By focusing on both planning and mental preparation, anyone can develop a mindset that thrives on challenges and drives continuous improvement.

  • Adopt a growth mindset: Embrace challenges as opportunities to learn and improve instead of fearing failure, and believe that skills can be developed over time with effort and perseverance.
  • Prioritize mental preparation: Take time to reflect, set intentions, and replace self-limiting beliefs with empowering thoughts to build confidence and focus on your goals.
  • Shift your perspective: Reframe negative thoughts into growth opportunities by practicing gratitude, focusing on progress, and celebrating even small achievements.

Your actions determine whether or not you reach your goals... but focusing ONLY on taking obvious actions is not the highest leverage strategy. Two layers of preparation lead to higher rates of success. The surface layer of preparation is basic and obvious. For example: Setting your alarm and your running clothes out the night before Meal prepping Rehearsing your presentation But a deeper layer of preparation is less obvious and more powerful. It's preparation for your brain. For example, if you have a presentation coming up, how about: Journaling about the presentation Setting an intention for your presentation Naming what you will believe about yourself as you execute your actions Before: Creating your presentation Rehearsing your presentation Delivering the presentation This deeper layer of preparation is easy to do, which means it's also easy to skip. But these mindset steps will exponentially elevate your leadership. Personally, I shift in and out of doing my mental prep. I'm only human. But when I do the prep, the outcome is always, always, ALWAYS better. I challenge you to pick one goal you have for this week and do this deeper layer of prep. STEP 1: Journal about it for two minutes. Freewrite anything that comes to mind. Clear your mind. STEP 2: Set an intention for one minute. What do you intend for this process? How do you want to show up? STEP 3: Finally, pick one sentence to believe about yourself as you execute your process. It could be as simple as "I am focused." What do you think? How do you prep your brain to meet your goals? #successmindset #selfawareness #intentionalaction

Most leaders are wonderful human-beings. They are loving and caring leaders that want what's best for their employees. Most leaders I work with inspire me to be a better man, husband, father and leader. At the same time, nearly every leader has bouts of self-doubt. This is part of our human condition. In fact, many leaders I work with attribute their success to their Hyper-Achiever tendencies. Here is how we try to work to stay in an achievement mindset while being kind to ourselves in the process. We focus on accepting that we are constantly growing and learning, and every experience, whether perceived as success or failure, is an opportunity for growth and improvement. In Positive Intelligence (PQ) language, this is a Sage perspective. This Sage perspective shifts our perspective from a judgmental and self-critical mindset to one of continuous growth and empowerment. By embracing the idea that every experience, regardless of its outcome, contributes to our personal and professional development, we can cultivate resilience, self-confidence, and a positive outlook on life. Here's how we can reinforce this belief: Practice Self-Compassion: Instead of being overly critical of ourselves, let's practice self-compassion and kindness. Treat ourselves with the same understanding and support that we would offer to a friend facing a similar situation. Focus on Progress, Not Perfection: Shift our focus from perfectionism to progress. Celebrate our achievements and the progress we've made, no matter how small. Recognize that setbacks and challenges are natural parts of the learning process. We like to teach that the pursuit of perfection is noble and the expectation of perfection is insane. Learn from Every Experience: Approach every experience as an opportunity to learn and grow. Reflect on both our successes and failures, extracting valuable lessons and insights that can inform our future actions and decisions. Challenge Negative Self-Talk: When we catch ourselves engaging in negative self-talk or self-doubt, challenge those thoughts with evidence of our past successes and our potential for growth. Replace self-limiting beliefs with empowering affirmations that reinforce our ability to overcome challenges. We like to teach....Spot, Stop, Swap or Recognize, Rest, Rewire. Cultivate a Growth Mindset: Adopt a growth mindset, believing that our abilities and intelligence can be developed through dedication and effort. Embrace challenges as opportunities to stretch our skills and expand our capabilities. Seek Support and Feedback: Surround ourselves with mentors, coaches, or trusted friends who can offer guidance, perspective, and encouragement along our journey. A great mantra/affirmation might be, "I am constantly growing and learning, and every experience, whether perceived as success or failure, is an opportunity for growth and improvement." How does your Hyper-Achiever help/hurt you?

My journey from the football field to the business world has been one heck of a ride, and there's one thing I've carried with me every step of the way: a growth mindset. It's what set me apart on my journey through the NFL and what keeps me moving forward in business. This mindset isn't about having some secret formula; it's about facing every challenge head-on with a belief that I can overcome it, always ready to learn and get better. Here's the real deal about why a growth mindset really matters: - Challenges? Bring 'em on: Facing adversity head on both on the field and in the board room is crucial. Seeing challenges as opportunities has been my secret sauce. - Keep on keeping on: From grueling practice sessions to late nights crunching numbers, it's all about sticking with it, even when the going gets tough. Remember your WHY. - Stay positive: No matter how tough things got, staying positive made all the difference. It's about seeing the glass half full, even when everyone else is convinced it's half empty. Be the same person every day. Show up and do the work. - Focus and grind CONSISTENTLY: Every day, it's about setting your sights on your goals and not stopping until you get there. Determination and consistency are key. And let's talk about growing this mindset, because let's face it, it's something you can absolutely develop: 1. Be aware of your mindset: Catch yourself when you start doubting and flip the script. Self talk and positive reinforcement no matter what obstacle you are facing. 2. Love the process: Embrace the grind. Enjoying the journey, not just the destination, makes all the difference. 3. Feedback is your friend: Instead of shying away from advice, soak it up. It's all about getting better, one step at a time. 4. Find your team: Surround yourself with folks who lift you up and push you to be your best. You are the average of the 5 people you spend the most time with. Zig Ziglar said it best: "What you get by achieving your goals is not as important as what you become by achieving your goals." This journey has shaped me, taught me, and pushed me to grow in ways I never imagined. So here's my shoutout to everyone on their own journey: Embrace that growth mindset. Believe in your ability to learn and improve. Because when you do, there's no limit to what you can achieve. Let's keep growing, learning, and smashing those goals. #GrowthMindset #KeepPushing #AlwaysLearning #Success #Mindset

You run the company, but your mindset runs you. Every founder hits walls. What separates the ones who grow is how they think when it gets hard. These 10 mindset shifts won’t just make you feel better, they’ll make you lead better. 1/ “I have to do this” → “I get to do this.” Turns pressure into energy. Reminds you why you started. 2/ “What if I fail?” → “What could I learn?” Shifts fear into curiosity. You don’t grow by playing it safe. 3/ “They’re ahead of me” → “I’m on my own path.” Comparison slows you down. Progress speeds you up. 4/ “I need to be right” → “I want to understand.” You don’t build trust by winning. You build it by listening. 5/ “Everything must go as planned” → “Let’s adapt.” Rigidity breaks. Flexibility scales. 6/ “I can’t do this” → “I haven’t learned it yet.” Skills can be built. Capability isn’t fixed. 7/ “This is happening to me” → “It’s happening for me.” Reframes chaos as training. You’re being shaped, not stalled. 8/ “I’m not ready” → “Let’s start small.” Waiting costs more than trying. You’ll learn faster by moving. 9/ “I failed” → “I’m still learning.” Every founder eats dirt. Smart ones get back up cleaner. 10/ “They don’t like me” → “They don’t know me yet.” Leads with connection, not insecurity. Relationships take reps. Save this. When the next rough week hits, read it again. Mindset is a system. Follow me Kinza Azmat for more! Subscribe to the newsletter for more founder mindset tips. https://lnkd.in/g-vUSu-2

Your state of mind has more impact on your outcomes than anything else. Imagine if the walls closing in on your ambitions were actually built by your own thoughts. Erwin Raphael McManus in his insightful book "Mind Shift" sheds light on a powerful idea: If my mind can be structured for failure, then it can also be structured for success. This isn't just motivational mumbo-jumbo... it's a reality check. The structures of our minds aren't fixed. They are as changeable as clay. We are the sculptors. Every thought we entertain is shaping this sculpture. So, why not use this malleability to our advantage? By consciously choosing optimism and resilience over pessimism and defeat, we can reshape our mental framework to not only anticipate success but drive it. This is true in every aspect of your life. For example, in business, a study conducted by the University of California found that employees with a positive mindset were 31% more productive and 37% better at sales than their less positive counterparts. And, in health, the University College London concluded that happy, positive people are 35% less likely to die over a five-year period compared to their less happy counterparts. What you think impacts what you become. How do we start? 1. Begin with small, daily affirmations. ↳ True story. I sold books door-to-door in college and the only thing that got me through thousands of rejections while being pummeled by the sun and mosquitos was a habit of daily affirmations. 2. Reflect on your successes. ↳ No matter how minor, a win is a win. If you fail to celebrate each, the losses will feel larger. Start here. Two simple thoughts. Over time, these practices will cement a foundation of confidence. Remember, the architecture of your success is designed in the mind. So, lay your bricks. Let's rethink our limits. What's one thought pattern you're committed to changing? Share your thoughts below!
