We're excited to spotlight our incredible perioperative nurses — the skilled and compassionate professionals who support patients before, during, and after surgery.  We have perioperative nurses across all surgical sites, including four hospitals – Ajax Pickering, Bowmanville, Oshawa, and Port Perry – and our same-day surgical centre, Jerry Coughlan Health & Wellness Centre. Their teamwork, expertise, and dedication make every procedure safer and every patient experience better. This is Lakeridge Health — where teamwork drives exceptional care. • We’re wrapping up #DigitalHealthWeek with examples of how data can power health care transformation across the country.  At #MohawkMedbuy, we receive and assess billions in health care spend data every year. Step one is cleansing this data to ensure its accuracy and integrity before we apply it to a suite of powerful reports and additional value-added intelligence including:  ✔️Our MitigAID supply disruption management program – identifying substitute items for over 75 percent of shortages in 2024–2025. Learn more about MitigAID here: https://lnkd.in/gwaSZeXY ✔️Integration of AI-enabled MaaTRx Inc drug shortage prediction platform to reduce risks to patients. ✔️A tariff-ready strategy based on analysis of US-exposed product spend – supporting both short-term and long-term supply resilience. Members can access the Toolbox on our Portal. ✔️Quarterly Member Opportunity Reports offering valuable analysis on potential for increased savings. We’re turning data into actionable insights that drive innovation in the health care supply chain – supporting better patient outcomes across Canada.

  • Did you know that around 70% of health care acquired pressure injuries (HAPIs) are preventable?    Today, on #StopPressureInjuries Day, learn how #MohawkMedbuy supported the adoption of an innovative system that’s reduced the risk of pressure injuries by half at Member hospital Trillium Health Partners. https://lnkd.in/gqHCDNbp These injuries – also known as bed sores or pressure ulcers – typically result from sustained pressure on skin or underlying tissue, often over a bony prominence, and are an ongoing challenge for our health care system:  • Often extremely painful for patients, especially for older or frail patients • Can lead to severe complications like sepsis, limb loss or even death • Costly to treat   Frequent repositioning of patients can help prevent HAPIs – however this carries a heightened risk of shearing and friction, which can lead to further tissue damage to patients. Patient boosting / repositioning also carries a high risk of injury for frontline care providers. Utilizing an MMC contract, THP implemented an air-assisted repositioning system that helps protect patients and frontline staff by significantly reducing risk to patients’ skin integrity and the effort required to move patients.
