🎉 #SingHacks 2025, the final wrap-up! What began as 48 hours of caffeine-fuelled ideation, prototyping, and pitching culminated on the global stage last week at Singapore FinTech Festival 2025. 🔥 But first, a quick rewind: SingHacks 2025 is Asia’s first fintech-focused hackathon for agentic AI, conceptualised to push the frontier of innovation in financial services. Over 270 hackers came together from 31 Oct - 2 Nov to tackle real challenges from leading institutions: Julius Baer, Hedera Foundation, Ancileo and MSIG Asia. From transforming compliance and travel insurance to reimagining the digital economy, the unforgettable weekend produced over 90 unique solutions. The best of the best, six standout finalists across the three tracks, moved on to pitch live at #SFF2025 for the ultimate title. 🎤 And then came the big moment. After sleepless nights of preparation, the top teams finally stepped into the spotlight to pitch their solutions in front of a global community. And after an incredibly close race… 🥇 Announcing the Grand Winners of SingHacks 2025: · Julius Baer's Challenge: The Fraudbusters · Ancileo x MSIG Asia's Challenge: NTU SAARS · Hedera's Challenge: ProvidAI Your breakthrough solutions wowed our audience with its technical depth, clarity, and real-world impact. A huge congratulations from all of us! And a shout-out to the runners-up for their exceptional work: Dinnr | Guardian of Agents | The Trading Thing 🙌 A massive thank-you to the industry leaders: Andreas Zingg | Jelyne Tan | Jeffrey Tchui 徐家基, who formed our panel of judges, whose thoughtful evaluations and time made this finale truly meaningful. Your rigor helped surface the solutions with the strongest real-world potential. 💡 And finally, what SingHacks showed us: Agentic AI is more than a technical unlock, it’s a new blueprint for building the future of financial services. And when fresh perspectives meet real industry challenges, the results can spark the next wave of transformation across compliance, risk, wealth, payments, insurance, web3, and beyond. This is just the beginning. The future of finance will be shaped by those with a bold idea, and SingHacks 2025 proved that the next big shift may start from a hackathon stage. See you at the next edition of SingHacks! 🚀 SingHacks is powered by Tenity, and made possible by our incredible anchor partners: Julius Baer, Hedera Foundation, Ancileo x MSIG Asia, AMD and Visa. #singhacks #agenticai #fintechinnovation #hackathon #fintech

Over the last five years, I’ve had the privilege of traveling the world — working with regulators and policymakers to build a safer financial system. But it’s rare to have that conversation publicly — and on one of the world’s largest stages — with some of the most influential voices in global finance. Thank you to Global Finance & Technology Network (GFTN) and the Singapore FinTech Festival for bringing together an extraordinary panel and giving me the honor of moderating a conversation with Ho Hern Shin (Deputy Managing Director, Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS)), Andrea M Maechler (Deputy General Manager, Bank for International Settlements – BIS), Peter Kerstens (European Commission), and Tim Adams (President and CEO, Institute of International Finance). We discussed the path toward regulatory harmonization, how clarity and consistency can enable responsible innovation, and how public-private partnerships are shaping the next chapter of the digital financial system. An absolute honor to be part of this dialogue — and a reminder of what collaboration across borders can achieve. And . . . Peter was amazing even after an epic #TRMRunClub. I know Tim is in next time!

  • "I think one of the things that's fascinating about how stablecoins are being used in the real world at the moment is that they are starting to solve problems that just can't be solved through the existing financial system... nothing beats a traceable transaction which you can initiate and see delivered within a few minutes to solve a real world problem that sells real world cash or real world cost." – Rene Michau, Global Head, Digital Assets, Standard Chartered Joined on stage by Yam Ki Chan, Vice President, Asia Pacific, Circle and Nicole Sandler, Head of Corporate & Regulatory Affairs, Centre for Finance, Innovation and Technology (CFIT) & Chief Ecosystem Officer, Ubyx Inc., moderated by Jo Yeo, Director & Head, Payments Development & Data Connectivity Office, Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), the panel unpacked how stablecoins have moved from crypto backwaters into boardrooms and trading floors, enabling instant, programmable money for a borderless economy, and the risks that come with it. The panel tackled big questions: 🔸 Can stablecoins be safe enough for mass retail adoption? 🔸 Will they complement or disrupt banks and CBDCs? 🔸 Can they unlock trillion-dollar opportunities in B2B settlement and programmable finance? • Two days after #SFF2025, one message continues to echo across our halls and our industry: Singapore must sharpen its storytelling to stay ahead. Sopnendu Mohanty, Group Chief Executive Officer of Global Finance & Technology Network (GFTN), was clear about the urgency. “Selling is a very different skill set, which requires a lot of resilience and understanding of customer relations. It doesn’t matter how much you focus on product innovation or running a business, being able to sell is still crucial.” This resonated deeply with our global community of founders, policymakers, investors, banks and technologists who gathered in Singapore from 12 to 14 November. The reality is simple. Singapore is building world-class infrastructure, global proof points and new models for digital finance. Yet as Sopnendu said, “These strengths may not be enough for the Republic to retain its position as a leading FinTech hub, given how rapidly the industry is evolving. In the past, who would have thought about a unicorn in the Philippines, Thailand or Vietnam? Now you see unicorns coming from these countries at such a fast pace.” As organisers, we saw firsthand how this challenge came alive on all our stages and across hundreds of exhibition booths and international pavilions. The breakthroughs were clear. The ambition was clear. The ecosystem was ready. Now we look ahead, that story continues at SFF 2026. Early-bird registration is now open. Executive Director - Global Digital Finance

🇸🇬 Ten years of Singapore FinTech Festival! & I think this year was absolutely the best one yet. Kicked off the week at the Insights Forum in discussion with friends and colleagues across a variety of Chatham House Rule panels including: 1. The FinTech Formula: Building competitive and connected ecosystems; 2. Impact of US stablecoin and crypto regulations on global token payment providers; & 3. Securing the future of finance: Real-time collaboration against illicit activity in the digital asset ecosystem, which I loved of moderating! Moving to SFF itself, a real highlight of the week for me was moderating an expert session on 'How Forward-Looking Institutions Are Managing Risks and Seizing Opportunities' with Cuy, Naveen, Salim and Mishal. Our discussion was hot on the heels of JPM's announcement about using JPMD on Base, and we also talked about the intersection of varying forms of digital money + how institutions can prepare for an agentic, programmable future of finance. I also loved working with our partners Web3 Harbour on a couple of events across the week including a live podcast as part of their Smart Contact series, and an APAC Policy Roundtable, hosted by Fireblocks to convene our joint WG & also discuss key APAC priorities and challenges for the year ahead with the broader SFF community. Thank you to our wonderful co-chairs Dea, Gary & Steven for your continued leadership. Thank you also to PwC Singapore, and Peter Brewin chair of our Tax WG for hosting an in depth technical roundtable discussion on CARF. Noted as being, the next and potentially more challenging Following on from the publication of the GDF Tokenized MMF Report, we also held a discussion session with key participants from the WG to get into the specific trials which took place in the Sandbox, and what the broader usability of the report can be for expanding the legal analysis to other jurisdictions. Thank you to Hogan Lovells for hosting us & to the Ownera team for supporting the report & event! Not to be missed, the BoE published their proposed regulatory regime for sterling-denominated systemic stablecoins during SFF week! It was great to discuss with the FCA & BoE while they were in town & GDF looks forward to convening its UK working group to submit a full response. Read the CP here: https://lnkd.in/eiB-X6hq Last but not least, we also hosted our Global Digital Finance Senior Leaders Community Dinner hosted by Hedera, Latham & Watkins and Terminal 3. I was honoured to be able to take the time at our dinner to sit down for a fireside with Alan Lim and chat through the MAS approach to innovation, how regulators and industry continue to evolve, as well as some of the critical work being done with the BIS Innovation Hubs as well as IOSCO. It was a truly wonderful evening and great to gather our global community across the public and private sector together in Singapore. Bring on next year!
