  • An interesting spread of answers here. What matters though, is not whether someone is driven by fear or reward, but whether one understands the engine behind their decisions. Fear sharpens focus. Reward lifts ambition. Both help and both hinder if we are unaware of how they shape our behaviour. Anyone seeking to grow their influence needs to see the game as it actually plays, with people being driven by competing internal forces. The simple carrot or stick approach rarely works for long. It takes nuance, context and skill to apply the right tools at the right time. Some of us move forward because fear pushes us. Others because motivation pulls us. Most of us need a blend of both. There are effective and ineffective ways to work with these drivers, and understanding that difference is where targeted education matters. #leadership #personaldevelopment

  • We’re grateful for leaders like Amra Herrmann who step into our leadership programs with curiosity, discipline and a willingness to sharpen their thinking. Her reflection captures exactly what we aim to create. A place where ideas are tested, not softened, and where people bring their best so others can do the same. Thank you for your contribution to our program, Amra. We’re happy to have you in our circle 🙌 #leadership #personaldevelopment

That's a wrap. This 10-part debate series led by our CEO David Neal, proved something simple: leadership grows sharper in conversation, not silence. What started as questions about different leadership conundrums turned into a test of conviction. Many of you stepped up, challenged yourself to take a side, defend it, and stay curious and open in the process. That’s what real leadership looks like. Not agreement, but awareness. Not answers, but the courage to explore the hard ones. To everyone who joined in, thank you for reminding us why good debate still matters. And to those who were awarded with the most intelligent responses, thank you for taking a clear stance. We look forward to seeing you in our 2026 leadership development programs. #Leadership #Debate #TheEighthMile #GoodPeopleHelpingGoodPeople

  • 𝐈𝐧 𝐬𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐧𝐨𝐰: Operational Leadership Program, Module 4: Solving Problems. This morning the group is tackling risk and opportunity, assumption-based planning, and the balance between hierarchy, responsibility, and return. They're realising that true operational leadership is the art of choosing where to invest your energy, not just your resources. #Leadership #PersonalDevelopment

  • You don’t learn leadership from a whiteboard. You learn it when you’re unsure, a bit nervous, and trying to land a paper plane while your team’s yelling at you with instructions. That’s where communication gets tested and leadership gets real. We build leaders for companies who don’t do comfort zones and don’t settle for average. • Someone’s great at their job, so they get promoted. Suddenly, the work changes. The challenge isn’t the task anymore, it’s the people. That was a point of contention in one of our recent Tactical Leadership Program workshops. Everyone agreed that’s where new leaders struggle most. Because the skills that earn promotions aren’t the same ones that sustain leadership. Technical ability can earn titles. Leadership requires trust. The shift isn’t easy, but it’s where real growth begins and that’s exactly what we talked through with this cohort of emerging leaders. • Some teams talk about high performance. Others commit to it. Today with CPM that commitment meant stepping into real-world scenarios where no single style works every time. Because leadership isn’t about being right. It’s about reading the room, adjusting the approach, and helping others move forward when things change. Scenario training isn’t theory. It’s practice for the moments that count. #Leadership #TeamDevelopment #HighPerformance

  • “Just be yourself.” Sounds simple, until one is leading people. Authentic leadership isn’t about showing up the same way every day. It’s about reading the room, understanding the people in front of us, and showing up as the version of ourselves they need, without selling out on our values. As Jonathan Clark and Melissa Bardsley shared in greater detail with our current Operational Leadership Program cohort, there’s a time for openness and vulnerability, and there's a time for strength and clarity. The art of leadership is knowing which mask to wear, when, and why. Leadership isn’t about pretending. It’s about adapting with integrity. • 𝐈𝐧 𝐬𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐧𝐨𝐰: Tactical Leadership Program, Module 4: Solving Problems. Today the group is separating fact from assumption, understanding control, influence and interest, and exploring how diversity of thought strengthens every decision. Because good leaders don’t just solve problems, they solve the right ones. The quality of a solution always depends on the quality of the thinking behind it. #LeadershipDevelopment #PersonalDevelopment
