After #SupertyphoonUwan (Fung-Wong), many families in 📍Baras, Catanduanes returned to homes that could no longer protect them. For Ayesha 35, the devastation was overwhelming. Their roof had been torn off, and the kitchen and toilet her family relied on were destroyed. As a construction worker and a mother of three children, Ayesha now carries the double burden of earning a living and rebuilding their totally damaged home from the ground up. In this time of crisis, UNICEF Philippines and Action Against Hunger Philippines are supporting families like Ayesha’s by providing hygiene and water kits to communities affected by Super Typhoon Uwan, with support from the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida). 📷 Photos by Brian Kae Enriquez for Action Against Hunger

This #WorldChildrensDay, we join children in saying: “My Day, My Rights.” 💙 Every child has the right to grow healthy, learn fully, and reach their potential, but stunting and malnutrition continue to hold many children back. Together with UNICEF Philippines and with funding from the Korean government through KOICA, we are strengthening the systems that make quality nutrition services possible in BARMM. Our work focuses on building the capacity of primary health care facilities to detect and manage malnutrition by training health workers, improving assessment skills, and providing the equipment and supportive environment they need to deliver services effectively. ➡️ We are also helping facilities maintain essential nutrition supplies by supporting logistics and bridging gaps in resources. Overall, we strengthen the systems that keep commodities like supplements and equipment, available for children and families. In partnership with local governments, we support the development of strong health and nutrition policies and plans so every child can access safe, effective, and affordable care. Because every child deserves a fair chance and a future where their rights are fully realized. #ActionAgainstHungerPhilippines #ForEveryChild #MyDayMyRights

Today on #WorldToiletDay, we’re highlighting a part of our work that isn’t always visible but makes all the difference. In many of the communities we support, #UnsafeWater and #PoorSanitation are at the root of the illnesses that keep families stuck in hunger. ➡️ Our teams work with local communities to restore clean water sources, build toilets and hand-washing stations, and make sure families have the knowledge and tools to keep themselves healthy. And because real change lasts only when it’s community-led, we train local groups to look after their own water and sanitation systems long after our work is done. At #ActionAgainstHungerPhilippines, we work with communities to improve access to #CleanWater, build basic #SanitationFacilities, and promote #HygienePractices that protect families from disease. Safe toilets aren’t a luxury, they’re a lifeline.

#DavaoOrientalEarthquake: Communities in 📍Davao Oriental continue to rebuild after the recent earthquake, and thanks to the support of UNICEF Philippines, and the European Commission / EU Civil Protection & Humanitarian Aid through the #ACCESSconsortium, families in Caraga and Baganga have received much-needed hygiene kits, water kits, and hygiene promotion sessions, including orientations on PSEA and GBV. “We are happy that this kind of assistance reached us. This means a lot to us, especially now with our situation. We really need water purifiers [aquatabs], especially since diarrhea is very common right now because of the water. We’re also happy because we received soap for bathing, toothpaste, and toothbrushes—because honestly, with our situation, sometimes we can’t afford these anymore. And we even have a new container for water,” shares Aditha, one of the beneficiaries. For many others like Aditha, these items make a meaningful difference in their daily lives. With the support of our partners like UNICEF Philippines and the EU Civil Protection & Humanitarian Aid-funded #ACCESSProject, we remain committed to supporting disaster-affected families in this critical time of need—making sure they have the tools, knowledge, and support to stay safe, stay healthy, and move forward with dignity as they rebuild their lives. 📷 Photo by Criza Macabangen for Action Against Hunger

#TyphoonTino (international name: Kalmaegi) made multiple landfalls in the Philippines from November 3 to 7, bringing torrential rains, storm surges, and destructive winds. 📍Cebu was heavily affected, with entire towns inundated and floodwaters reaching unprecedented levels. More than 150,000 people in Cebu remain displaced. In Talisay City alone, over 14,000 are still staying in evacuation centers, where access to safe water remains limited—a challenge that affects health, hygiene, and daily living for families already coping with loss. Through the #ACCESS consortium, with support from the European Commission through the EU Civil Protection & Humanitarian Aid, our team is providing water trucking services to affected communities. 💧To date, 870 families in Talisay City have received nearly 30,000 liters of clean water, helping them stay safe and maintain basic hygiene as they begin to recover. 📷Bahnarin Salud and Vicente Delector, Jr. for Action Against Hunger
