Inspiring and empowering the next generation

About us

Wyndham Tech School is a STEM Centre of Excellence where industry, education and community collaborate to shape the future. We ignite curiosity, engagement, and collaboration through an industry-driven curriculum and hands-on exploration of advanced technologies. Our role is to support our partner schools in providing secondary students with the skills they need to flourish in careers of the future. We act as a hub to engage students and the community in project-based activities using technology and processes inspired by our local industry, including Health, Transport and Logistics, Professional Services, Agriculture, Building and Construction. We offer programs, projects and spaces that integrate technology across all subjects, and drive the use of problem-solving, design-thinking and project management. We offer all partner schools across Wyndham and Hobsons Bay free and inclusive access to programs, teacher professional development, industry and community events.

  • What happens when food, art, technology and community all come together? 🍲🤖✨ We partnered with Wyndham City Council and the creative team at Long Prawn to host their ‘Hat, Hand & Boot Hot Pot ‘, an interactive culinary art experience that transformed our building into a futuristic food lab. Touring our Smart Farm and creating their own “future food” hot pot, diners explored Indigenous ingredients 🧢 synthetic proteins 🙏 food waste innovation 🥾 and the role technology plays in sustainable future food solutions. This partnership brought our space to life in an entirely new way. Thank you Long Prawn and PLAYTE Kitchen for your playful and thought-provoking vision, and Wyndham City Council for supporting meaningful, future-focused experiences like this for our community 💚 To be full  Of soup  Cooked  By a friend.  – Alice Walker, No Better Life, Absolute Trust in the Goodness of the Earth 📷 Photography by Kit Edwards

  • 200+ primary students 🤝 Robots 🤝 Indiana Jones vibes 🤠 3, 2, 1… LEGO®! Another one of our favourite events of the year: The FIRST LEGO LEAGUE CHALLENGE Regional Finals! At just 10-11 years old, these young engineers designed, built and programmed their own robots to take on this year’s UNEARTHED™ challenge, working in teams to uncover hidden treasures and pitch their own archaeological innovations 🗺️ 🤩 A big thank you to: 🌟 Michael Laird from Wyndham Vale Primary School for his dedication in coordinating this huge event 📚 Sally Hand & Victoria University’s Werribee Campus Library for transforming their space into our official Judging Sites 💛 Kim Davies and the Salesforce team, Tiang Cheng from Rocket Academy and Alex Morton from Microsoft for volunteering as judges  🍩 OMG! Decadent Donuts for keeping everyone buzzing throughout the day! Events like this spark curiosity, build confidence, and show young people just how exciting STEM can be. We couldn’t do this work without amazing partners like you 🥹

  • ❤️🔥 Year 8 Student: “STEM Racing gave us opportunities that no other school event can provide. It allowed us to learn engineering, marketing, graphic design, public speaking, networking, how to raise money, how to think on the spot and numerous other things.” THIS is what STEM Racing is all about! 🏎️ See what else students, teachers and industry partners had to say at the VIC State Finals that were proudly held right here at Wyndham Tech School 🏁 🏆 ❤️🔥 “I was able to put myself in real word situations by finding sponsors and compromising with my teammates. This helped me prepare for life outside of school which is rare to learn in school classes.” - Year 8 student ❤️🔥 “I didn't know much about STEM but I loved the idea of creating stuff. Now I have skills in both graphic design and CAD. Prior to STEM Racing I wished to be a graphic designer. However after discovering my options, I would love to find a career in CAD.” - Year 7 student Did you know that Australia is currently experiencing its worst engineering skills shortage ever with an estimated 25,000 engineers due to retire in the next five years? With engaging and impactful programs like this, we can see in real time how perspectives shift, futures open, and change in the world actually starts to happen 🚀 If you or your organisation would like to make an impact on young people's lives with next year's competition as a sponsor, volunteer, or mentor, we’d love to hear from you! 💌 https://lnkd.in/gRYBYCuu Thank you to the inspiring voices from Camberwell Grammar School Korowa Anglican Girls' School Andrew Murray The Knox School St Bede's College Peter Russell Dylan Nguyen BUGBOX The Grange P-12 College

  • “It was an eye-opening experience and now I am considering tech pathways as well” - Year 10 student that attended our Women in Tech event yesterday! 💟 A huge thank you to the inspiring women from Adobe and Oracle who made this day possible 🥹 Through speed networking and AI podcasting, 22 female students from Melbourne’s West discovered just how many career pathways exist in the world of tech, gaining confidence and a new sense of possibility for their futures. A special thanks to Dr Loz from SciencePlay Kids for her creative and interactive presentation showing that tech isn’t just coding or computers, but a powerful tool used in every industry, including wildlife conservation, fashion, and art 🤩 Did you know that women currently make up less than 30% of the Australian tech workforce? Industry and education working together like this are how we can change that! 💟 “I definitely feel more confident now in my pursuit of a career in tech.” - Year 10 student 💟 “Before I was confused about tech but now I’m more interested.” - Year 11 student 💟 “I am more interested in pursuing a career in tech now, after listening to more women in tech.” - Year 10 student We’re so grateful to all the incredible women who shared their time, stories, and experiences to empower our next generation of tech leaders ❤️🔥

✨ This morning I had the privilege of attending the Women in Tech Mentoring Morning at Wyndham Tech School . I left feeling energised, inspired, and incredibly hopeful about the future of tech. Meeting the next generation of innovators and seeing their curiosity, confidence, and creativity in action was a powerful reminder of how far we’ve come and how much potential lies ahead. I have to admit… I’m a little jealous! The facilities at Wyndham Tech School are phenomenal!! A dream playground for any budding technologist. From designing race cars to 3D printing almost anything to creating the future of sustainable farming - I couldn’t help but think how different my own school experience might have been with access to such incredible resources. A huge thank you to the organisers and educators who are shaping these bright minds. The future is in good hands. 💡👩💻🌏 Ifradh Imthiyaz MIEAust MRAeS MSAEA And thank you to my fellow Adobe colleagues for making it a fun morning! Wyndham Tech School’s AI strategy helps accelerate AI in learning 🚀 Wyndham Tech School, hosted by Victoria University, a partner of the FSO Skills Accelerator-AI, is helping leaders and teachers embed AI in learning, confidently and quickly through an AI strategy that brings together industry, school leadership, teachers, careers practitioners, and students. The result:  ▶️ AI capability embedded across leadership, teaching, and student programs  ▶️ Pilots tied to school strategic plans and priorities  ▶️ Scalable model designed for replication beyond Wyndham Tech School’s network  ▶️ Strong positioning between university, schools, and industry “Just having access to tools is a start but it isn't enough. Our sweet spot is showing schools how to translate them into pedagogy and curriculum, teaching and learning, student engagement, inclusion and access,” says Sam Nikolsky, Director, Wyndham Tech School. • One of our favourite weeks here at Wyndham Tech School: STEM Racing VIC State Finals! 🏎️ 🏁 115+ students came from across the state to put their engineering, design, manufacturing, and teamwork skills to the ultimate test. Across three action-packed days, we saw incredible student talent in CAD, physics, marketing, graphic design, verbal comms, and even enterprise management, showcasing just how diverse STEM really is ❤️🔥 A huge congratulations to all 29 teams who made it to the State Finals 👏 And a special shoutout to team Typhoon from our partner school, Alamanda College in Point Cook, who were crowned the overall VIC Champions, taking home 10 awards and a spot at the Australian National Finals! 🏆 None of this would've been possible without the generous industry professionals who volunteered their time as judges. Thank you for sharing your real-world expertise and showing students all the different STEM careers that are actually possible for them in their futures. If you or your organisation would like to make an impact on young people's lives with next year's competition as a sponsor, volunteer, or mentor, we’d love to hear from you! 💌 https://lnkd.in/gRYBYCuu
