Dell is calling everyone back to the office 5 days per week, per Business Insider. It's their 6th RTO policy update.
Here's my question: What happened between Sep 7, 2022 and today? 👇
𝗗𝗲𝗹𝗹'𝐬 𝐑𝐓𝐎 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞:
1️⃣ Sep 7, 2021: Offices are open again, but no set policy
2️⃣ 𝗦𝗲𝗽 𝟳, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟮: There will be no official return to the office
Michael Dell said, "Ultimately, we have committed to allow team members around the globe to choose the work style that best fits their lifestyle – whether that is remote or in an office or a blend of the two."
3️⃣ May 9, 2023: People near an office need to come in 3 days/week
4️⃣ Apr 5, 2024: Hybrid employees must be in 39 days/quarter, remote workers have restrictions (no promotions, no job changing)
- Jun 19, 2024: 50% of workers opt for remote (Business Insider)
5️⃣ Sep 30, 2024: Sales team needs to come in 5 days/week
6️⃣ 𝗝𝗮𝗻 𝟯𝟭, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱 (starting Mar 3, 2025): All employees within one hour of a Dell office must come in 5 days/week (Business Insider)
Michael Dell told staff, "What we're finding is that for all the technology in the world, nothing is faster than the speed of human interaction. A thirty-second conversation can replace an email back-and-forth that goes on for hours or even days."

𝗜𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂'𝗿𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼-𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲 (ie. it says Real Estate in your LI profile title) you'll say, "They learned how bad remote work is!"
𝗜𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂'𝗿𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼-𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗲 (ie. you named your company Buildremote) you'll say, "They're blowing it!"
Someone, somewhere please provide a good explanation 👇
