  • The UK has placed its first order for CAIN Soldier Systems, with delivery to 16 Air Assault Brigade—the tip of the UK’s Global Response Force—scheduled for early 2026 using #PersistentSystems world leading MANET technology. Project CAIN introduces a rapidly deployable, high-capacity data and beyond-line-of-sight Communications and Information System (CIS) that represents a major uplift on current capabilities. Building on the Royal Navy’s successful Project EVE rollout in 2023, which used the same technology, CAIN equips frontline forces with a versatile digital backbone capable of integrating sensors, exploiting commercial networks, and delivering the bandwidth required for modern distributed operations. Crucially, #PersistentSystems’ MANET technology has now been widely selected by both US and UK forces as the foundation for their next-generation battlefield command-and-control networks—the digital architecture enabling programs like CAIN to deliver real operational overmatch. For those attending #MILCIS2025 next week in Canberra, #CISTECHSolutions will be showcasing this capability. As a proud #PersistentSystems partner, we are committed to delivering world-leading communications solutions to modern warfighters in Australia.

CAIN Soldier Systems to be delivered to 16 Air Assault Brigade An initial order for CAIN Soldier Systems has been placed, with delivery to 16 Air Assault Brigade anticipated in early 2026. Project CAIN will deliver a rapidly deployable, high-capacity data and beyond line-of-sight Communication and Information System (CIS) for 16 Air Assault Brigade, the forefront of the UK’s Global Response Force. This new capability provides a significant improvement over existing CIS, building on the success of Project EVE delivered by the Royal Navy to the Commando Force in 2023. The new capability will provide this unique user-group with a versatile system to integrate sensors and leverage commercial networks and services effectively, along with the bandwidth necessary for efficient communication distribution. The Project CAIN team, comprising resources from Army HQ (Land Domain C4 team) and UK Defence Innovation, have worked collaboratively to place this initial order, which will see equipment arriving with 16 Air Assault Brigade in the next few months.

The Wave Relay® Ecosystem isn’t about one product or one company. It’s about a unified network of UGVs, UAVs, sensors, and cameras, built by trusted partners, working seamlessly to deliver real-time intelligence, enhanced situational awareness, and true interoperability across the battlefield. By operating on a common, standardized network, Ecosystem devices eliminate the limitations of stovepiped systems. Teams can choose the tools that best fit their mission knowing everything will work together. Warfighters also benefit from reduced size, weight, and power requirements by using integrated devices that deliver multiple functions, communication, computing, video, and more, all in one. The Wave Relay® Ecosystem is also paving the way for the future battlefield. With a shared network and integrated computing, devices can move beyond isolated tasks to share intelligence and enable advanced capabilities like edge computing, AI, and in-network data fusion. Persistent Systems and its partners are committed to delivering the best possible tools, not in isolation, but as part of a greater whole that puts information, interoperability, and mission success first!

The US Army has selected Persistent Systems with an initial $34 million order to deliver the Next Generation Command and Control (NGC2) network. The Army’s 4th Infantry Division will be outfitted with our Wave Relay® MANET as the network foundation for NGC2, a critical modernization effort that transforms how soldiers fight and win. At Project Convergence – Capstone 5, our technology proved it could move massive amounts of data from cameras, sensors, and vehicles across an armored battalion on the move, enabling tanks and Bradleys to execute a complex combined arms breach with precision. NGC2 is about more than communications. It’s about empowering warfighters with interoperability, data fusion, and constant connectivity - giving leaders the ability to make lethal decisions in seconds, not minutes. We are proud to support the Army’s vision for the networked battlefield and to deliver the advanced commercial technology that will help shape the future of command and control.
