If AI can generate code, suggest extensions, and optimize integrations… what will technical SAP consultants even do? "𝐏𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐜 𝐂𝐥𝐨𝐮𝐝 𝐝𝐨𝐞𝐬𝐧'𝐭 𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐰 𝐜𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐦 𝐙-𝐜𝐨𝐝𝐞!"  "𝐁𝐓𝐏 𝐠𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐥𝐨𝐰-𝐜𝐨𝐝𝐞 𝐭𝐨𝐨𝐥𝐬 𝐧𝐨𝐰!"  "𝐉𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐝 𝐞𝐱𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐩𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐬, 𝐂𝐃𝐒 𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰𝐬, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐀𝐏𝐈𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐬!" So what’s left for us? Are we out of the game? Have we coded ourselves out of relevance? 𝐋𝐞𝐭 𝐦𝐞 𝐛𝐞 𝐛𝐥𝐮𝐧𝐭 — 𝐍𝐎. But your ABAP days alone won’t save you. We’re stepping into a new era. An era where coders evolve into architects, integrators, and innovators. 𝐀 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐥 𝐓𝐚𝐥𝐤 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐃𝐞𝐯 𝐓𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐬: During a recent SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud implementation: We had no SE80. No Z-objects. The business needed dynamic pricing logic integrated with 3 external platforms. Standard APIs didn’t cut it. SAP’s Joule gave suggestions — but lacked context. Who solved it? ↳ A consultant who understood clean core principles ↳ Built side-by-side apps on BTP using CAP + CDS + Event Mesh ↳ Used AI to accelerate CDS view generation — not to skip thinking ↳ Designed extensibility using In-App Custom Fields, Key User Tools + Developer Extensibility. 𝐓𝐡𝐚𝐭’𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐍𝐄𝐖 𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐭. ✅ 𝐀𝐈-𝐀𝐮𝐠𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐂𝐨𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 → You know what to ask Joule, and how to validate its output → You don’t fear AI — you fine-tune it. ✅ 𝐂𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐧 𝐂𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐃𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧 → You build around SAP, not inside it → You balance In-App vs Side-by-Side extensibility smartly. ✅ 𝐁𝐓𝐏 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 → You speak CAP, RAP, Destination Services, Event-Driven Architecture → You deliver scalable apps with native integration to SAP S/4HANA. ✅ 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐄𝐧𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 → You don’t just hit POST/GET — you understand Authentication, Destinations, Communication Arrangements → You build secure, decoupled systems that scale ✅ 𝐋𝐢𝐟𝐞𝐜𝐲𝐜𝐥𝐞 𝐎𝐰𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 → You don’t just develop — you manage deployments (gCTS, CI/CD), monitor logs, analyze traces → You’re involved from design to go-live — and beyond. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐇𝐚𝐫𝐬𝐡 𝐓𝐫𝐮𝐭𝐡? If you’re only writing SELECT queries and FORM routines… The industry will move past you. But if you’re mastering architecture, understanding the why, and adapting with tools like BTP, AI, and Fiori… You’re indispensable. Bottom Line? 𝐓𝐞𝐜𝐡 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐬𝐧’𝐭 𝐝𝐲𝐢𝐧𝐠. 𝐈𝐭’𝐬 𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠. 𝐀𝐈 𝐢𝐬 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐞𝐧𝐝 𝐨𝐟 𝐜𝐨𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠. 𝐈𝐭’𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐟 𝐛𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐜𝐨𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠. Reboot your stack. Upgrade your mindset. What does the future technical consultant look like to you? 𝐃𝐫𝐨𝐩 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐝𝐨 𝐘𝐎𝐔 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐤 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐫𝐨𝐥𝐞 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐛𝐞 — 𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐭-𝐀𝐈, 𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐭-𝐙 𝐞𝐫𝐚? Wouter van Heddeghem Avnikant Singh 🇮🇳 *** Learn RAP : https://lnkd.in/gmc9HR2t

The future of SAP ABAP SAP S/4HANA Migration: As SAP continues to promote its next-generation ERP system, SAP S/4HANA, ABAP developers will play a crucial role in migrating and adapting existing ABAP-based solutions to this platform. SAP has introduced various tools and capabilities to facilitate this transition. SAP Fiori and User Experience: The SAP Fiori user interface is gaining prominence for its modern and intuitive design. ABAP developers will need to create and enhance Fiori apps, which involves a shift towards developing responsive, user-friendly applications. Integration with SAP Cloud Solutions: SAP is expanding its cloud portfolio, including SAP Cloud Platform. ABAP developers may need to integrate on-premises ABAP systems with cloud solutions, requiring knowledge of cloud development, microservices, and APIs. ABAP on SAP HANA: ABAP on SAP HANA (AoS) leverages the power of the HANA database for optimized performance. Developers should become proficient in Code Pushdown techniques, AMDP (ABAP Managed Database Procedures), and CDS (Core Data Services) to maximize the benefits of SAP HANA. Open Source Technologies: SAP is embracing open-source technologies and languages like Python and JavaScript. ABAP developers may find it beneficial to have knowledge of these languages to extend the functionality of SAP applications. DevOps and Agile Development: Agile methodologies and DevOps practices are becoming more prevalent in SAP projects. ABAP developers need to adapt to these faster development and deployment cycles. Machine Learning and AI: SAP is incorporating machine learning and artificial intelligence into its solutions. ABAP developers can contribute by creating custom machine learning models or integrating third-party AI solutions. Low-Code/No-Code: The trend towards low-code/no-code platforms allows business users to build applications with minimal coding. ABAP developers can focus on building more complex functionalities while enabling business users to create simpler applications. Customization vs. Standardization: SAP is promoting a move towards standardization to simplify system landscapes. ABAP developers may find themselves working on customizations that provide unique business value while adhering to standardized processes. Skill Diversification: To stay relevant, ABAP developers should consider diversifying their skill set. Learning related technologies like SAPUI5, SAP Cloud Platform, SAP Integration Suite, and data analytics can be valuable. In summary, the future of SAP ABAP is a blend of modernization, integration, and adaptability. ABAP developers who embrace these changes, continually update their skills, and align with evolving business needs will remain valuable assets in the SAP ecosystem.
