It’s been said many ways. Can you spot the common theme? “Be humble. Stay hungry. Always hustle.” 🎙️ Brad Lomenick, leadership consultant and speaker. “Be humble. Be hungry. And always be the hardest worker in the room.” 🪨 Dwayne Johnson, actor and businessman. “Stay hungry, remain humble, and get better today.” 🏈 Pete Carroll, former head coach and executive VP of Seattle Seahawks. “The kind of people that all teams need are people who are humble, hungry, and smart.” 📚Patrick Lencioni, author. “Be humble, but stay hungry.” 📺 Steve Harvey, comedian, TV host, and author. “Stay hungry, stay humble.” 💻 Bill McDermott, chairman and CEO at ServiceNow. Be hungry and humble - the advice spans industries, disciplines, and generations. It means working hard (that’s the hungry part)... ...but not becoming enamored of your own effort (humility). It means admitting you don’t know everything (that’s the humble part)... ...but using that as a drive to learn more (staying hungry). How do you do it? Here are a few tips: 1. Build a Tribe of Mentors: 🏗 Surround yourself with people you respect, who know more than you, and who make you a better person. This will keep you humble and make you hungry for self-improvement. 2. Never Stop Learning. 🎓 Learning should be a lifelong process. It can be humbling to try and fail to master a new subject or skill. However, the process is also motivating as you see regular, incremental improvement that adds up over time. 3. Stay Curious: 📚 Related to the above, cultivate a mindset of intellectual curiosity. Explore new trends, technologies, and methodologies in your industry. Knowing how much you don’t know will keep you humble and hungry to learn more. 4. Set Team Goals and Celebrate Team Success: 🙌 Set goals as a group and recognize your team’s achievements rather than focusing solely on your own. 5. Never Forget Where You Came From: 🏡 Reflect on your journey and the people who helped you along the way. This keeps you both grounded and motivated to continue to press forward. 6. Admit and Learn From Mistakes: 🤦♂️ Acknowledge your errors—they’ll keep you humble. But also learn from them, and let that create a hunger to try again and do better. 7. Serve Others: 🤝 Engage in mentoring, volunteering, and other acts of service. Helping others fosters humility and the drive to give back some of what you have been given. Stay hungry and humble - it’s part of winning the right way. **** In this series, “Win the Right Way,” I discuss applied business ethics for achieving lasting impact. Are you the light at work? . . . I started the week off by addressing the cloud of negativity at work. All week I provided tips on how to deal with negative people, bullies, unethical requests and how to handle your mistakes in a positive way. Today, I want to show you how that positivity culminates with you being the light others need. All of our work can sometimes feel like a grind, but it doesn't have to be that way! You have the power to be a beacon of positivity and inspiration in your workplace. These steps are what has helped me grow as a leader and I know they will help you as well.   Lead with Enthusiasm. I love what I do! I get excited about the ever-changing opportunities I have to work with leaders who want to get better. You should get excited about what you do too. If you approach your work with enthusiasm and a positive attitude, your energy will be contagious and uplift your colleagues. They say enthusiasm breeds enthusiasm.   Offer Support. One of the greatest things I learned was to be a helping hand and a listening ear. For you, offering your assistance when someone is struggling and providing emotional support when needed will show them you care.   Celebrate Achievements. Everyone loves the “atta-boy.” If you win an award, give credit to your team. They will embrace it! Always recognize and celebrate both big and small achievements that they experience, even if they are not work related. Your willingness to acknowledge them will foster a culture of appreciation that will have a ripple effect that can’t be denied.   Practice Empathy. I started out with nothing, so I can understand and can relate to the challenges team members face. Being empathetic towards someone can make a world of difference in their day. They will respect you for it.   Lead by Example. I cannot say this one enough. Too many times leaders say, “do what I say, not what I do.” That my friends is not leadership, it’s a dictatorship. By doing what you say you are going to do and living a positive life, one of professionalism, ethics, strong morals and values, your actions can and will inspire others to do the same.   Being a light at work doesn't mean ignoring challenges but rather facing them with a positive and solution-oriented mindset. Together, we can create a workplace that radiates with positivity and success! Go make a difference in someone’s life today! - - - - - - #AuthenticLeadership #generosity #higherauthority - - - - - - 🔔🔔 Follow Me for common sense advice on #AuthenticLeadership    and life. Here are some effective motivational techniques I have found that foster a positive and productive workplace environment: Ask for Employee Input: Regularly survey employees for their satisfaction and ask for suggestions on improving working conditions. Taking action on feedback shows that you value their opinions and are committed to their happiness at work. Offer Personal Enrichment Programs: Encourage professional development by offering tuition reimbursement or opportunities to attend workshops and seminars. This not only motivates employees but also prepares them for internal promotions. Validate Good Work: Recognize and validate the efforts of your team members. A personal thank you note or a verbal acknowledgment can go a long way in showing appreciation for their hard work. Set Intermittent Goals: Break down larger objectives into smaller, achievable goals. This helps maintain momentum and gives employees a sense of accomplishment as they progress. Celebrate Milestones and Achievements: Take the time to celebrate both individual and team achievements. This can create a sense of community and shared success. Radiate Positivity: As a leader, your attitude can set the tone for the entire team. A positive outlook can be infectious and motivate others to adopt the same mindset. Create a Mentorship Program: Pairing less experienced employees with mentors can provide them with valuable guidance and a clearer path to career development. Create a Comfortable and Inspiring Workspace: The physical environment can have a significant impact on motivation. Ensure that the workspace is comfortable and stimulating to promote productivity. I found that implementing these techniques can help create an environment where employees feel motivated to grow and succeed in their roles. Remember, the key is to find what works best for your team and to be consistent in your efforts

My journey from the football field to the business world has been one heck of a ride, and there's one thing I've carried with me every step of the way: a growth mindset. It's what set me apart on my journey through the NFL and what keeps me moving forward in business. This mindset isn't about having some secret formula; it's about facing every challenge head-on with a belief that I can overcome it, always ready to learn and get better. Here's the real deal about why a growth mindset really matters: - Challenges? Bring 'em on: Facing adversity head on both on the field and in the board room is crucial. Seeing challenges as opportunities has been my secret sauce. - Keep on keeping on: From grueling practice sessions to late nights crunching numbers, it's all about sticking with it, even when the going gets tough. Remember your WHY. - Stay positive: No matter how tough things got, staying positive made all the difference. It's about seeing the glass half full, even when everyone else is convinced it's half empty. Be the same person every day. Show up and do the work. - Focus and grind CONSISTENTLY: Every day, it's about setting your sights on your goals and not stopping until you get there. Determination and consistency are key. And let's talk about growing this mindset, because let's face it, it's something you can absolutely develop: 1. Be aware of your mindset: Catch yourself when you start doubting and flip the script. Self talk and positive reinforcement no matter what obstacle you are facing. 2. Love the process: Embrace the grind. Enjoying the journey, not just the destination, makes all the difference. 3. Feedback is your friend: Instead of shying away from advice, soak it up. It's all about getting better, one step at a time. 4. Find your team: Surround yourself with folks who lift you up and push you to be your best. You are the average of the 5 people you spend the most time with. Zig Ziglar said it best: "What you get by achieving your goals is not as important as what you become by achieving your goals." This journey has shaped me, taught me, and pushed me to grow in ways I never imagined. So here's my shoutout to everyone on their own journey: Embrace that growth mindset. Believe in your ability to learn and improve. Because when you do, there's no limit to what you can achieve. Let's keep growing, learning, and smashing those goals. #GrowthMindset #KeepPushing #AlwaysLearning #Success #Mindset
