Exciting news from Formnext - Where ideas take shape! Constellium is collaborating with REM Surface Engineering and Nikon Advanced Manufacturing to develop optimized surface finishing processes for our Aheadd® CP1 aluminum alloy. (details at https://lnkd.in/gMKtj67V) Aheadd® CP1 offers high printability, excellent conductivity, and a simplified single-step heat treatment—benefits that make it a standout choice for aerospace, defense, motorsport, semiconductors, and other high-performance industries. Working alongside Nikon AM’s advanced L-PBF platforms and REM’s specialized surface finishing technologies, we aim to further enhance Aheadd® CP1’s capabilities for the most demanding applications. “Aheadd® CP1 continues to demonstrate unique potential for next-generation structural and thermal components across multiple industries. Through this early-stage collaboration, we aim to explore advanced surface finishing pathways that could further extend the alloy’s capabilities for high-performance applications. Last week at the 3rd European Green Aluminium Summit in Düsseldorf, collaboration and innovation were at the heart of every discussion. Pierre-Yves Menet, R&D Group Manager, Casting and Recycling, spoke about the opportunities and challenges of decarbonizing the downstream aluminum sector, highlighting how Constellium is expanding recycling to lower Scope 3 emissions and how advanced technologies need to be mastered and deployed to achieve reduction in scope 1 emissions. Collaboration with suppliers and competitors is crucial to make this happen. Wiebke Weiler, Sustainability Manager, Packaging and Automotive Rolled Products, joined a panel with fellow leaders from across the value chain to discuss how Europe can accelerate aluminum recycling to support circularity and climate goals. She emphasized the importance of collaboration, the role of initiatives like Circular Can End, and the need to keep scrap in Europe to encourage continued investment in recycling capacity. Thank you to the EUROPEAN ALUMINIUM Association for organizing this important meeting. It was a great opportunity for our COO and CEO-designate, Ingrid Joerg, to highlight critical challenges facing Europe’s aluminium industry and the need for faster, simpler, and more decisive measures to address them. Three priorities stand out in particular: ① Stop scrap leakage. Europe must keep valuable scrap at home to build a strong circular economy, essential for a sustainable and resilient industry. ② Simplify CBAM. Its complexity and gaps undermine our competitiveness and its decarbonization goals. Critical adjustments are needed to ensure CBAM delivers on its promise and it does not bring to carbone leakage. ③ Address unfair trading practices with concrete, immediate remedies. Aluminium is now recognized as a strategic material by the European Union. Let’s turn that recognition into action and build a resilient, sustainable European aluminium industry.
