Why email is more valuable than social media for enrollment

Explore top LinkedIn content from expert professionals.

Summary

Email marketing is a direct way to communicate with people interested in your offerings, making it more valuable for enrollment than social media, where algorithms and fleeting trends can limit your reach. Unlike social platforms, building an email list means you own your audience and can nurture real relationships that lead to more sign-ups and sales.

  • Build your list: Offer something useful, like a free guide or webinar, to encourage people to sign up and give you their email address.
  • Nurture relationships: Regularly send helpful and personalized emails to keep your audience engaged, earning their trust over time.
  • Focus on conversions: Make it easy for subscribers to take the next step by including clear instructions and simple ways to enroll or get in touch.

In the last 2 months, I got on calls with 11 coaches They were all from different industries: • 2x Public Speaking • 3x Health & Fitness • 3x Social Media • Dating • Sales • Career But all of them had the same problem: "Their inability to make their audience open their wallets and pay for their coaching programs" Here are 3 common mistakes I noticed all of them make that's stopping them from monetizing their audience: 1️⃣ Not creating niche-specific content: They're trying to go viral. And when you focus on likes, views, and followers—you end up bringing a lot of people on your profile who don't care about your offer. The dopamine high is great for sure. But the metric that really matters is the $$$ in your bank. 2️⃣ Not having a high-value free opt-in This means that everyone who is visiting their LI/Instagram profile and website is just bouncing off and their details haven't been captured in their funnel/system. Here's why it can be a problem: They’ve not joined your program "yet" And there can be different reasons for that: ̐• Time: “I’ll join in the future, now is not the right time” • Credibility: “Is [you] the right person to help me?” • Value: “I can get this info for free on the internet" • Trust: “Will I get the results I’m looking for?” • Money: “This program is too expensive” But the fact that they were on your profile means that they were interested to some extent. And you can nurture them with free value to build trust & eventually convert them to your paid program. But how would you do that? You don’t have their email. Which is why a lead magnet is absolutely important. 3️⃣ Not leveraging Emails I’m going to let you live with these stats: • For every $1 spent on email marketing, you get a $38 return on average. • Email is 40x more effective than social media for customer acquisition. • Email marketing revenue worldwide is expected to reach $17.9 billion by 2027. • 60% of consumers reported that they have made a purchase as a result of a promotional email. Email is powerful, there's no denying it. So I hate to break it to coaches, but if you're not using email as part of your marketing strategy, you're behind.

Your Email List > Social Followers. Here’s Why Chasing likes won’t grow your bottom line. If you're still prioritizing social followers over email subscribers in 2025, you’re leaving serious revenue on the table. 5 Data-Backed Reasons Email > Social 1. You own your list  Social = rented audience.  Email = direct access. No algorithms. No platform risks.  2. Email = 4,200% ROI  $1 in = $42 out (avg.)  Compare that to 29% ROI for social (mainly via paid ads).  3. Engagement > Vanity Metrics  3–5% CTR in email vs. 1–2% on social media.  Segmentation = 50%+ higher CTR.  4. Long-Term Value Wins  Email subscriber = $45–$60/year in LTV.  Social follower? Nearly $0 without ads.  5. Real Brands. Real Results.  WPBeginner: 600% list growth = 3x revenue  E-comm brand: 95k subs = $1.2M in email-driven sales  Adam Enfroy: 17% product conversion via email    3 Steps to Maximize Your List  Convert followers → lead magnets, popups, and exit-intent offers  Segment & personalize → tailor content to interests  Automate revenue → cart abandonment + re-engagement flows  Email isn’t just a channel. It’s your most valuable asset.  Invest in your list—because algorithms don’t pay the bills.  #EmailMarketing #GrowthStrategy #DigitalMarketing #ListBuilding #MarketingROI #LeadGeneration #OptinMonster #MarketingAutomation

I sent out 2 texts and 3 emails and it resulted in making $18k in one day. So before you post on socials… Send the email. I used to think more followers = more business. But  I spent months growing my platforms organically… 18,000 on tiktok 875 person facebook group 2,500 followers on facebook 800 instagram followers To make less than $18k in 6 months. What a difference my email list made, don't you think? A viral social media following was not the key to growth. The algorithm decides who sees your content, and most of your followers never do. So, I built a system that didn’t rely on luck. Or slaving my hours out to the algorithm. Instead of chasing likes, I focused on email marketing — a direct line to the people who actually want to buy. Here's how I do it: 1. Teach First, Sell Later ↳ Use emails to educate, not just promote. ↳ Share valuable insights that make people trust you as an expert. ↳ Build authority by solving real problems. 2. Nurture, Don’t Neglect ↳ Your audience needs time—stay in touch consistently. ↳ Personalize your emails so people feel like you’re talking to them, not at them. ↳ Give value first, then make an offer when the time is right. 3. Make Buying Simple ↳ Clear call-to-actions: What’s the next step? Spell it out. ↳ Remove friction—booking a call or buying should take seconds, not effort. ↳ Follow up because most people need reminders before they say yes. The result? More leads, more conversions, and more control. Social media is great for visibility, but email is where real sales happen. My advice? Build your list. Nurture your leads. Sell like crazy. #emailmarketing #emailautomation #Revenueoperations I'll be sharing tips about the best practices on opt-in campaigns this Saturday in my Newsletter. Join my Saturday Inbox Insiders. Tired of chasing ever-changing algorithms and platform updates? Here's a reality check: While we've all been scrambling to keep up with the latest social media trends, email marketing has been quietly generating $42 for every $1 spent. Let that sink in. Even more impressive: 52% of consumers made a purchase directly from an email in 2023. Not from social media. Not from ads. From email. Why does this matter for your business? Simple: Unlike social platforms where you're at the mercy of algorithms, your email list is an asset YOU own. It's your direct line to customers who WANT to hear from you. The numbers don't lie: - 4.5 billion email users worldwide (and growing) - 88% check their email multiple times daily - 320% more revenue from automated emails vs. non-automated 🔑 Key Takeaway: While other channels become increasingly volatile, email marketing remains the steady foundation of successful digital marketing strategies. Ready to stop renting your audience and start owning it? #DigitalMarketing #EmailMarketing #BusinessGrowth #MarketingROI #SmallBusiness

I had a client ask me yesterday: "Why should I care about email marketing when social media gets more visibility?" My answer: "Because email is the only channel you actually own." Think about it: Instagram algorithm changes? Your reach drops overnight. TikTok gets banned? Your audience vanishes. Facebook ad costs spike? Your CAC doubles. But your email list? You control who sees it You own the relationship You decide the content You set the schedule You build equity The average ROI on email marketing is $42 for every $1 spent. Yet most brands treat it as an afterthought. They pour thousands into platforms they don't control, while neglecting the channel they do.

Invest where your audience really is: their inbox. Here's why email marketing still reigns supreme. 💌 Social media platforms are powerful, but they don’t belong entirely (or even mostly) under your control. Algorithms shift, platforms rise and fall (hello, TikTok?), and one sudden change can leave you scrambling. Your email list, though? That’s yours. Every email address represents someone who chose YOU. They handed over their inbox—a space they guard fiercely. That’s not just access; that’s trust. But with trust, there’s responsibility. -> Respect their time.  -> Offer value, not noise.  -> Build relationships, not just campaigns. Email marketing isn’t flashy, but its value is timeless. Social media may grab attention, but email builds connections that last. Social media is still essential, but don’t let your strategy rely on rented land. Focus on growing and nurturing an audience you truly own. How are you treating your inbox audience? Are you making their trust worth every click?

Your social media following isn’t yours. Your email list is. I see businesses obsessing over social media growth—chasing followers, tweaking algorithms, and hoping the next post finally goes viral. But here’s the reality: Social media is rented space. You don’t own it. You’re at the mercy of shifting algorithms, platform changes, and policies you have zero control over. That Instagram audience? Gone if your account gets suspended. That LinkedIn reach? Slashed if the algorithm decides to prioritize something else. That TikTok growth? Useless if the platform is banned. But an email list? That’s owned media. It’s direct access to your audience, no middleman. No algorithm dictating whether your message gets seen. No guessing games about reach. And before you say, “Email is dead”—it’s not. Email is personal. It lands in inboxes, not endless feeds. Email is intentional. People sign up because they want to hear from you. Email converts. It consistently outperforms social media for actual sales. So while you’re building an audience on rented land, don’t forget to build one in a place you own. Social media gets attention. Email builds relationships. The best strategy? Use both—but never rely on someone else’s platform to control your business. Are you actively growing your email list, or are you still at the mercy of the algorithm?

🔌 The hidden danger of building your audience on rented land... I see it all the time. Creators and businesses pouring EVERYTHING into social media followers. Thousands of hours crafting content. Endless algorithm chasing. Celebrating follower milestones. But here's the uncomfortable truth: You don't own those connections. The platforms do. And they're slowly suffocating your reach with every passing month. Why? Because social platforms face three inevitable challenges: 1. Content saturation (more posts competing for the same attention) 2. Follower inflation (10,000 followers today means less than it did 3 years ago) 3. Declining organic reach (platforms need to monetize your audience access) It's not personal. It's just business. But guess what? This is EXACTLY why EMAIL remains the marketing backbone of virtually every successful business. With email, you OWN the connection. No algorithm changes. No platform can take it away. Direct access to your audience, on your terms. Think about it: Why do companies still aggressively pursue your email address year after year, despite increasing difficulty? Because they understand a fundamental truth: → Borrowed audiences eventually get expensive → Owned audiences compound in value over time The most successful businesses don't just build social followings. They convert those followers into direct connections they control. So ask yourself: If Instagram, TikTok or LinkedIn disappeared tomorrow (or just changed their algorithm again), would you still have a way to reach your audience? If not, you don't have an audience. You have a dependency. Start building your email list today. Your future self will thank you.

You’re posting on social media..but you’re not getting any inbound business from it. Then this post is for you. ↓ Every successful online builder is actively building an email list. Justin Welsh Simon Squibb Codie Sanchez Matt Gray Tim Denning Nick Huber Alex Hormozi etc, etc…. Why? NO ONE wants to be controlled by algorithms on social media = people want ownership AND Because email marketing is up to 40x more effective than social media when it comes to turning leads into customers. ✅ By owning an email list, you control how you reach your audience. ❌ Social media? Not so much. Social media algorithms are constantly changing, and you don't control those platforms. And don’t get me wrong, social media is a must to enable people to FIND you. But to convert people to clients: an email list is much more effective. With email, you’ve got a direct line to your people. You can nurture those relationships without relying on third-party platforms. No middleman, no algorithm changes. You’re talking straight with them. If you’re not building an email list, you’re missing out on one of the most effective ways to monetize your audience, and build a business. So, how do you go from having followers to building a loyal email list and turning them into paying customers? Here are a few actionable tips to get you started ↓ 1️⃣ Create Irresistible Lead Magnets Offer something of value in exchange for their email address. It can be a: - free guide - checklist - webinar - exclusive content …make sure it speaks directly to your audience’s pain points or desires. 2️⃣ Launch a newsletter on Beehiiv You can literally start one today. 3️⃣ Use Social Media to Promote Your Email List Don’t just share your lead magnet once → talk about it OFTEN. Tell your followers what they’re missing if they’re not on your list. Add some urgency or offer a bonus to get them to subscribe. Make it a part of your system. 4️⃣ Nurture with Consistent, Valuable Content Once they’re on your list, don’t just sell. Give them content they can actually use. And LEARN from. The more value you provide, the more trust you’ll build, and the more likely they are to buy from you down the line. Show people you understand them. Make yourself the go-to. Many people think they should do the opposite: Keep things behind a wall until people buy. ❌ That won’t build your business and it won’t build your email list. ✅ Share loads of value, and you will get more customers. 👉 Treat your emails list like an a$$et Treat your email list like the valuable asset it is. Ask for input. Encourage people to reach out. Make an effort to understand and respect people’s time. Don’t write super long essays (no on has time). Write newsletter editions people can skim read. Show up regularly in their inbox. Want examples how? 👉 Go here (it's free): https://lnkd.in/dUPYinYi
