Meet Ashley

November 10, 2025

Nurse Practitioner Week is November 9 – 15, we’re celebrating by highlighting one of our skilled and dedication NPs.

Name: Ashley Dixon

Pronouns: She/her

Title & Department: Nurse Practitioner, Bay Centre for Sexual Health

On the WCH team for: 3 years at WCH, 1 year as a Nurse Practitioner at Bay Centre

1. What does your typical day look like?

On a typical day in clinic, I see patients for a variety of sexual health and contraception needs. This can range from a simple discussion to explore contraception options, to procedures such as IUD or implant insertion, or assessment for medical or surgical abortion. Each day is different! I am also involved in projects such as medical directive updates and chart reviews, updating the Bay Centre website, the Nursing Advisory Council, and the Menopause Advisory Working Group.

2. What excites you the most about working at WCH?

As a nurse practitioner, I love being able to support patients to make informed decisions about contraception and their sexual and reproductive health in a safe and nonjudgmental space. The patients are why I love doing what I do! I also feel lucky to work with such a dedicated group of nurses, physicians, NPs, and support staff. WCH is a great place to work and I appreciate the opportunities I have had to be involved in projects within the clinic and hospital, to improve patient care and experience.

3. How does your work contribute to making a positive patient experience?

This past summer I completed The Menopause Society certification exam to become a Menopause Society Certified Practitioner. I am excited to build on this knowledge to support WCH patients in the menopause transition.

4. Tell us one to three things that your colleagues would be surprised to learn about you.

I have lived and worked in BC, Quebec, and Ontario. I have two rescue dogs from Taiwan, and I love to read and do crafts in my spare time. This year so far I have read 51 books!

Thank you to our nurse practitioners who provide exceptional care and make a lasting difference in the lives of their patients every day.
