About us
With decades of onshore and offshore experience responding to victims in areas where access by ground ambulance is difficult, Acadian Air Med is a national leader in air ambulance medical transports, flying more first response missions than any other air medical program in the country. Air Med operates an extensive fleet of medically configured helicopters, with bases strategically located in Lafayette, Houma, Baton Rouge, Alexandria, Lake Charles, Hammond and Monroe, Louisiana. Air Med's Rotor Wing Operations are accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Medical Transport Systems, the gold standard for air ambulance services in the United States. For extended medical transports across the continental United States, we operate a collection of fixed-wing aircraft. All of our rotor-wing and fixed-wing aircraft are equipped with technologically advanced diagnostic and life support medical equipment. The Air Med crew is a team of compassionate critical care flight RNs and paramedics, held to the same notable standards as our highly accredited Acadian Ambulance Service division. Extensive treatment protocol includes stroke care, acute coronary syndrome treatment, advanced trauma life support and rapid sequence induction using operating room procedures. All FAA Part 135 aviation services provided by Metro Aviation, Inc., which maintains exclusive operational control over all aircraft. Shoutout to the incredible folks from the Chitimacha Tribe of Louisiana who joined the Acadian Air Med team for a Night Landing Zone Class in Charenton last night! Learning how to safely guide our crews in for a night landing is a vital skill that saves precious time during emergencies. We loved sharing our knowledge and seeing the community dedication to being prepared 24/7!

Not all heroes wear capes… some wear flight suits! Our Air Med 8 crew recently came together for their quarterly simulations. Flight Nurse Ashleigh, Flight Nurse Jami, and Flight Paramedic Trey took a moment to showcase their custom Air Med 8 shirts—superhero style, of course! Quarterly simulations help us stay sharp, ensure teamwork, and continue delivering the highest level of care when every second counts. We are proud of this incredible crew and their dedication to excellence in the air and on the ground!

On Saturday, October 25, Air Med 4 hosted The Lights & Sirens Spooktacular, a “touch the truck” event. It was a huge success! Kids, families, and even the employees had tons of fun! There were plenty of candy and photo ops for all. From Air Med 4: We were excited for this to not only be a community event but also an educational opportunity for all ages. We all loved getting to interact with members of our community and show the importance of our air and ground ambulance operations. We want to personally thank Woodworth Police Department, Woodworth Fire Department, Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office and SWAT, and Mayor Butler for their willingness help make this event a success! We also want to thank the Air Med management team, Acadian Ambulance ground crews, and Acadian Ambulance supervisors for making sure we had everything we needed and more! We appreciate the ability to reach into our communities and truly make a difference. This event was a success in part to you guys and for allowing us to establish and maintain personal connections with those we serve. We’re proud to work alongside such a committed team and were glad we got to represent Acadian Air Med & Acadian Ambulance Service in such a positive and impactful way. This was such an awesome 1st Annual Lights & Sirens Spooktacular, and we already have plans underway to make next year’s bigger and better!

Every year, we donate all proceeds from our Christmas shirt sales to local charities. We've donated to Louisiana Baptist Children's Home in previous years. Based in Monroe, they assist children and families in need. From residential child and family care to assisting with foster and adoption, this organization extends a helping hand to many. Buying a shirt not only spreads Christmas cheer, but the profits go to local institutions for a good cause. Visit https://lnkd.in/gf6zEQib today to get your shirt and make a positive difference in your area.

Earlier this week, we held a ceremony in recognition of some of Erath Fire Department's firefighters for their critical role in saving a patient's life earlier this month. We arrived to the scene and intubated the patient, transported her to the hospital, and within four days, she went home to continue recovering. We'd like to thank Chad, Kayden, Nick, David, Jacob, and Clint for their outstanding work and dedication to saving lives. Your swift response and teamwork with Acadian contributed to saving this patient's life.
