Representatives from Ochsner Baton Rouge joined seniors, former law enforcement officers and veterans at the Seniors and Law Enforcement Together (SALT) Health Expo on Nov. 18 to share life-saving information about lung cancer and the importance of early detection. November is Lung Cancer Awareness Month, and many people may qualify for a no-cost lung cancer screening through the American Lung Association. You may be eligible if you: • Are 50 to 80 years old • Have a 20-pack-year smoking history • Are a current smoker or quit within the past 15 years Call a Lung Health Navigator for 1-on-1 screening support: 844-ALA-LUNG (844-252-5864). Ochsner Health invites you to join a special Parkinson’s Disease Lunch & Learn on Wednesday, Nov. 19, at Ochsner Baptist. Hear from Julia Staisch, MD, a movement disorders neurologist, and Dominique Thomas, a clinical coordinator for movement disorders, as they discuss the latest Parkinson’s research, signs and symptoms, and answer questions in an open, supportive setting. Representatives from the Ochsner Baton Rouge women’s services team recently hit the pavement at Maddie’s Footprints’ 4th Annual Footprints Forever 5K and 1-Mile Race. Maddie’s Footprints Greater Baton Rouge provides vital emotional and financial support to families who have experienced the loss of a child, and we’re inspired by their mission to strengthen families in our community.
