Yesterday we paused to listen to young people, and today UNICEF Canada and our partners roll-up our sleeves and get back to work, more invigorated than ever, to advocate with and for children and youth. Alongside 13 of our partners we are urging the Canadian Government to put children at the centre of policy and investment. This includes a specific ask to swiftly pass Bill S212 - a National Strategy for Children and Youth, and to explicitly protect children around the world from the recent cuts in Canada's foreign assistance envelope. Because UNICEF Canada and our partners will continue to lead, advocate, and act to ensure no child is left behind. Children in Gaza are eager to return to learning after two years of conflict and loss. UNICEF is scaling up temporary classrooms where children can learn and play safely. So far in 2025, we’ve reached 178,000 children, but over 638,000 still need access to education. To make this possible, we urgently need education supplies, funding for teachers and support staff and entry of essential materials to rebuild and expand safe learning spaces. Upholding the ceasefire is essential to give every child the chance to learn in peace.
