#Syria A pivotal moment for Syria: This week, for the first time, the European Union's 'Day of Dialogue' was held in Damascus. Action Against Hunger was proud to participate in this event, focused on shaping a sustainable future for the Syrian people. The discussions were centered on critical pillars for Syria's transition: transitional justice, youth empowerment, and the vital shift from emergency aid to long-term recovery. This platform is essential to ensure that the policies guiding international support are directly informed by the voices and needs of Syrians.  As we move from humanitarian response to sustainable recovery, the need for concerted action has never been greater. We call on the international community to urgently increase its support for Syria's recovery. Sustainable peace and stability depend on our collective commitment to rebuilding lives and livelihoods. # سوريا لحظة محورية لسوريا: هذا الأسبوع، ولأول مرة، استضاف الاتحاد الأوروبي "يوم الحوار" في دمشق. وكانت منظمة العمل ضد الجوع فخورة بالمشاركة في هذا الحدث، الذي يركز على صياغة مستقبل مستدام للشعب السوري. وقد تركزت النقاشات على دعائم حاسمة لمرحلة الانتقال في سوريا: العدالة الانتقالية، وتمكين الشباب، والتحول الحيوي من المساعدات الطارئة نحو التعافي طويل الأمد. يمثل هذا المنبر أداة أساسية لضمان أن تستند السياسات الموجهة للدعم الدولي مباشرة إلى أصوات السوريين واحتياجاتهم. بينما ننتقل من مرحلة الاستجابة الإنسانية إلى مرحلة التعافي المستدام، لم يسبق للحاجة إلى عمل جماعي موحد أن كانت بهذه الضرورة. نحن ندعو المجتمع الدولي إلى تعزيز دعمه لعملية التعافي في سوريا على نحو عاجل، فسلام واستقرار سوريا المستدامان رهينان بالتزامنا الجماعي بإعادة بناء الحياة وسبل العيش.

#JORDAN | Community Engagement and Awareness on World Toilet Day Today is World Toilet Day, a reminder of how essential safe sanitation is for dignity, health, and opportunity. Last year, during our Global WASH Day event, we spent time with children teaching the basics of hygiene, sanitation, and how small daily habits can protect health and dignity. Their curiosity and enthusiasm were a reminder that real change often starts with simple lessons shared early. Under our project "Improved access to sanitation for Syrian refugees and Jordanians in vulnerable neighbourhoods of greater Ramtha municipality" supported by Agence Française de Développement and in partnership with Norwegian Refugee Council, we are proud to continue strengthening WaSH awareness in schools and communities, and supporting improved WaSH services across Jordan; one latrine, one household, and one community at a time. #World_Toilet_Day #WaSH #Community_Awareness #Sanitation #Health #ACF

#Lebanon 🇱🇧 | Conflict and Hunger Report Between October 2023 and April 2025, escalating hostilities severely disrupted agricultural production and food systems across Lebanon. A new report by Action Against Hunger - Middle East, Oxfam in Lebanon, and Insecurity Insight documents the extensive destruction of farmland, displacement of farming communities, and the resulting deterioration in food security. Key findings show that agricultural land was damaged by bombardments, fires, and contamination from white phosphorus; displacement orders prevented farmers from harvesting; and disrupted supply chains restricted access to markets and food. As of mid-2025, 1.24 million people in Lebanon face high levels of food insecurity, and more than 82,000 people remain displaced in conflict-affected areas. “Farmers across Lebanon are already in crisis as historically low rainfall has led to the worst drought on record. This climate stress is being exacerbated by the ongoing effects of the conflict, including contamination of land, restricted access, and disrupted supply chains,” said Suzanne Takkenberg, Country Director of Action Against Hunger Lebanon.
