I had the pleasure of attending the Middle East GC Summit hosted by Rohan Bilimoria and the Law Ninjas team. The discussions were grounded in the real challenges and opportunities shaping legal teams across the region. A few reflections that stood out to me: 🔹 AI is moving firmly into the operational space. The conversations focused on actual use cases, practical guardrails, and the regulatory sandbox models helping organisations adopt AI responsibly rather than hypothetically. 🔹 Cross-border compliance continues to test even the most seasoned teams. With companies operating across multiple jurisdictions, navigating conflicting regulatory expectations remains a constant balancing act. 🔹 What GCs expect from both internal teams and external advisers was especially impactful. The emphasis on hybrid experience, combining in-house understanding with disputes or litigation exposure. It was also a wonderful chance to reconnect with friends and meet new, genuinely inspiring lawyers including Moutaz Abdullat, Sabrine Makkes, LL.M., Esq., CCEP-I, Ali Haidar, Mohammad Abandah, Laila ElShentenawi, Amira Fayad, CIPP/E, CIPM, Chehade Kahi, Fadi Kilani, Myriam Bouchrara مريم بوشرارة, Donia Droubi, Purvi P., Rebecca Gerges, Yosr Hamza. The summit underscored the strength of our regional legal community and the impact we can achieve when leading practitioners come together to share insight and advance the profession.

Had a wonderful time at Law Ninjas 🥷 Middle East GC Summit yesterday, meeting friends, colleagues, and peers! I enjoyed the discussions on the future of legal support - more efficiencies, legal design, customer experience, and productisation (a journey that I'm on and building). Was also inspired listening to Hala Rharrit speaking up and standing up to our values! Loved this discussion because humanity evolves when we share stories. And great question by Mizna Nabil on how to navigate standing up for causes as a law student - do you put yourself out there or run the risk of being labelled as a troublemaker? A balances approach is key here. Finally, how does the new generation equip themselves in the era of AI and validate the outputs from AI - something that comes with experience? I believe in a combination of training (driven by lawyers with experience) and learning-on-the-job for the new generations, and giving back is one of the things that I'd love to work on in the coming months! What ideas do you have about supporting the next generation of lawyers through the transformation we're going through?

This week in Dubai, we brought together legal leaders driving the next chapter of contracting in the Middle East. We kicked things off with an intimate dinner for contracting and procurement leaders in the city, where Akshay Doshi hosted a fireside chat with Ganesh Parameswaran, unpacking how legal teams can balance speed, compliance and collaboration in today's digital era. The conversations continued at the Middle East GC Summit hosted by Law Ninjas 🥷 , where Akshay joined a panel alongside Stephen Farmer, Stefka Bratoevska and Rebecca G. The discussion explored how legal teams are quantifying AI’s impact and translating innovation into measurable business value. Both discussions centered around how legal can optimise for efficiency, and it reinforced what we’ve always believed: the Middle East’s legal community is ready to lead boldly, build smarter and redefine how things work. A huge thank-you to everybody who joined us — your curiosity and collaboration continue to inspire us! 📸 Here’s a glimpse into what made this week so special. To know where we’re heading next, drop us a note at events@spotdraft.com ~ we’d love to meet you at our next event! #SpotDraft #LawNinjas #LegalOps #ContractManagement #LegalInnovation #MiddleEastLegal #Dubai

I had the chance to participate in the Middle East GC Summit 2025 in Dubai, organised by Law Ninjas 🥷and Rohan Bilimoria. The content of the sessions was diverse and highly relevant to the challenges in-house legal teams face today: the latest key legal trends in the region, the use of AI in our daily tasks, and legal teams' performance and enablers. All topics were spot on.  Thank you to all contributors. It is so rewarding to feel the high energy and enthusiasm in addressing the pain points we all face today, and reconnect with colleagues and friends. Great day yesterday at the Law Ninjas 🥷 GC Summit! It was wonderful to see so many familiar faces, catch up with old connections, and meet so many new ones. My highlight was the session on “The future of in-house legal support: Contractors, secondments and more.” It really reinforced that what we’re building at RAYNE is making a meaningful impact in the in-house legal world, and it was invaluable to hear directly from GC's about what they truly need from this model. Big shoutout to Rohan Bilimoria and the entire Law Ninjas team for organising such a fantastic event. Already looking forward to next year!

Legal Briefs, Caregiving Griefs #126 I’ve been very selective about what I attend lately. Life forces you to prioritise, whether you like it or not. Time, energy, caregiving, work… it all adds up. But this one? Worth it. Completely. The day was full of strange, grounding full-circle moments. • I finally met people I’ve only known through posts, comments, DMs, or the occasional “you’re doing great, keep going” message at 2 a.m. People who inspired me from a distance long before we ever met in person. Putting a name to a face felt overdue in the best way. • I also met people with whom I somehow managed to build real conversations online, long before we ever shared a room. Turns out authenticity travels even through a screen, if you let it. • And the full-circle moments kept piling up .... Mentees who are now not just professionals but are mentoring others. People breaking their own isolation loops. Connections that finally made sense in person. • Then came Hala Rharrit’s session: “How to Speak Up in the Face of Adversity.” Her words didn’t just land, but they hit exactly where they were supposed to. She reminded us that courage isn’t one big moment; it’s the micro-decisions we make every day. Her session wasn’t just a highlight of the event. It was the highlight of my year. • Annnd ...somehow, in the middle of all that, the real ninjas showed up… and apparently, we’re terrible at hiding.🥷 But it was fun and authentic. It was not your typical LinkedIn “I-just-posted-a-quote-about-resilience” kind. Actual humans who do the work, build the community, and show up, even when life is messy. We didn’t rehearse the pose. We didn’t plan the moment. We were just a group of lawyers who’ve seen enough “see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil” situations to last a lifetime… so we did what any self-respecting legal professionals would do: we turned it into a group photo. There’s something refreshing about rooms where people drop the corporate filters and bring their real selves. No hierarchy. No performance. No polished façades. Just people who care about the profession and the humans inside it. Events like this remind me why I bother juggling a dozen universes at once: because community still matters, and because the legal world doesn’t have to be always "transactional" to be powerful. Law Ninjas 🥷 Rohan Bilimoria, you created a space where people actually connected. The real kind that isn’t wrapped in corporate gloss. And for someone who has been choosing carefully what to show up for… I’m genuinely glad I showed up for this. ⸻ 🧕🏽 Hi, I’m Yosr.
