I’ve reviewed 1,000+ LinkedIn profiles over the past 5 years. Here are 8 tips to turn your LinkedIn profile into a job-generating machine: 1. Upgrade Your Profile Picture Like it or not, your profile picture is your first impression. Make it a good one: - Upload your PP to Photofeeler .com - Analyze the feedback - Reshoot/edit your picture based on the data Repeat until your scores are good! 2. Leverage Keywords The right keywords help you show up in more searches. Here's how to find them: - Find 5+ job descriptions for target roles - Paste them all into ResyMatch.io's JD scanner - Save the top 15 skills Weave them into the rest of your profile! 3. Write A Killer Headline I like to use this headline formula: [Keywords] | [Skills] | [Results-Focused Value Proposition] Example for a data scientist: Data Scientist | Python, R, Tableau | I Help Hospitals Use Big Data To Reduce Readmission Rates By 37% 4. Write A Killer About A great About section has 3 parts: - A short paragraph that speaks to your job, years of experience, and value prop. - Five "case study" bullets that showcase specific results. - Your email w/ a CTA for people to connect with you. Include keywords! 5. Leverage Your Featured Section It’s hard to convey your value on a resume or in an About section. This is your chance to show people what you’ve done on your terms. Include things like: - Case studies of your work - Content you’ve created - Posts you’ve written 6. Skills Matter LinkedIn uses profile Skills sections to rank candidates. Here’s how to boost your rank: - Add every keyword from your ResyMatch scan - Choose the top 5 most relevant skills - Ask colleagues, friends, family, & classmates for endorsements (aim for 5) 7. Engage & Support Others Comments can generate tons of profile views! Here’s how: - Find 10+ thought leaders in your target space - Bookmark their post feed - Check their feeds daily - Leave a supportive, valuable comment on each new post Repeat for a minimum of 30 days 8. Create Content! Content is networking at scale. One post can reach more people than your entire connection base. It also allows you to showcase value in your own words, on your own terms. It can feel scary, but only 1% of people do it—and the returns are huge.

I constantly get recruiter reachouts from big tech companies and top AI startups- even when I’m not actively job hunting or listed as “Open to Work.” That’s because over the years, I’ve consciously put in the effort to build a clear and consistent presence on LinkedIn- one that reflects what I do, what I care about, and the kind of work I want to be known for. And the best part? It’s something anyone can do- with the right strategy and a bit of consistency. If you’re tired of applying to dozens of jobs with no reply, here are 5 powerful LinkedIn upgrades that will make recruiters come to you: 1. Quietly activate “Open to Work” Even if you’re not searching, turning this on boosts your visibility in recruiter filters. → Turn it on under your profile → “Open to” → “Finding a new job” → Choose “Recruiters only” visibility → Specify target titles and locations clearly (e.g., “Machine Learning Engineer – Computer Vision, Remote”) Why it works: Recruiters rely on this filter to find passive yet qualified candidates. 2. Treat your headline like SEO + your elevator pitch Your headline is key real estate- use it to clearly communicate role, expertise, and value. Weak example: “Software Developer at XYZ Company” → Generic and not searchable. Strong example: “ML Engineer | Computer Vision for Autonomous Systems | PyTorch, TensorRT Specialist” → Role: ML Engineer → Niche: computer vision in autonomous systems → Tools: PyTorch, TensorRT This structure reflects best practices from experts who recommend combining role, specialization, technical skills, and context to stand out. 3. Upgrade your visuals to build trust → Use a crisp headshot: natural light, simple background, friendly expression → Add a banner that reinforces your brand: you working, speaking, or a tagline with tools/logos Why it works: Clean visuals increase profile views and instantly project credibility. 4. Rewrite your “About” section as a human story Skip the bullet list, tell a narrative in three parts: → Intro: “I’m an ML engineer specializing in computer vision models for autonomous systems.” → Expertise: “I build end‑to‑end pipelines using PyTorch and TensorRT, optimizing real‑time inference for edge deployment.” → Motivation: “I’m passionate about enabling safer autonomy through efficient vision AI, let’s connect if you’re building in that space.” Why it works: Authentic storytelling creates memorability and emotional resonance . 5. Be the advocate for your work Make your profile act like a portfolio, not just a resume. → Under each role, add 2–4 bullet points with measurable outcomes and tools (e.g., “Reduced inference latency by 35% using INT8 quantization in TensorRT”) → In the Featured section, highlight demos, whitepapers, GitHub repos, or tech talks Give yourself five intentional profile upgrades this week. Then sit back and watch recruiters start reaching you, even in today’s competitive market.

You're making yourself invisible to recruiters. My client just got 2 recruiters reaching out within 24 hours of fixing their LinkedIn profile. Same skills, same experience - just stopped doing what 90% of data professionals do wrong. The truth is: You're competing against thousands of other "Python/SQL/Tableau" profiles that all look identical. Your technical skills aren't the problem - your positioning is. I've placed 50+ data professionals in the last 3 years, had 700+ calls with them, and the pattern is always the same: smart people making themselves invisible because they think being technical is enough. 𝗜𝘁'𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁. Here's what separates those who get contacted from those who get ignored: 𝟭. 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗱𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗡𝗢𝗧𝗛𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘆𝗼𝘂 Stop this: "Data Scientist | Python, SQL, Tableau" Start this: "Data Scientist | Helped hospitals reduce readmission rates by 37% using predictive analytics | Python • SQL • Tableau" See the difference? One shows what you know, the other shows what you accomplish. 𝟮. 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 "𝗔𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁" 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘀 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝗮 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘂𝗺𝗲 Recruiters spend 7.4 seconds scanning your profile. Your opening line either hooks them or they're gone. Try this formula: • Bold opener: "I help fintech startups turn messy data into revenue" • Proof with numbers: "Built classification model that reduced customer churn by 15%, saving $230K annually" • Call to action: "Let's discuss how data can solve your biggest challenges" 𝟯. 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗹𝗶𝘀𝘁𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀, 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘀 Instead of: "Responsible for data analysis and dashboard creation" Write: "Designed automated dashboard used by 5 departments, reducing manual reporting from 5 hours to 30 minutes weekly." Every bullet point should make them think: "We need someone who can do THAT." 93% of recruiters use LinkedIn to find technical talent. If you're not showing up in their searches, you might as well not exist. 𝟮 𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀 𝗳𝗶𝘅𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴. Stop hoping someone will notice your technical skills and start making it impossible for them to ignore your impact. 𝘍𝘰𝘭𝘭𝘰𝘸 𝘮𝘦 Jaret André 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘨𝘪𝘦𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘶𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘨𝘦𝘵 𝘥𝘢𝘵𝘢 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘧𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘭𝘴 𝘩𝘪𝘳𝘦𝘥. Most job seekers treat LinkedIn like a resume. The ones who get hired treat it like a search engine. If you want to stand out to hiring managers and recruiters, here’s what actually matters. 1️⃣ Use keywords that hiring teams are searching for. Your headline and About section should be packed with clear, searchable terms related to your target roles. Think: → Product Manager | SaaS | Customer-Centered Design → Software Engineer | Cloud Infrastructure | Python and AWS This is how recruiters find you. If your profile is missing the right words, you stay invisible. 2️⃣ Tell your story with clarity, not buzzwords. The About section isn’t a list of adjectives. It’s a chance to show what you do, who you help, and the results you create. Specifics stand out. Vague summaries get skipped. Fill your profile with proof, not responsibilities. Instead of "managed a project," say > "Led a $5M system upgrade that cut costs by 22 percent." Stay active and visible. 3️⃣ Comment. Post. Engage. Five minutes a day keeps your network alive and your profile ranking higher in searches. Becoming visible will set you apart from the rest of candidates and the best way to do it is by staying active. Your resume gets you past the ATS. Your LinkedIn gets you in front of decision-makers. Treat it like the opportunity it is.

Feeling Invisible on LinkedIn? Let’s Fix That. Job seekers often feel like LinkedIn is a crowded room where no one notices their efforts. If that sounds like you, it's time to step into the spotlight. Here’s how you can make LinkedIn work for you, especially if you’re actively looking for new opportunities: 1️⃣ 𝗢𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗶𝘇𝗲 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗶𝗹𝗲 Make sure your LinkedIn headline speaks to what you offer, not just your job title. For example: “Facilities & Operations Leader | US Veteran | Security | Strategy | Team Leadership — Driving operational excellence with a mission-first mindset across people & processes” Your summary should showcase what sets you apart, not just a history of past roles. Focus on value. 2️⃣ 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝘂𝗹𝗮𝗿𝗹𝘆 Visibility doesn’t happen by just updating your profile once a year. Comment on industry posts, share articles, and start meaningful conversations.  Thoughtful engagement increases your visibility and shows recruiters you’re active in your field. 3️⃣ 𝗟𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗖𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 Post regularly about industry trends, your career insights, or even lessons learned. Position yourself as a thought leader by sharing your perspective. This will attract recruiters and hiring managers who want to hear from professionals with your expertise. 4️⃣ 𝗚𝗲𝘁 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 A glowing recommendation is like a personal endorsement.  Reach out to colleagues, clients, or former employers to write you a recommendation that showcases your value and accomplishments. 5️⃣ 𝗨𝘀𝗲 𝗞𝗲𝘆𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗱𝘀 𝗘𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗹𝘆 LinkedIn’s search function is powerful.  Think about what your ideal job description looks like and include those terms in your summary and experience sections. 6️⃣ 𝗚𝗲𝘁 𝗜𝗻𝘃𝗼𝗹𝘃𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻 𝗟𝗶𝗻𝗸𝗲𝗱𝗜𝗻 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗽𝘀 Join industry-specific groups and actively participate. These niche spaces often allow you to connect directly with decision-makers and fellow professionals who can offer advice or opportunities. 🚀 Visibility isn’t about self-promotion; it’s about showing the value you bring to the table. How do you get recruiters to contact you? 1) Optimize your LinkedIn profile and 2) Make it easy for them to contact you ...  Recruiters use LinkedIn like we use Google. That is, they search using keywords. Here are the top keywords they search for... 1) Job title 2) Location 3) Skills. So you want your LinkedIn profile to reflect these keywords. 1) List your ideal job title in your Headline. (I wrote an article about how to write your LI Headline, link in comments.) 2) List the location(s) where you're willing to work in your "Open to Work" profile setting. You can list up to five locations. 3) Incorporate the top skills for your ideal job all over your profile. These are your keywords and you want them in your Headline, About section, and especially the Skills section. I wrote an article about how to maximize your Skills, link in comments. 4) Make sure every section of your profile is complete and publicly visible, too. Go to your Settings, click on "Visibility," then "Edit your public profile." Now you see what recruiters see - is your photo visible? Are all the sections turned on and visible? 5) Make it EASY for them to contact you. Recruiters get a limited number of InMail messages each month, so they have to be selective about whom they contact. Make it easier by including your email address in the About section of your LinkedIn profile. BUT, don't list your personal email - create an email specifically for your job search and post that on your profile. I like [your name][ideal job title]@gmail.com. For example, EmilyCareerCoach@gmail.com, or JaneSmithHR@gmail.com. 6) Be active on LinkedIn. LI prioritizes active profiles. That means you have recently updated your profile, you're logging on to the site regularly, you are leaving comments (aim for 10 comments/day), and you are writing posts and/or articles. If a recruiter does contact you, I have a few more tips ... 1) Check the LinkedIn profile of the recruiter, the reputation of the recruiting firm, and the company they are recruiting for - does it look legit? Sometimes scammers will pose as recruiters from real agencies too - please note, a real recruiter would never ask you for personal information like your birthday, SSN, or bank account. 2) Reply quickly. Recruiters are juggling dozens of roles and contacting hundreds of people at once.  The recruiter is on a timeline so they’re lining up job candidates and screening them, and will move on if you don’t reply. 3) Keep your expectations low - Some recruiters contact hundreds of people in a day. They simply don’t have time to respond to every message, and you often won’t hear back from them. It isn’t personal … they’re just juggling too many things at once. I'm rooting for you. 👊 ♻ Please repost if you think this advice will help others. ***** Hi, have we met? I'm Emily and I'm on a mission to get the #greenbannergang back to work, one actionable step at a time. #jobsearch #jobhunt #jobseekers #LinkedIn

2018: “Send me your resume." → 2024: “Send me your LinkedIn profile.” → 2025: “I found you on LinkedIn.” I spoke to several recruiters last week, and they aren’t just waiting for applications anymore. They’re proactively searching, shortlisting, and reaching out to candidates who already stand out. 94% of recruiters use LinkedIn to hire, research, and validate candidates. If you’re still treating your LinkedIn like an afterthought, you’re missing out. Here’s how to stay ahead in 2025: → Build your personal brand. In 2024, recruiters just checked your profile, especially the qualifications.  In 2025, they’re checking your content. Sharing insights, projects, and industry trends can make you a go-to expert. → Show, don’t just tell. A resume lists your job titles.  A LinkedIn profile should showcase your impact. Instead of “Software Engineer at X,” highlight what problems you solved and what results you drove. → Optimize for recruiter searches. The right keywords = more inbound opportunities. Use industry-specific terms in your headline, experience, and skills to show up in searches. → Expand your network the right way. Don’t just send connection requests. Engage with hiring managers and industry leaders. Comment on their posts, ask thoughtful questions, and get noticed before you even apply. → Make your profile recruiter-friendly. The best candidates make it easy for recruiters.  Have a clear headline, a strong ‘About’ section, and your DMs open for opportunities. 2025 isn’t about applying. It’s about being found. Are you making it easy for recruiters to find you? Or are you still waiting for job postings to appear? P.S. Follow me if you are an Indian job seeker in the U.S.  I talk about job search, interview prep, and salary negotiaiton.

5 Simple Steps to Land Your Dream Job Using LinkedIn: (This strategy got me multiple FAANG Interviews) Building my LinkedIn profile was the best decision of my life. After building my LinkedIn presence to 100,000+ followers and helping 1000’s of students, I've seen what actually works for job seekers. Here's my straightforward 5-step system to landing your next job: Step 1: Optimize Your Profile Like a Landing Page What to do: Treat your LinkedIn profile as your personal website. How to do it: -- Write a headline that shows your value, not just your title: "Sales Manager who increased revenue by 40%" vs "Sales Manager" -- Add a professional headshot (profiles with photos get 21x more views) -- Include 3-5 relevant skills in your summary with specific examples -- Turn on "Open to Work" so recruiters can see it Time needed: 2 hours, one-time setup Step 2: Network and Engage with Potential Employers What to do: Become visible to the companies you want to work for. How to do it: -- Follow employees from 10-15 target companies -- Connect with 30-50 employees each week with personalized messages -- Find my Networking template here: https://bit.ly/3ZTs5Ob -- Follow-up and ask for referrals to boost your job applications Time needed: 15 minutes daily Step 3: Create Content That Shows Your Expertise What to do: Post valuable content to demonstrate your knowledge. How to do it: -- Share one industry insight or lesson learned each week -- Use this format: Problem + Your Solution + Result/Takeaway -- Post on Tuesday-Thursday between 8-10 AM for maximum reach Time needed: 30 minutes weekly Step 4: The Strategic Outreach Method What to do: Connect with hiring managers and recruiters the right way. How to do it: -- After applying for a job, find the hiring manager on LinkedIn -- Send a connection request: "Hi [Name], I just applied for the [Role] position and would love to connect. I'm particularly excited about [specific company initiative]." -- Wait 2-3 days after they accept, then send a follow-up message -- Share why you're genuinely interested in their company (mention recent news, values, or projects) Time needed: 10 minutes per application Step 5: Track Your Progress and Double Down What to do: Monitor what's working and do more of it. How to do it: -- Check LinkedIn analytics weekly (who's viewing your profile?) -- Note which posts get the most engagement from your target audience -- Keep a simple spreadsheet: Company, Contact, Date Reached Out, Response -- Send a weekly update to your network about your job search progress Time needed: 15 minutes weekly BONUS: Optimize your LinkedIn profile with Wisedoc’s AI Tool Link: https://bit.ly/4jysnBj Remember: Consistency beats perfection. Start with Step 1 today, add one step slowly and steadily. I assure you, the results will soon follow. I hope this helps, All the best in your job search! The shortcut to massive visibility with recruiters on LinkedIn (+ 2X more interview invites) isn't: 1. Applying to hundreds of jobs 2. Treating LinkedIn like a job board 3. Making your profile a resume placeholder It's strategic LinkedIn engagement. I've been helping job seekers get job offers via LinkedIn for 15+ years. These are the 3 unexpected ways daily LinkedIn engagement has transformed my clients' job searches: 1. 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐧 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐲 𝐏𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐬 Strategic engagement on LinkedIn allows you to: - Get noticed by recruiters without applying - Show your subject matter expertise - Build relationships with decision makers & industry thought leaders - Increase profile views by 4X - Land interviews through conversations, not applications There is no better tool to showcase your expertise to hiring managers. 2. 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐲 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐉𝐨𝐛 𝐎𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐬 Everyone talks about EasyApply no one talks about company connections. Yet, LinkedIn members with company connections are 4X more likely to get the job offer. 70% of LinkedIn members report they found their last job through a connection. And, we know in 2024 that 48% of all new hires were employee referrals. The data points to the wildly effective strategy of making connections/building relationships with people inside your target company. LinkedIn makes this very easy to do. Go to the company's LinkedIn page. See who you know, who you're already connected to, or who is a possible warm connection you can make. 3. 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐂𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 I understand being hesitant to post on LinkedIn. Many of my clients were terrified of sharing content. But when you share valuable insights, you practice: - Your thought leadership - Your industry expertise - Your professional voice The more you share, the more visibility you get. Members who share content get 4X more profile views than those who only scroll. People hire those they know, like, and trust. When you post you build credibility and trust. Your connections, decision makers, hiring managers, recruiters - they all get to know you better. That's it! Want to learn the exact profile changes that generated an 8500% increase in profile views and interviews within 24 hours? Check the comments for a link to a free video I created with my top 5 hacks for getting more profile views and interview invitations. Most job seekers treat LinkedIn like a digital résumé. That’s why they struggle to stand out. Recruiters don’t just search for résumés. They look for professionals who actively show up. Here’s how to make LinkedIn work for you: 1️⃣ Optimize Your Profile ↳ Use a clear, professional headline that reflects your expertise. ↳ Write a compelling “About” section that tells your career story. ↳ Include keywords that match your target roles. 2️⃣ Create & Engage With Content ↳ Comment thoughtfully on industry posts to get noticed. ↳ Share insights, career lessons, or industry trends once a week. ↳ Support others—engagement builds relationships. 3️⃣ Network With Intention ↳ Connect with hiring managers and recruiters in your industry. ↳ Send personalized connection requests. ↳ Follow up with value—not just “I’m looking for a job.” 4️⃣ Stay Visible to Recruiters ↳ Turn on the “Open to Work” feature (without notifying your employer). ↳ Join relevant LinkedIn groups and contribute to discussions. ↳ Regularly update your skills and certifications. Recruiters are looking for experts, not just applicants. Be active, be valuable, and make them come to you. P.S. What’s one LinkedIn tip that worked for you?
