About us

We’ve ensured the smooth operation of over 11,517 km of high-voltage transmission lines and 136 substations and switching stations across NSW and the ACT, with interconnections to QLD and VIC. Our most crucial work is leading the transition to Australia’s clean energy future. The traditional coal system that served our country for decades is nearing the end of its life, to be replaced by wind and solar generation. We’re making the right decisions now to prepare for the opportunities and challenges ahead – a changing climate, population growth and technology innovation. As we lead the way towards a more resilient future, we’re working closely with our customers and communities to make sure no one is left behind. Wherever you are in NSW or the ACT, you can be confident in the reliable, affordable and sustainable electricity we transmit as we make a better power system for generations to come.

  • 👨🚒👩🚒The 𝗢𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝗥𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝗲 𝗕𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗮𝗱𝗲 plays a vital role in protecting communities across Orange and the surrounding region, not just through emergency response, but also by educating locals on bush fire preparedness and safety. Through our 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽𝘀 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺, we’re proud to support their efforts with the purchase of an inflatable smoke house simulator. This interactive tool will be showcased at upcoming community events, helping teach children and families how to respond safely in the event of a fire. With volunteer numbers declining, initiatives like these are more important than ever, not only to raise awareness, but to inspire the next generation of volunteers. • How do you build a major transmission line while protecting some of NSW’s most ecologically and culturally sensitive landscapes? For project #EnergyConnect, that challenge became an opportunity to redefine how large-scale infrastructure is planned and built. Together with our delivery partner, we reimagined traditional construction methods to minimise environmental impact and preserve cultural heritage. By embedding ecological expertise into every stage of planning and delivery, our teams: ✅ Cut native vegetation clearing by 45% – preserving over 1,000 hectares of habitat. ✅ Installed 6,400 nest boxes for hollow-dependent species. ✅ Partnered with First Nations monitors and local landowners to safeguard cultural heritage. ✅ Avoided 267,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions – equivalent to the carbon stored in 133 million fire extinguishers. We’re proud to be a Finalist in the 2025 NSW Sustainability Awards, but the true success lies in creating a legacy of responsible energy infrastructure that respects Country, supports biodiversity, and benefits communities for generations. Last night, we celebrated ten talented apprentices who officially completed their trades at the 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗡𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 in Orange. It was fantastic to have our executive team join the celebrations, with CEO Brett Redman kicking things off, followed by Executive General Manager, Delivery Jennifer Hughes and EGM People & Culture Stephen McSweeney presenting three special awards for Apprentice of the Year - Tristan De Jonge, Safety Award - Morgan James and Living the Values - Sean Grady. A huge congratulations to all our winners and all the apprentices! Every trade completed strengthens our energy future. • A paddock in a small locality in the Riverina has been transformed into a world-class substation critical to delivering new renewable power to the national grid. Once the Dinawan substation is commissioned, it will integrate new solar and wind generation from the NSW Government's South West Renewable Energy Zone, unlocking cleaner, more affordable electricity for households and businesses as part of project #EnergyConnect. This milestone has been made possible thanks to the efforts of more than 750 people who’ve worked on site. Together, they’ve helped: ✔ Move 275,000 cubic metres of fill (that’s 27,500 truck loads) to create the bench ✔ Install two 120 MVAr synchronous condensers — each weighing 300 tonnes — inside a purpose-built machine hall ✔ Fit four shunt reactors and two capacitor banks Find out more: https://brnw.ch/21wXpcU Elecnor Australia

Our team is once again taking to the skies with Raedyne Systems, using 𝗦𝗺𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗔𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗜𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 (𝗦𝗔𝗜𝗣) to inspect high-voltage transmission lines conductors across NSW and the ACT to keep the power flowing safely and reliably for our communities. 🚁 With helicopters fitted with advanced conductor tracking cameras, we capture high-resolution images of our network. AI and data analytics then help us spot early signs of wear or damage, so we can take action before issues arise. Over the past four years, we’ve inspected 1,700 kilometres of conductors, with another 600 kilometres to be added this year. By combining 𝘁𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆, 𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗮 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗳𝗶𝗲𝗹𝗱 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗶𝘀𝗲, we’re improving how we manage risks and building a network ready for the future, supporting a safe and reliable energy transition for our communities. A huge thank you to all the teams involved in making this program a success.
