The More Rewarding Way To Recycle
About us
The environment is facing some serious challenges - litter, pollution and climate change - and this all stems from the way we consume. We believe that a healthy environment comes from the smart use of materials around us. That means maximizing use and re-use so that nothing is wasted, and ensuring nothing is truly thrown away. But belief is nothing without action. We keep the recycling wheels in motion and innovate solutions for tomorrow - developing new opportunities for a smarter recyclable future. With 82,000 systems in over 60 markets, we're the world leader in Reverse Vending Solutions. Every year we collect and recycle more than 35 billion cans and bottles - these materials are captured, recycled and turned back into new bottles and cans. Join us, and become a resource revolutionary. We provide the reverse vending machines for the Return and Earn container deposit scheme in New South Wales, and we are hosting 10 collection points in Queensland for Containers For Change. TOMRA also offers the myTOMRA app for digital payout of your refunds via PayPal. 100% of all containers collected are completely recycled.

🏆 We’re proud to announce that we've been named the AFIA Waste and Recycling Company of the Year for 2025! ♻️ Saturday 6 September 2025 the TOMRA Cleanaway Team gathered to attend the 35 Australian Freight Industry Awards in Melbourne where we were announced as the 2025 Waste and Recycling Company of the Year! The award is a testament to the hard work, innovation, and commitment of our entire team across Australia. Every collection, every sustainable solution, every partnership — adds up to something bigger and more meaningful. And today, we celebrate the impact we’re making together. Being recognised by the AFIA is a true honour. It reflects our shared vision for a cleaner, more circular future and of the significant contribution to communities across NSW, Victoria and Tasmania that we are making. Our CEO James Dorney said, ““This award is a tremendous acknowledgement of the work our teams do every day to deliver efficient, world-class recycling solutions for Australians. It highlights the vital role that container deposit systems and modern recycling infrastructure play in protecting our environment, reducing waste, and creating real value from resources that would otherwise be lost.” A huge thank you to Team TOMRA Cleanaway, our partners, and the communities we serve. This award is also a reflection of the significant value that Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) schemes can deliver, and true tripartite collaboration in all the states we operate. 🌍 Read our article here for more information, https://ow.ly/OffO50WSSkN TOMRA Collection Australia Cleanaway Waste Management NSW Environment Protection Authority (EPA) Exchange for Change Recycling Victoria VicReturn Department of Natural Resources and Environment Tasmania (NRE Tas) TasRecycle #Sustainability #AFIAAwards #WasteAndRecycling #CircularEconomy #EnvironmentalImpact #Teamwork #InnovationInWaste

This Pride Month 🌈 we’re reflecting on what it really means to build better systems, for materials and for people.👇 At TOMRA, we design systems that recover resources and keep materials in play, again and again. But true progress means asking deeper questions, not just about how systems work, but who they work for. 🤔💡 Inclusion isn’t about squeezing more people into pre-set boxes. It’s about rethinking why those boxes were there in the first place, and creating space for everyone to define themselves. 💪 This #PrideMonth, let’s remember that the best systems include more, and evolve. They open up. And when they do, we all move forward. 🚀 Learn more about how we’re working on diversity, equity, and inclusion 👉 https://lnkd.in/dut68X8K

Help us break the cycle of homelessness. Next week, Tor Eirik Knutsen, President & CEO of TOMRA Collection Australia, and David Hanrahan, NSW General Manager, will take part in the Vinnies CEO Sleepout. For one night, they’ll swap the comfort of their homes for the cold, hard ground, all to raise awareness and much-needed funds for the 122,000+ Australians experiencing homelessness. Homelessness is growing across the country. Too many people are living without the basic security of a safe place to sleep. The CEO Sleepout shines a light on this issue and helps Vinnies continue their vital work. TOMRA has worked with Vinnies through Container Deposit Schemes around Australia, including NSW’s “Return and Earn” and Tasmania’s “Recycle Rewards.” This year, we’re proud to stand with them in a more personal way. With the money we raise, we can provide food, crisis accommodation, counselling, employment, education, and many more critical services to help people secure permanent housing. One night can make a lasting impact and with your support, we can make a real difference. Any amount, big or small, makes a difference. This year's #WorldEnvironmentDay is a call for collective action to tackle #PlasticPollution. Exactly two months from now, delegates from around the world will meet again to continue negotiating a global treaty to end plastic pollution, improve waste management around the world, and accelerate our journey towards a circular economy. At TOMRA, we believe the treaty presents a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to speed up adoption of policies to address this crisis and develop an international legally-binding instrument to begin solving it. At its core, this should include: 🚮 Providing access to general waste collection for all citizens in all regions 🎯 Setting specific and ambitious recycling targets 📝 Establishing legislated well-designed #ExtendedProducerResponsibility Want to know more about where TOMRA stands?
