We unite women in all aspects of combating the threat of fraud & financial crime, to network & share best practice,

About us

The Fraud Women’s Network (FWN) established in 2007, was set up to unite women in all aspects of combating the threat of fraud and financial crime, to network and to share best practice, information and experience in order to help tackle the threat from fraud and financial crime. We aim to provide women in these arenas with networking opportunities. Our regular networking events provide an invaluable way of establishing and cementing contacts across the whole financial crime arena, sharing information and ideas (we also enjoy the social aspect!). We provide access to a wide-ranging education programme about the latest trends and developments in fraud and financial crime, and the newest tools to help prevent, detect and investigate fraud and financial crime. We also offer mentoring opportunities. Fraud and financial crime occurs in both the public and private sectors and will increase unless we combine forces to do something about it together.

  • 🔦MEMBER SPOTLIGHT🔦 …introducing Laura Eshelby! 💻Work & Professional💻 🎤What’s your current role and what does a typical day look like for you? I am Head of Economic Crime at Clue Software. My typical day involves meeting with teams leading operational responses to fraud, money laundering, bribery or insider threats. The conversation will focus on their challenges, and identifying ways to mitigate these, harnessing technology. 🎤What’s one career achievement you’re most proud of? There are many- but probably the launch of the Government Counter Fraud Profession, whilst working in the Cabinet Office. The launch followed several years of research and cross sector collaboration and engagement to reach that point! 🎤What advice would you give someone just starting out in your field? My advice is set specific time aside to build your network outside of your immediate role and organisation- this may open up future career paths or development opportunities you didn't even know existed! 🎉Fun & Personal🎉 🎤What did you want to be when you were a child? A hotel manager- I guess I still like to organise things, be a leader, oh and travel! 🎤What’s the best book, podcast or show you’ve enjoyed lately? Can I cheat and say Joining the Dots. Its our Clue podcast hosted by Thomas Drohan and the range of strong female guests recently has been great -  from romance fraud fighting Anna Rowe to Sarah Lewis OBE tackling anti doping on the Olympic slopes! 🎤What’s your favourite way to unwind after a hectic day? It has to be a nice family meal and then maybe relaxing in the hot tub/sauna after a long day! 🔗Network🔗 🎤How can people connect with you or learn more about your work? Please follow me on Linkedin, or check out our Economic Crime news and events on www.cluesoftware.com 🎤Why did you become a member of the FWN? I was really keen to build my network in the financial and legal sectors, and its proved really valuable so far for this! 🎤What has been the best bit about being a member of the FWN? It’s a really open and welcoming group, everyone seems to be very supportive at the events I’ve attended. #FraudPrevention #FinancialCrime #AML #RiskManagement #MemberSpotlight #ComplianceCommunity #FraudFighters

🔦MEMBER SPOTLIGHT🔦 …introducing Evie Meleagros! 💻Work & Professional 🎤What’s your current role and what does a typical day look like for you? I’m a partner in the Fox Williams’ dispute resolution team.  My practice focuses on commercial litigation, with a focus on fraud and asset recovery, acting for both claimants and defendant. There is never a typical day when you’re a litigator and a mother of two!  Usually I’m putting out fires & starting a few new ones! I prefer to be in the office when I can, as I find the energy & collaboration make a real difference. My work now largely is dominated by client calls & meetings, helping to drive their cases towards a resolution. 🎤What’s one career achievement you’re most proud of? Leading our all-female team on the Magomedov v TPG and others case. 🎤Any advice for someone just starting out in your field? Think long-term. There will be highs & lows, plus decisions you disagree with. The important thing is to keep perspective & focus on what is important to you. Make sure your career is something that brings you purpose and enjoyment. 🎉Fun & Personal🎉 🎤What did you want to be when you were a child? I wanted to be an actress! I always say litigation is the closest you can get to creativity and artistry in law. 🎤What’s the best book, podcast or show you’ve enjoyed lately? I am currently reading ‘A Different Drummer’ by Melvin Kelly. It is an excellent read – written in the late 1950s about racism in the US. Prior to that I read ‘BRIT(ish)’ by Afua Hirsch.  A fact / part-memoir book on race, identity and belonging in Britain.  A really excellent reflection on identity and growing up in Britain. 🎤What’s your favourite way to unwind after a hectic day? With a 9-year-old & a 7-year-old, my evenings are spent with them, & are filled with homework, music practice, reading & bedtime routines. Once that is all done, I usually collapse in a heap – so honestly, my favourite way to unwind is just going bed!   🔗Network🔗 🎤How can people connect with you or learn more about your work? You can find me on LinkedIn - Evie Meleagros or get in touch by email. 🎤Why did you become a member of the FWN? It came highly recommended by other members, & I felt it was a community where I’d have a lot in common. 🎤What’s the best bit about being a member of the FWN? Women’s networks provide a safe space to speak openly, whether or not fraud related.  FWN has been a great community for sharing thoughts and ideas, & connecting with other like-minded women. #FraudPrevention #FinancialCrime #AML #RiskManagement #MemberSpotlight #ComplianceCommunity #FraudFighters
