We’re proud to celebrate Asha, who has recently completed her Certificate III in Individual Support! Throughout her school-based apprenticeship, Asha has shown dedication, resilience and a genuine passion for supporting others. Our team recently joined Welcome to SA, an event hosted by the Department of State Development, which helps newly arrived migrants connect with employment, housing, and multicultural support services as they settle into life in South Australia. SYC has been proud to be part of this event for three years, sharing information about RentRight SA, our free service that helps people understand their renting rights and navigate tenancy challenges. Welcome to SA is an important opportunity to support culturally and linguistically diverse communities, who can be at higher risk of rental scams or being taken advantage of due to limited knowledge of Australian tenancy laws. Being there to guide, empower and answer questions makes a real difference as people find their feet in a new place. It’s always a privilege to help people feel confident, informed and at home in South Australia. To learn more about RentRight SA, visit https://lnkd.in/gvPCMpF7 #SYC #soyoucan

Our team had a great time at the 2025 Apprentice Employment Network SA Annual Conference. It was a brilliant opportunity to connect with the people and organisations who are all working to strengthen the future of apprenticeships and traineeships in South Australia. These insights help us continue to deliver the right support through SYC’s Apprenticeship Services, backing apprentices, trainees and employers from the very beginning. Thanks to AEN SA for bringing the sector together for such an engaging day. #aensaconference #SYC #soyoucan

Inclusion at Work Week, an initiative of Diversity Council Australia Ltd, encourages organisations to reflect on how we create workplaces where people feel safe, respected and able to thrive. At SYC, we’ve been strengthening our approach to diversity and inclusion by listening to our staff, deepening our understanding and taking meaningful steps to implement and improve our awareness and actions. Today, we’re proud to share that SYC has been recognised as an Inclusive Employer by Diversity Council Australia for 2025–2026. This acknowledgment, grounded in the experiences of our staff, reinforces the importance of building a workplace where everyone feels they belong. We’re grateful for our team, whose diversity, insight and contributions make SYC stronger every day. “During my time in the program, I have experienced fantastic, holistic support to develop my independent living skills with the goal of seeking long-term housing for myself. " - Sam. Sam has been engaged with SYC Community Services programs since 2023. They first connected with SYC through our housing program, which offers affordable housing for young people who are experiencing, or at risk of, homelessness. "Through consistent support and taking advantage of connections with other support programs, I have developed the skills I need to maintain a private tenancy and will soon be moving on into public housing.” - Sam SYC is proud to work with young people like Sam, providing programs that offer safe, affordable housing and meaningful opportunities to develop the skills and confidence needed to live independently and pursue their goals. Last Friday, we were proud to attend and sponsor the Graduate of the Year Award at the 2025 NAWIC SA Awards for Excellence. Each year, the NAWIC Awards shine a spotlight on the remarkable achievements of women, businesses and allies who are redefining the narrative and shaping the future of the construction industry. Congratulations to Raheleh Peyvandi, undergraduate engineer at John Holland, who received the Graduate of the Year Award. Our Apprenticeship Support Officer, Dina, had the pleasure of presenting the award on the night. It was a fantastic evening celebrating the talent, dedication and success within South Australia’s construction sector. A huge congratulations to Raheleh and to all the finalists and award winners. Inclusive Employment Australia is about to go live, and we couldn’t be more excited to begin this new program, supporting people with disability to pursue and achieve their chosen careers. Over two days, we brought together our Inclusive Employment Australia team to connect, share and get ready to launch. With such an inspired, diverse, and experienced group, we know we’re off to a great start. Our launch event gave our new team members the opportunity to connect with long-standing SYC colleagues, share knowledge and experience and learn more about how SYC will support both our team and participants. A highlight of the event was the keynote address from Chris Blowes, Disability Advocate, Australian Para Surf Champion and Author, who reminded us of the power of resilience, community, capability and self-determination in the face of adversity. Chris shared how returning to work after trauma not only gave him purpose but helped him rediscover joy and fulfilment in a career he’s passionate about. As a team, we’re committed to working alongside people with disability to create opportunities for wellbeing, independence, and meaningful employment. Day 1, here we come. #SYC #soyoucan #InclusiveEmploymentAustralia

Celebrating 10 Years of Tenancy Support! Ten years ago, we started supporting South Australians with their rental challenges. What began as the Tenant Information and Advocacy Service (TIAS) has grown into RentRight SA, a free service offering independent advice, advocacy, and financial counselling to help tenants stay safely housed. As demand for housing support continues to grow, we’re proud our dedicated staff are there on the other end of every call. Every day, our team empowers tenants, helps prevent homelessness, and works to create fairer outcomes across the rental sector.
