Obsessions can make a big difference in agriculture. 🌱 Stephen Johnson, one of our research scientists, is on a mission to combat one of the most invasive pests in agriculture: Spodoptera. What makes it a global menace? - Responsible for almost 18 million tons of lost corn annually worldwide. 🌽 - No natural predators, resulting in unchecked reproduction. 🌍 - Feeding frenzies that can wipe out 50% of harvests. ⚠️ Spodoptera caterpillars are also known as armyworms as they move in large numbers in search of food. 🐛🐛🐛🐛 Got an agricultural obsession of your own? We want to hear it in the comments. 👇 #RockStarScientists #Agriculture #Innovation

Small but mighty! The single-celled amoeba helps farmers tackle crippling fungal diseases that cost global agriculture billions of dollars. 🦠 🌱 Trials show the humble amoeba powers a next-generation biological that can combat septoria tritici blotch and yellow rust at a time when farmers face a shrinking toolbox of crop protection technologies. We’ve signed a memorandum of understanding with French greentech company, Amoéba SA, to bring this biocontrol to farmers across the EU and the UK. It’s relationships like these that help us create more nature-inspired solutions, so we keep empowering farmers. 💚 #Agriculture #Sustainability #CropProtection #Biologicals

The digital gap in agriculture is widening. While large-scale farms embrace AI and digital innovation, smaller farmers face the risk of being left behind. This is just one of the many findings from our latest report on AI adoption in agriculture, which we’ve co-produced with Ipsos to explore the existing barriers to innovation in the industry. AI can be the great equalizer in agriculture—but only if it’s truly accessible to all. Without ensuring accessibility, affordability, and building local trust, this technological revolution risks becoming yet another barrier to innovation, rather than a bridge. We’re committed to exploring ideas that help accelerate AI adoption in agriculture. As part of this urgent mission, we announced our Cropwise Open Platform last week—an open digital ecosystem, allowing third-party developers to build and integrate their own tools into our Cropwise AI-powered platform. Swipe through for a summary of the findings, and read the full report here: https://lnkd.in/dAn53RyT #AI #Agriculture #ArtificialIntelligence

We're actively working to ensure fair labor conditions on farms around the world, tackling systemic challenges like child labor and wage compliance head-on. Four years ago, two vegetable seed industry leaders and a global human rights organization joined forces, with a goal to collectively address the challenges of child labor, promote minimum wage compliance, and make the sector more gender equal. This collective effort sparked the Wage Improvements in Seed Hybrids (WISH) initiative, which has since gained momentum, with more seed companies joining the program. Together we’re helping create a blueprint to address inequalities and ensure workers in the seed sector (who often perform physically demanding and repetitive tasks) are treated with dignity and respect. Our Syngenta Vegetable Seeds team is proud to partner with BASF | NunhemsArisaHM.CLAUSEEnza Zaden, and Seedworks International Ltd.(Formerly SeedWorks International Pvt. Ltd.) on this critical social impact initiative. Learn more about the history of this initiative here: https://lnkd.in/gGdCk2Zu #Agriculture #SyngentaVegetables

Today marks a significant milestone as we open our AI-powered Cropwise platform to developers worldwide. This initiative addresses the growing technology gap between large and small farms, revealed by our recent Ipsos research (link to the full research report in the comments 👇).   Currently supporting over 70 million hectares across 30+ countries, Cropwise will now enable third-party developers to integrate advanced agronomic models into new applications. Our vision is to make digital agriculture more accessible and inclusive for all farmers, regardless of farm size.   Read more here: https://lnkd.in/dsTHRcFT #AgTech #DigitalAgriculture #Innovation
