BREAKING NEWS: Siemens AG has just announced plans to spin off 30% of its $41 billion (35 billion euro) majority stake in Siemens Healthineers, marking a significant step in its ongoing portfolio simplification. Siemens currently owns approximately 67% of the health tech firm. Under the proposed transaction, Siemens AG shareholders would receive shares in Siemens Healthineers through a direct spin-off. The move, announced one day ahead of the “Siemens ONE Tech – Strategy & Results” event, will reduce the company's holding in the medical technology subsidiary to a significant minority. https://lnkd.in/eYTwFBna

Proud to be featured in this excellent DOTmed.com, Inc article by Keri Forsythe-Stephens on one of the most critical issues facing our profession: the #HTM talent gap. For too long, our field has been one of healthcare's best-kept secrets. As we face a wave of retirements, we can't afford to be anonymous anymore. My contribution to the discussion focuses on a few key themes: 1. Shifting the Narrative: We are #Technologists, not just technicians. Our role is about critical thinking, system integration, and cybersecurity - acting as embedded partners with our clinical teams, not just fixers in a workshop. 2. Highlighting Our "Why": In a public healthcare system, our primary driver isn't profit: it's #stewardship. We are fierce advocates for the right to repair and are dedicated to ensuring technology serves patients safely and effectively for its entire lifecycle. 3. Proactive, Early Outreach: We must be everywhere, early. Building strong, multi-layered partnerships with educational institutions like British Columbia Institute of Technology is pivotal to creating a sustainable talent pipeline. Thank you to my colleagues at #LMBME whose great work makes this story possible. If you're a student or a professional looking for a career with immense purpose and opportunity, let's connect. https://lnkd.in/gUqBFCJu

In the latest installment of Five Minutes in Healthcare, Philip Jacobus sits down with Dan Sodickson to discuss the ways AI and imaging are poised to fundamentally enhance human perception -- and what that means for healthcare. It is a subject that Dr. Sodickson explores in his new book, The Future of Seeing: How Imaging Is Changing Our World, where he traces an arc from the first light-sensitive cells in ancient oceans to AI systems that interpret images with superhuman precision. We hope you enjoy the conversation. Be sure to let us know what you think. https://lnkd.in/g9NkYWxq

Want to save money while reducing the environmental impact of your MR suite? Consider investing in refurbished systems, and upgrades to existing systems, before shopping for something new. Researchers from Vanderbilt University Medical Center and Philips crunched the numbers and found "circular" investing could save $500,000 across the life of each MR unit. https://lnkd.in/gxXKHTvY

Why did a CT imaging facility in Utah operate for months without any lead shielding in the walls? How did it pass the radiation scatter survey administered by the designers? Employees at the clinic next door, many of whom have since become ill, are seeking answers. https://lnkd.in/eZ6kUfxW

Siemens Healthineers has issued a Class I recall for several of its 3T MR and PET/MR scanners due to a safety issue whereby ice blockages in the venting system could prevent helium gas from escaping during a quench event, leading to a possible rupture and helium leakage into the scanning room. https://lnkd.in/guSBQ4zt
