  • Elphaba taught us that being green is powerful ✨💚🫧🧹 The Western Ground Parrot may not soar over Oz, but they are every bit as magical—an emerald jewel hidden in south-western Australia’s dense coastal heathlands. The Western Ground Parrot is critically endangered. With only around 150 birds remaining in the wild, their world is fragile:, feral predators, and fire threaten their survival. But when we act for good, we can change their story – restoring heathlands, managing fire, and controlling predators through a Natural Heritage Trust project. Because green deserves its place in our own Emerald City. 💚🩷Link in comments

Our RV Investigator has departed Brisbane today on its latest voyage. 👋 The 94-metre ocean research vessel will undertake an eight-day transit from Brisbane to Hobart to be relocated in preparation for its next research venture. Led by a diverse team of maritime archaeologists, submerged landscape researchers and Custodians of Sea Country, the team onboard will investigate underwater cultural heritage sites along the east coast of Australia during the voyage. • From your #FOGO bin to healthy, thriving soils — your organic waste takes quite the journey to become nutrient-rich compost. 🌱 FOGO = Food organics and garden organics. Food scraps, garden waste, and other organic materials are transformed into compost. Compost can be tailored by processors to suit different crops, soils, and farming practices 🚜 On Tim’s farm in New South Wales, pelletised compost is sown into the soil. This helps nutrients reach the roots faster and more effectively. More nutrients mean healthier soil and crops! Australia is recycling more organic waste than ever, turning it into compost to help grow the food that we eat. It’s the #CircularEconomy in action. • Help guide land purchasing to support 30 by 30 🌿🌏 We’ve protected nearly 25% of Australia’s land but to meet our 30 by 30 target, we need to add an additional 39 million hectares. That’s almost twice the size of Victoria! This isn’t just about numbers. It’s about protecting and conserving land that truly matters to support important biodiversity. That’s why the Australian Bushland Program is investing $250 million to accelerate conservation and protect more land. To make sure we do this effectively, we’re asking for your input to help shape how we will undertake strategic land purchasing under the program. 🧭 We want to hear from: • government and non-government organisations with experience in land purchase, protection and management for conservation purposes • potential partners interested in purchasing and protecting high-value biodiversity properties. 📅 A Request for Information (RFI) is now open on AusTender and closes Friday, 12 December 2025. Find the link for the Australian Bushland Program RFI in our comments. #Conservation #30by30 #AustralianBushlandProgram

  • 📢🎉Suppliers, manufacturers and resellers can now apply to register light emitting diode (LED) lamps using the new form in the Energy Rating Product Registration system. This is to support the introduction of mandatory energy performance standards #MEPS, packaging and other requirements. The inclusion of LED lamps under Greenhouse and Energy Minimum Standards (GEMS): • Provides information on the LED lamp packaging and in the Energy Rating Registration Database to help households and businesses find the right lamp for their needs • Ensures good quality, energy efficient LED lamps are available in the Australian market. ⏱️Suppliers intending to supply LED lamps impacted by the new rules must register models on or before 3 March 2026. But you need to get ready now. 🗳️Before you apply ensure: • You read and understand the LED lamp determination • You have an account for the registration system • You have the right information and test reports. To register, and for more information, please see the link in our comments.

  • ⚡Renewable energy is essential to tackling climate change. That’s why Australia is helping improve access to clean and affordable energy in the Pacific. Last year at COP29 in Baku, Azerbaijan, the Australian Government launched REnew Pacific, a 5-year, $75 million program designed to bring the benefits of renewables to rural and remote communities across the Pacific and Timor Leste. 1 year on, there are already projects in 7 countries across the region, delivering things like: 🔹 power in remote schools 🔹 improved clean water access 🔹 affordable solar 🔹 more reliable health services REnew Pacific demonstrates how international collaboration at UN Climate Change conferences can translate into real-world action. 📷 Australian Ambassador for Climate Change Will Nankervis speaking at the REnew Pacific event at the COP30 Australian Pavilion. #COP30noBrasil #COP30Aus #ClimateAction

  • 2025 marks 15 years since #UNESCO added the Australian Convict Sites to the #WorldHeritage list. Across New South Wales, Tasmania, Norfolk Island and Western Australia, they offer a powerful glimpse into Australia’s colonial past. Each site has its own story. But together, they reveal what life was like for convicts. They also remind us of the profound impact colonisation had on First Nations peoples, whose lives and lands were forever changed. 15 years on, these sites continue to inspire important conversations about our past.
