From the Records | JNHPP– Tanzania, 2018 As we continue to grow, so do our ambitions yet we always honor the projects that have defined our journey. From the Records is our way of celebrating the milestone achievements that have shaped who we are today. This week, we revisit the Julius Nyerere 2, 115 MW Hydropower Project, a landmark project transforming Tanzania’s energy future. Awarded in 2018 by TANESCO to the Joint Venture of The Arab Contractors and ELSEWEDY ELECTRIC, the project was built on the Rufiji River at Stiegler’s Gorge in Morogoro Region, with the goal of providing clean, affordable, and reliable electricity to over 60 million people. With a total installed capacity of 2,115 MW and expected annual generation of 6,307 GWh, the plant is now the largest in East Africa and the second largest in Africa. Beyond power, it supports flood control, water security, and national development. In March 2025, the project was officially completed, with the Taking-Over Acceptance Certificate issued for the final generating unit. Today, all nine turbines are fully operational, supplying the plant’s total capacity to Tanzanian national grid. Take a look at how this project came to life https://lnkd.in/dg_anWJK مع توسّعنا المستمر، تتسع طموحاتنا، لكننا لا ننسى المشاريع التي شكّلت مسيرتنا. ومن خلال سلسلة "من السجلات" نحتفي بالمحطات البارزة التي ساهمت في بناء هويتنا. نستعرض هذا الأسبوع مشروع جوليوس نيريري لتوليد الطاقة الكهرومائية بقدرة ٢٬١١٥ ميجاوات، وهو أحد أهم المشاريع التي غيّرت مستقبل الطاقة في تنزانيا. تم منح المشروع في عام ٢٠١٨ من قبل شركة تنزانيا للكهرباء (TANESCO) إلى التحالف المشترك بين المقاولون العرب والسويدي إليكتريك، وتم إنشاؤه على نهر روفيجي في إقليم موروجورو بهدف توفير طاقة نظيفة ومستدامة لأكثر من ٦٠ مليون نسمة. يُعد المشروع اليوم الأكبر في شرق إفريقيا والثاني على مستوى القارة بطاقة إنتاجية سنوية تبلغ ٦٬٣٠٧ جيجاوات ساعة، كما يساهم في التحكم بالفيضانات وتعزيز الأمن المائي ودعم التنمية الوطنية. وفي مارس ٢٠٢٥ تم الانتهاء من تنفيذ المشروع بالكامل ودخول جميع الوحدات التسع إلى الخدمة، لتغذي الشبكة الوطنية التنزانية بكامل طاقتها. يُجسّد هذا المشروع أولى تجاربنا في مجال الطاقة الكهرومائية وأحد أكثر مشاريعنا طموحًا، ويظلّ رمزًا للتعاون والمرونة والتقدّم الوطني. #ELSEWEDYELECTRIC_EC #ELSEWEDYELECTRICPSP #FromTheRecords #PowerGeneration #PowerPlant #WeDeliver #EPC #Engineering #EnergySolutions #HydroPower #AfricaEnergy #CleanEnergy #Tanzania #BeyondEngineering

ELSEWEDY ELECTRIC had the honor of welcoming H.E. Csaba Lantos , Minister of Energy of Hungary, along with his accompanying delegation, at our headquarters in Egypt. The delegation was received by Eng.Ahmed Elsewedy, CEO of ELSEWEDY ELECTRIC; Wael Hamdy, Vice President of ELSEWEDY ELECTRIC and CEO of ELSEWEDY ELECTRIC E&C; Hesham Hegazy, CEO of ELSEWEDY ELECTRIC PSP; and Ibrahim Amin, Vice President of Engineering and Supply Chain at ELSEWEDY ELECTRIC PSP. The meeting focused on strengthening collaboration and discussing Mátra Combined Cycle Power Plant Project at Budapest, Hungry which was awarded to ELSEWEDY ELECTRIC PSP in partnership with Status KPRIA Zrt. (Part of the Mészáros Group) and WHB Group in February 2025.
