🫁 November is Lung Cancer Awareness Month In Australia, when the Health Minister asked what the next national screening program should be, Prof Dorothy Keefe, CEO of Cancer Australia replied that the country needed a lung cancer screening program as it disproportionately kills so many, particularly underserved communities. 💡 Evolving with agility using evidence. Australia's National Lung Cancer Screening Program was launched in July 2025 and has been designed to be agile - able to evolve as new data emerges. For now, it includes people with a history of smoking, but non-smokers and people who use e-cigarettes will need to be added in the future. 🤝 Collaborating for equity and improved outcomes. The program was co-designed with the community and the LDCT scan is free to people, whether they access care through public or private providers. Radiologists are required to enter data into the national lung cancer screening registry before they are remunerated, ensuring that we capture outcomes and maintain structured reporting. 🚐 Reaching those in need where they are. With a mobile component to reach distant and underserved populations, and community-negotiated routes supported by clear communications and step-by-step fact sheets, the Australian National Lung Cancer Screening Program is already reshaping how we think about equity, evidence, and access. #CancerAustralia #UNGA #UNGA80 #lungcancer #lungcancerscreening #lungcancerscreeningprogram #publichealth #healthequity #LungCancerConsensusStatement #BridgingtheGap #LungCancerAwarenessMonth
