Moving on - مع السلامة – Ma’a as-salama !
After six great years spent explaining NATO, it's time to move on. It has not been easy to change course, but here's me sharing three honest thank you's.
Having had the opportunity to put skills to service is the dream of so many. I want to thank the three Assistant Secretaries Generals under whom I served, Tacan ILDEM, Baiba Braze and Marie-Doha Besancenot who trusted me with complex communications projects, nudging me always to aim higher.
Thanks also to the diplomats, professors, industry executives, young researchers and more whom I engaged across 3 NATO Summits in Washington (2024), Vilnius (2023) and Madrid (2022), and in events in HQ, in Bahrein, Bulgaria, Canada, France, Italy, Kuwait, Qatar, Romania, the United States and online! I learned from you and hope that through our exchanges, you gained a clear sense of consensus-building at NATO.
And finally a word of thanks, harder perhaps but genuine also, to NATO's Secretary General Rutte and his team for having been decisive when the need to reform Public Diplomacy @ NATO became clear. The Organization is articulating a new approach to engage with international security experts. That is good news. Dialogue is for tense and turbulent times. It must adapt continuously.
I'm excited about my new job at NATO and Day 1 is just around the corner... Stay tuned!
