🌍 Women Financing the Future of Food Freedom Women and children are the face of global hunger. Yet in London this week, the narrative is changing. As Africa Day for Food and Nutrition Security (Oct 30) approaches, women leaders from across the continent and the diaspora are gathering to reclaim their economic power — from plate to profit. At the UK–Africa Women in Food & Agribusiness Investment Summit, WANDA Founder & CEO Tambra Raye Stevenson will moderate the panel “Access to Capital: Strategies for Funding,” featuring powerhouse voices in finance, trade, education, and gender equity. This isn’t a feminist agenda — it’s a moral and economic imperative. Because when women control the means of food production and financing, we secure families, stabilize nations, and feed futures. From London’s Mayfair to FAO’s Africa-wide forum on Enhancing Women’s Access to Finance, the message is clear: 💰 Fund women. 🥗 Feed nations. 🌱 Finance peace. Promoting, advancing, and ensuring representation of black policy professionals in the food and agriculture sector
About us
Black Professionals in Food and Agriculture was founded in October 2020 for the purpose of promoting the advancement and development of black professionals in the food and agriculture industry. All too often the voices and input of Black policy makers, congressional staffers, and industry representatives are excluded in the development of policies and programs that serve America’s farmers, ranchers, and producers. BPFA is committed to ensuring that those voices have a presence in the room and a seat at the table.

This Thursday, September 25th, WANDA will join the George Washington University Global Food Institute for an important conversation: 🌾 “Rural & Urban Food Sovereignty: Black Communities Taking the Lead” 📍 GWU Science & Engineering Hall, Washington, DC 🕠 5:30–8:00 PM ET Our Founder & CEO, Tambra Raye Stevenson, will deliver the opening remarks, grounding the dialogue in the historical, cultural, and political realities of Black food sovereignty. From the Fulani agricultural legacy of West Africa to the Black cowboy culture and farming towns of Oklahoma like Boley and Rentiesville, Black communities have always fed America—even in the face of systemic oppression, food apartheid, and land dispossession. Today, our resilience, innovation, and leadership continue to shape food futures. This event will bring together farmers, advocates, and policymakers to: ✔️ Uplift the legacy and expertise of Black farmers ✔️ Address systemic barriers to land, capital, and markets ✔️ Highlight community-led innovations across rural and urban landscapes ✔️ Build cross-regional strategies for equity and sustainability We are proud that WANDA’s work—centering Black women and families through food, health, and culture—will set the tone for this critical conversation. 🔗 Read more: https://lnkd.in/eM6PkB8S #FoodSovereignty #BlackFarmers #FoodJustice #WANDA #FoodDemocracy #Equity
