PLUME (Process for Locating and Understanding Methane Emissions), a project led by NILU – Norwegian Institute for Air Research in collaboration with Kongsberg Satellite Services (KSAT), has been awarded funding by the ESA’s Arctic Phi-Lab. The aim of this project is to bring together multiple satellite sources, public and commercial, and to extract methane plumes. Service aims to provide rapid insights through increased observations that complement existing technology. Are you working in the energy sector, waste management, air quality, environmental regulations or a related field and would like to learn more or could give us feedback on what kind of monitoring service would fit your needs? PLUME team would like to hear from you (https://lnkd.in/dwqG5-Jw) Read more about the news: https://lnkd.in/dUpUBJF3 European Space Agency - ESA ESA Arctic Phi-Lab

Congratulations to ESA Operations, Engineering & Space Safety on the successful launch yesterday. 🚀 We are proud to support this important mission from Troll Ground Station in Antarctica and look forward to the completion of the LEOP phase.🌍 European Space Agency - ESA
🛰 Copernicus Sentinel-1D is in space and well: we have a mission! At 22:02 CET on 4 November, Sentinel-1D was successfully launched from Kourou aboard an Ariane 6 rocket! About fifty minutes after separation, at 23:22 CET, the KSAT – Kongsberg Satellite Services's Troll ground station in Antarctica acquired the satellite's signal. A couple of seconds later, the mission control team at ESOC received confirmation that solar array deployment was underway and the batteries were charging! Over the next few days, the team will prepare the satellite for the beginning of operations by completing the Launch and Early Orbit (LEOP) phase. Congratulations to all the teams and partners involved! Read more here ➡️ https://lnkd.in/eNpXXP_J 📷Liftoff: ESA - S. Corvaja 📷Flight Operations Director Ian Shurmer: ESA - J.
