On World Children’s Day, we’re calling for urgent national action to give kids the support they deserve. Today Smiling Mind publishes a new report that exposes severe systemic gaps amidst an alarming child mental health crisis. We’ve heard from thousands of Australian parents who are faced with unacceptable wait times and huge costs, as a result of an overstretched and under-resourced system that’s unable to cope with demand. It’s time for Australia to rethink our approach to mental health support for children. 📄 Download our white paper to see the evidence, hear real parent stories, and explore a blueprint for change ✍️ Add your voice to the call for urgent action https://hubs.la/Q03V9nJG0 #WorldChildrensDay #OurKidsCount #ChildrensMentalHealth

We wholeheartedly agree! Prevention IS Beyond Urgent, and together we can put the systems, policies and practices in place that will support all Australians to thrive. EverymindAU's report highlights that childhood is our most powerful prevention opportunity. There’s so much more to do, and together with our sector colleagues, we’ll continue to advocate for a preventive mental health system that supports all Australians to live mentally healthy lives.
Scaling up prevention knowledge across policy and practice is now beyond urgent, but it is possible. The newly released ‘Beyond urgent’ report presents a high-level synthesis of key opportunities and actions drawn from the Prevention in Practice Summit 2025, held in September. Thank you to everyone who participated in this year's Summit, and to our event partners, Manna Institute, Mental Health Commission of NSW, and Prevention United. 📄 Read the report: https://lnkd.in/ecS34vxG 📽️ Watch the session recordings: https://lnkd.in/gDrSSA8Y

What if the key to a child’s learning outcomes was sitting right next to them? While friendships can come naturally to some kids, many find peer connections a real challenge. This gap can directly impact classroom participation, attendance, and academic outcomes. The good news? We can support schools and teachers to actively create conditions where kids can build healthy connection skills and empower them to thrive. Our guide, "Encouraging Friendships in the Classroom," breaks down the evidence behind how groups form, what we can do to support students who are struggling, with practical activities to strengthen classroom bonds. Read to find out: - Why partner selection matters more than you might think - How a blended learning approach with mindfulness practices improves emotional regulation and relationship building - Tips to boost connections across diverse learning styles and personalities What works in your school community to support kids' friendships? What if kids could learn to build strong, healthy minds the same way they learn the ABC’s? Just like we teach kids to brush their teeth and wear sunscreen, we can empower them with mental fitness skills to navigate life’s ups and downs, sustain healthy relationships, manage change, and make good decisions. We can all build these skills, and the earlier we start, the better. ✨ Swipe to see how mental fitness comes to life in classrooms in our Smiling Mind Primary School Program posters, and celebrate Mental Health Awareness Month by sharing to help build stronger minds together. 💪 🧠 #MentalHealthAwarenessMonth #MentalFitness #ChildMentalHealth #OurKidsCount #SocialEmotionalLearning

“Mental fitness isn’t about removing challenges. It’s about giving children the skills to face them with confidence.” — Sarah La Roche, CEO At our Reimagining Childhood Lunch, we shared what it means to build generational change in mental health. Every dollar raised fuels children’s futures, not profits. Every program delivered builds lifelong skills. Every supporter brings us closer to our vision. This is what reimagining childhood looks like. 💛 #ReimaginingChildhood #SmilingMind #GenerationalChange #MentalFitness

What if every child had the mental fitness tools they need to thrive? Just like we teach children to eat well, stay active, and look after their bodies, we can teach them the skills to build strong, healthy minds. Starting early means they can grow up mentally strong, confident, and ready to handle life’s ups and downs. This Mental Health Awareness Month, we’re celebrating how we can make mental fitness as accessible as physical fitness in every home, classroom and community in Australia. Celebrate by sharing with someone who’s helping kids build stronger minds. Together, we can change a generation. 💪🧠 #MentalHealthAwarenessMonth #MentalFitness #ChildMentalHealth #OurKidsCount

✨ A day filled with energy, warmth, and purpose. ✨ Yesterday we hosted our first Reimagining Childhood Fundraising Lunch, where leaders and supporters came together to raise vital funds for Smiling Mind. We heard from experts and individuals who shared powerful personal stories, all in support of our bold vision to reimagine childhood. This support helps us build on our existing impact: •🏫 Our school program has impacted 1,769 schools across Australia - 270,000 students last year •🌍 We’ve supported 14M children & young people globally •👨👩👧 Two-thirds of primary school program participants report a wellbeing benefit These aren’t just numbers, they’re children learning to focus, connect, and build confidence for life. 💛 This is only the beginning. Thank you to everyone helping us shape a stronger future for the next generation. 👉 Watch the highlights: https://lnkd.in/gTbhWzNk #ReimaginingChildhood #SmilingMind #GenerationalChange #MentalFitness
