Towards a Better Tomorrow - moving humanity towards a better tomorrow for girls and communities globally.

About us

Hunger, economic instability, climate change and conflict are devastating the lives of millions, pushing them further into disadvantage and inequality. Girls, globally, bear the greatest burden of this injustice - denied education, subjected to violence, and robbed of their freedoms. When offered the opportunity to learn, make decisions, thrive, and lead the change, we see girls rise to help create a better world for themselves, their families and the communities around them. This is why we are there, providing emergency response and long-term community development programs in 70 countries around the world. Working alongside local communities, we provide the support and assistance needed to survive emergencies and forge a way forward; to see girls valued and empowered, and future generations inherit a brighter, more equitable future. Together, we have the power to move humanity towards a better tomorrow for girls and communities globally. Will you join us?

The Australian Council for International Development and 21 humanitarian agencies are raising alarm at the ongoing catastrophe in Sudan, the largest humanitarian crisis in the world today. The Sudan Humanitarian Needs and Response Plan 2025 was developed by the United Nations in response to global funding shortfalls and attempted to reprioritise need in order to maximise lifesaving assistance to those most vulnerable. However, the Response Plan remains critically underfunded, at just under 28 per cent. In the face of this tragedy, we call on the Australian Government to: - Provide an additional $40 million in humanitarian assistance to Sudan, matching the government’s humanitarian support to Sudan in 2023 and 2024 of $50 million. - Place diplomatic pressure on all state and non-state actors providing military, financial, logistical and other support to the conflicting parties of the crisis to ensure: -Humanitarian access to all areas and the safe passage of humanitarian support -The protection of humanitarian workers, particularly local staff and volunteers and including through financial support -Adherence to international humanitarian law -Contribute to multilateral efforts toward a ceasefire and accountability for perpetrators See the full statement here: https://lnkd.in/g4TegJdi

Adolescent girls in Northern Uganda’s refugee settlements are driving change in some of the most complex environments globally. They are rebuilding their lives after displacement, asserting their rights and entering local economies through small enterprises and savings groups, often in settings where risks for girls remain high. With Plan International Australia, we are investing in the support systems around them by improving access to adolescent focused health and protection services, building stronger and more reliable savings groups, and widening pathways for girls to start small businesses and earn a stable income through climate smart local livelihoods. Working with boys and young men continues to shift the social norms that limit girls’ opportunities. On World Children’s Day, we highlight the determination of these girls and young mothers and the practical, community level change they are driving across refugee and host communities.  📸 Lucia at her food stall in Boroli Refugee Settlement. • We are horrified by reports that armed men abducted 25 schoolgirls in Nigeria’s Kebbi State in the early hours of Monday, 17 November 2025. Attackers killed the vice principal and abducted the principal along with the students. Plan International Nigeria’s Country Director, Charles Usie, condemns this abduction and calls for the immediate protection of children across Nigeria: "We also call for stronger community-based protection systems, improved early warning mechanisms, and increased investment in school safety across all states. Plan International stands with the families and communities affected by this attack. “Our organisation remains committed to supporting efforts that protect children, especially girls, and ensure that they can learn in safe and supportive environments. Every child deserves to go to school without fear. Every girl deserves to live and learn in safety. Nigeria must ensure that such tragedies are not repeated.” Read the full statement: https://lnkd.in/gdJPK6Zq

  • In the last three weeks we have been able to send food to feed over 200,000 people in #Gaza and dignity and hygiene kits to over 13,000 people. Hope is growing but children, like Farah, still need urgent support. Every hour counts in Gaza. Donate now to get life-saving food and nutrition supplies into Gaza. 🔗 in bio.

  • A second powerful typhoon has struck the #Philippines in less than a week, forcing thousands of people from their homes and compounding the devastation left by an earlier storm. With wind gusts reaching 215 km/h, the storm has caused severe flooding, power outages, and deadly landslides across several provinces. Thousands of families have been forced to flee as coastal villages were swallowed by surging waters. Plan International has deployed emergency response teams to the hardest-hit areas to quickly assess needs and provide clean water, hygiene supplies, and other essentials to those most in need.
