Yesterday capped off a meaningful milestone in our collaboration with North Carolina State University. This Fall, Chainguard had the privilege of supporting a practicum within the Master’s in Cybersecurity program, working closely with four talented graduate students as they explored real-world challenges at the intersection of open source security, fuzzing, and secure software supply chains. The students presented their work to faculty and university leadership, and the room reflected the strength of North Carolina’s broader cybersecurity community. The Honorable Elaine Marshall, North Carolina Secretary of State (North Carolina Department of the Secretary of State), joined the session along with members of her team. Leaders from Cisco, including Anthony Grieco (SVP, Chief Security and Trust Officer), Jack Klecha (Senior Director, Enterprise InfoSec and Architectures), and Matt Fussa (Vice President of Trust and Compliance) and others, also attended and contributed to the discussion. This engagement underscored how partnerships between industry, government, and higher education can accelerate both student development and innovation in secure computing. We are grateful to the NC State team for welcoming us into this semester’s practicum and proud of the work the students delivered. Collaborations like this strengthen the talent pipeline and help advance the state of secure open source for our citizens, students, companies and every end user. Special thanks to John Speed Meyers and Trevor Dunlap for their hands on efforts with the NCSU students as well at Laura Rodgers, William Enck and Isabella White for their leadership at NCSU. Go Pack! (apologies to anyone left off the list). #NCState #NCSUCybersecurity #NorthCarolina #NCSecretaryOfState #Chainguard #Cisco
