📚 Keeping records is important!!! ☎️ It has been a year since VA Officials decided to cut 10,000 positions across VA health care system. The goal was to cut these positions by attrition with focusing on administrative positions, not clinical positions serving Veterans. And to do so, vacant positions began to get abolished by having their position number deleted from the system as if they had never existed. 💡 Unfortunately, a great idea can’t be successful without the right operational approach in the field. As clinical, not administrative, positions who service Veterans directly became vacant they were automatically halted from being filled and after a month or two their position number would get abolished. ✍️ At the time, I led our team to start tracking all of our clinical positions, including their position numbers, to have a historical knowledge of what we might lose across our clinical operations. 📅 One year later, many of us in the field are now dealing with enormous amount of vacancies across positions that do service Veterans. Due to so many abolished position numbers, the official vacancy rate for my own Mental Health service is only 8%. Which is a great a vacancy rate if it was true. 🧮 Thanks to our diligent record keeping we know that our true vacancy rate is at 24%; which consists of 67 vacant positions, 63 of them are frontline staff (mostly therapists with a sprinkle of psychiatrists and schedulers who all interface with Veterans) and 4 clinical supervisors who also see Veterans for care. ✅ Keeping good records helps to tell a story of our clinical operations and provides a better understanding when it comes to our clinical capacity, productivity and utilization. #leadership #healthcare #keepingrecords #socialwork {image description: Nonbinary person smiling into the camera as they stand in the office. In the power industry, context is everything, and effective communication between engineering teams, site personnel, and management is essential to maintaining accurate records. As new technologies are introduced, how are you tracking changes, modifications and upgrades to your facilities? From protection systems and inverter settings to data center additions, we've seen it all. Being able to document these changes along with the reasoning behind decisions is critical.
