    Why Email Marketing Is My #1 Focus – And Not Social Media 👇 This year, I set a big goal for my business: reach 10k newsletter subscribers. And here’s why email is the most valuable marketing channel for me: 1️⃣ Direct Access, No Algorithms Unlike social media, email goes straight to the inbox. I don’t have to worry if a platform’s algorithm will hide my message. 💬 2️⃣ More Value, Less Noise In my former company, we had too many newsletters, and I found out our customers started reading less. Honestly, most people hate newsletters, because they feel like noise. So, I decided to do things differently: Every email I send has to provide real value. If I don’t think it’s valuable, I don’t send it. My subscribers know they’re only getting quality over quantity, not just another scheduled update. 3️⃣ Building Trust  The email comes directly from my name, from my own inbox. People know it’s me, not a random marketing bot. And that builds a stronger connection. 🤝 4️⃣ Keeping it Unpredictable  Instead of weekly newsletters, I send them out every 6–8 weeks (or even longer). This way, each one is a bit of a surprise.     Business Development Tip: If you're trying to reach a decision-maker who’s constantly bombarded with messages, be strategic about your outreach. Think about where their attention is being pulled: - Phone calls - Emails - LinkedIn & Twitter DMs -Texts It’s overwhelming—most of those messages are ignored. So where should you focus? Their inbox. Email is still the most reliable way to get noticed. Research from HubSpot indicates that 80% of professionals prefer email for business communication. Cold DMs often go unread. According to a study by SuperOffice, the average response rate is 20-30%, while LinkedIn messages often hover around 10% or lower. Texts from unknown numbers are usually ignored. Want a response? Make it easy for them to engage. Keep it relevant, concise, and in the right place.

  • Too many wine & spirits companies are getting this wrong. No matter how large your social media following is, it can never convert like modern email marketing. Go ahead and build a large social media following. It's great for building brand awareness. But it sucks as a vehicle for revenue generation. By contrast, building a large email list and then using modern email marketing to build relationships at scale truly rings the cash register💰. "Winning" on social media is a hollow victory. It feeds the ego and creates the illusion of "success." Email marketing, however, expertly executed, can have a direct, measurable impact on your revenue. The key is to move beyond monthly newsletters and promo blasts and learn to engage with your customers directly in ways THEY want (not what you want). Don't just skim past the word "directly." Don't be fooled into thinking your social media audience belongs to you. Take Instagram, for example. Do you know who decides who'll see your content? If you said, "the algorithm," you've guessed correctly. But who decides who will see your content when you communicate directly via email? YOU. That's who. The wineries and distilleries that are winning with email marketing understand how to craft email campaigns that focus on the customer's needs/wants. And they can tell if it's working or not because everything is easy to measure: ☑️ Open rates ☑️ Click rates ☑️Conversion rates ☑️ Campaign performance💲 So forget about newsletters. Those are squarely focused on what you want your customers to know. It's the opposite of a "customer-first" focus. Instead, open your mind to the "modern" way to leverage email.
