We’re proud to be contributing to the restoration of Casa Goeldi, a historic landmark in the heart of the Amazon that will honour the legacy of Swiss naturalist Emílio Goeldi and become a centre for innovation in science, education, and social technologies. Last week, our Secretary General Marina Anselme, PhD. joined the Swiss Embassy in Brazil and partners in Belém, to underline Swiss mobilisation behind this project. Located within the Museu Emílio Goeldi | MCTI in Belém, Casa Goeldi will be revitalised to connect scientific and traditional knowledge to advance understanding of the Amazon’s unique ecosystems. This initiative brings together public, private, and philanthropic partners, all committed to restoring both natural and cultural heritage, while involving the local community. Today, on World Children’s Day, we celebrate the strength, creativity, and potential of children everywhere. Yet, not every child has the opportunity to grow to their full potential — and that’s where partners like UNICEF make a difference. We believe deeply in their incredible work to assist, educate, and empower children around the world, and that’s why we continue to stand by their side. Since 2009, MSC has partnered with UNICEF to help give children the chance to grow, learn, and dream — reaching more than 280,000 children in 11 countries through health, education, and emergency relief initiatives. This long-term partnership reflects our shared belief that every child deserves the opportunity to thrive — and our commitment to continue supporting UNICEF’s work. ©UNICEF UNICEF Schweiz und Liechtenstein #WorldChildrensDay #MSCFoundation #UNICEF #ForEveryChild

Proud to be supporting this important Earthna programme to revive the mangrove ecosystem in Qatar. Mangroves protect coasts, nurture marine life, lock away carbon, and sustain millions of livelihoods. When we safeguard mangroves, we’re protecting biodiversity, communities, and our climate. #MSCFoundation #fortheblueplanet
We are pleased to see our work on Qatar’s Mangroves Restoration Project featured in CNN’s 2025 Call to Earth series. Launched in 2023 and co-supported by Qatar Foundation’s Earthna and the MSC Foundation, in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change | وزارة البيئة والتغير المناخي , Qatar University, and Agrico Qatar, the project aims to restore 40 hectares of coastline with mangrove trees, an area roughly equal to 56 football pitches. And here is why: Mangroves are far more than coastal trees. For Qatar, they are powerful climate responders, storing up to five times more carbon than land forests. They act as natural barriers against storms and flooding, reduce coastal erosion, and provide essential nursery habitat for juvenile fish and crabs. Qatar’s mangroves also support a wide diversity of bird life, both resident and migratory birds including the majestic flamingo.

When Hurricane Melissa made landfall on 28 October, communities across Jamaica were left without safe water, shelter, and essential supplies. The MSC Group and the MSC Foundation have organised urgent relief efforts in support of the Government of Jamaica’s humanitarian response. Our first shipment arrived on 11 November, when MSC Divina transported 3,360 gallons of bottled water and 264 tarpaulins to Ocho Rios — addressing urgent needs identified by relief agencies. To further reinforce the national response, the MSC Foundation — with support from MSC — has also committed to providing free ocean transport for 12 containers of relief supplies from the United States, and has donated 14 containers to Jamaican non-profit partners Food For The Poor Jamaica and the RG Cares Foundation to support aid distribution and storage. Additional support is currently being mobilised. Our commitment is clear: to stand with the people affected by disaster and work with partners on the ground to deliver essential resources where they are needed most. We’re pleased to welcome Thomas Elliott, who recently joined the MSC Foundation as Marine Operations Officer at Ocean Cay. Tom E. is a marine biologist from London, with a BSc in Zoology from Royal Holloway, University of London, where he is currently completing an MSc by Research exploring the evolution and ecological significance of ultraviolet (UV) and colour ornamentation in coral reef fishes. He brings experience across marine research, fieldwork and conservation, having worked in The Bahamas at the Cape Eleuthera Institute, where he contributed to both coral restoration and shark and ray ecology programmes. At Ocean Cay, he will work closely with the team to advance the Super Coral Reefs Programme, supporting coral restoration, education, public awareness and engagement. We’re glad to have him on board as we continue to strengthen our Super Coral Reefs Programme. #MSCFoundation #OceanCay #SuperCoralReefsProgramme

As COP30 Brazil begins, the ocean is moving to the centre of the climate conversation. The evolving climate agenda is placing greater emphasis on preserving and restoring oceans and coastal ecosystems, recognising the vital role they play in regulating climate, protecting shorelines, sustaining livelihoods and supporting biodiversity. Under the thematic pillar “Forests, Oceans & Biodiversity,” ocean health is being discussed alongside terrestrial ecosystems — reflecting how deeply connected these systems truly are. Land and sea are not separate; they shape each other. United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres addressed the gathering, underscoring that the protection of forests and oceans is essential to ensuring climate stability, preserving biodiversity, and safeguarding the survival of millions of people. “Protecting forests and oceans is not an act of charity, but a legal and moral responsibility — and also an economically sound decision,” he affirmed. At the MSC Foundation, we share this understanding. We work to restore nature’s capacity to thrive, so that ecosystems — and the communities who depend on them — can build strength, resilience and opportunity for future generations. #MSCFoundation #COP30 #ForTheBluePlanet
