    This week’s standout global investment/M&A news: ◾ Jeff Bezos steps in as co-CEO of Project Prometheus, a new AI venture already stacked with $6.2B to reinvent engineering and manufacturing at scale. ◾ Anthropic locks in a $30B compute commitment with Microsoft Azure, securing up to 1GW of extra capacity alongside a deepened partnership with Microsoft and Nvidia. ◾ GlobalFoundries acquires Advanced Micro Foundry (Singapore), positioning itself as the world’s largest silicon photonics maker, a major swing for AI data centre networks. ◾ Vertiv snaps up PurgeRite for $1B, doubling down on next-gen data centre cooling with a deal priced at ~10x expected 2026 EBITDA. HICL + TRIG propose a £5.3B merger, set to create the UK’s largest listed infrastructure investment company. ◾ Firmus Technologies’ valuation rockets to $6B, after a fresh $500M raise and unveiling its $73.3B Project Southgate - AI data centre expansion across Australia. ◾ Legence acquires Bowers for $475M, picking up $1.3B in existing data centre contracts in a high-impact strategic move.   • Is the data centre industry doing enough for women? When we set out to collect the data for our 2025 Salary Survey, we weren't sure what kind of split we'd get from men and women taking the survey. (you can still download the full survey results here: https://lnkd.in/eR-zU7dQ) In the end, roughly 8% (1 in 12) of respondents were women, a stat that many of our LinkedIn audience thought was actually higher than they expected. We’ve gone back through our data and pulled out five key takeaways about women working in the industry today: 1. The gender pay gap is very real - at junior levels this gap is around 5%, but it jumps to around 15% at C-suite level. 2. There appears to be a seniority ceiling - only 3% of female respondents are in C-suite roles (vs. 3.6% of men). Women are progressing, but it doesn't tend to be as fast (or as far) as men. 3. Job roles still reflect traditional divides - areas like data centre operations and commissioning are overwhelming male, while areas like project management are more balanced. 4. More women than men are planning to move jobs in the next 12 months. 5. Everyone wants better benefits. When it comes to what people want more of, women lean slightly more towards wellbeing and flexibility, and men are more likely to ask for financial-based benefits.   • A snapshot of H1 from CBRE's North America Data Centre Trends 🔎 Some of the key headlines: - Primary market supply totaled a record 8,155 megawatts (MW) in H1 2025, up by 17.6% from H2 2024 and by 43.4% year-over-year. - Despite this significant increase in inventory, primary market vacancy dropped to a record-low 1.6%, underscoring the continued strength of end-user demand, particularly from hyperscale and AI occupiers. - Average pricing for a 250-to-500-kilowatt (kW) requirement increased by 2.5% since H2 2024, while larger deployments, particularly 10 MW+, increased by up to 19%. These pricing increases were driven by tight supply of contiguous power blocks, elevated build-out costs and fierce competition from cloud and AI-related tenants for high-density infrastructure.
