG, Essendi), Cédric Durand (Group CHRO, Essendi), Sonia Gil-Gibernau (General Manager, Novotel Barcelona City), Ufi Ibrahim (CEO, Energy & Environment Alliance), Cristina Ramos-Fernandez (CSO Europe & North Africa, Accor) and Laurent Turpault (SVP Communications & Public Affairs, Essendi).   They assessed each project against five key criteria: - Scalability - Alignment - Impact - Feasibility - Innovation … ensuring that every idea selected reflects Essendi’s purpose and its commitment to Positive Hospitality.   Under the theme “places that thrive”, the projects shared demonstrate how creativity, teamwork and ambition can turn meaningful ideas into action.   🏆 Our three finalists are: • 𝘌𝘴𝘴𝘦𝘯𝘥𝘪 𝘌𝘳𝘢𝘴𝘮𝘶𝘴 presented by Kënza Simon-Auriol, Novotel Paris Centre Gare Montparnasse • 𝘐𝘣𝘪𝘴 𝘓𝘪𝘷𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘙𝘰𝘰𝘮: 𝘈𝘨𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘴𝘵 𝘓𝘰𝘯𝘦𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘴 presented by Frank Lips, ibis Rotterdam City Centre • 𝘔𝘦𝘯’𝘴 𝘊𝘰𝘰𝘬 𝘊𝘭𝘶𝘣: 𝘊𝘩𝘢𝘱𝘴 𝘸𝘩𝘰 𝘊𝘩𝘰𝘱 presented by Claudia Susanu, ibis Cambridge Central Station   👏 Congratulations to these teams! • 🌍 European Week for Waste Reduction starts now! At Essendi, we’re proud to spotlight one of our key sustainability initiatives: our Food Waste Reduction Program.   With around 20% of all food produced lost or wasted globally (UNEP Food Waste Index 2024), we chose to take action where we can make a real difference… in our hotels.   Launched in April 2024, our program aims to reduce food waste by 30% by 2026.   This ambitious target is backed by a structured methodology, tailored to each hotel’s food offering and operational reality. Hotels are categorized into three groups based on annual food costs, allowing for customized action plans that address specific needs and waste sources.   Our approach is built on three pillars: ✅ Empowering our teams: through training and coaching to challenge habits and inspire lasting change. ⚙️ Leveraging smart technology: with partners like Winnow and Orbisk | Zero Food Waste, helping us measure, understand and reduce waste at every step. 🤝 Creating local impact: by partnering with social impact companies or NGOs.   And the results speak for themselves: 🔺 100+ hotels involved in the program 🔺 Avoiding ~450,000g of CO₂ annually 🔺 While saving over €5 million portfolio-wide 🔺 Partnerships that turn unavoidable waste into new value: from biowaste recovery to local solidarity initiatives 🔺 ADEME sponsorship supporting scale-up and sector learning   Behind every improvement are our teams - chefs, F&B managers, culinary brigades, GMs - who rethink production, embrace new tools, and champion more responsible ways of working.   👏 This week, we want to celebrate their energy and reaffirm our ambition: to reduce food waste by 30% and roll out best practices across all Essendi hotels by 2026.   Want to know more about our approach?
