Have you ever walked through a checkout line at Target or any supermarket and been like WTF? Why is everything strategically placed to make my kids go "Daddy, can I have....?" If you haven't noticed how every inch of a retail environment is designed to pull us in and make us say "YES!", then you're missing out on some powerful lessons in creativity and flow. This isn't just about shopping; it's a masterclass in creating a trade show experience. When we're talking about targeting pipeline and revenue, the meetings held are often a key indicator of driving pipeline. But let's be honest, the meeting areas aren't showstoppers. They're tucked into a corner or on the back of the booth. If we consider the path to those meeting areas, think of it like navigating a checkout line. The path to get to those meeting areas can be a huge selling point. Especially if that path is designed to be like a checkout line. Those Michael's craft stores are my biggest nemesis! The maze of tempting things for my kids - dolls, candy, trinkets galore! It's infuriating (ok, maybe I'm being dramatic...) and brilliant. I probably say no more times in that 50 square feet of the store than I do all day. And that's the type of appeal we should be bringing to a booth design and flow. Intrigue, entice, and appeal to your clients' senses as you guide them through your space. Because we all want to say "yes" more? This is a great way to prime an even bigger yes in a meeting. Here are four clear steps to design a better booth flow: 🏁Understand Your "Checkout Line" Moment: Just like the checkout line at a store, your booth should strategically guide visitors through an enticing journey. Identify key areas where you want to draw attention and create intrigue. Consider what makes people say "YES!" in a retail environment and apply those principles to your booth design. 🌎Map Out the Path: Before designing your booth, map out the ideal flow. Start from the entrance and envision the journey to the meeting areas. Think about how to create a zigzag maze of intrigue. The pathways should have strategically placed attractions along the way. 🛑Create Tempting Stops: Just like the dolls, candy, and trinkets in a store, create tempting stops along the path. Use visuals, technology, and hands-on experiences to appeal to visitors' senses and keep them engaged as they move through the booth. 🍾🎉Design for a "Big Yes" Moment: The ultimate goal is to lead visitors to your meeting areas with a sense of excitement and anticipation. While meeting areas are often tucked away, make the journey there a highlight. Design the path to build up to a "Big Yes" moment—the culmination of their experience where they're primed to be receptive. -------------------- Hi, I'm Jay Designing experiences for trade shows that drive ROI for our clients. #business #branding #sales #marketing #eventprofs

Strategically implementing experiential rituals at the retail level can directly impact consumer loyalty and your bottom line. How?  By intentionally curating immersive, impactful touchpoints to increase customer dwell time. The longer people interact with your product and brand, the more likely they are to purchase. This is not just confined to online spaces, measuring the length of time a visitor spent on your webpage. IRL experiences, like content playgrounds and in-store pop-ups, offer greater opportunities to appeal to all the senses. This rationale informs every experience GRADIENT’s team of visionaries curates for our brands. When we partnered with Urban Decay Cosmetics’ incredible team to launch their Vice Lip Bond lipstick line, we strategically leveraged a range of components to increase guest dwell time: ◆ Eye-catching fluorescent and vintage TV installations created an exciting, nostalgic mood for visitors. ◆ The attendance of content creators, influencers, and public figures, like Euphoria’s Chloe Cherry, generated social buzz around the experience, enticing guests to stay at the same venue as other high-profile attendees. ◆ The latest tech tools allowed us to create unique content-capture opportunities for attendees integrating branded filters, retro Polaroids, and compelling teasers. Immersive touch points equal profound and personal bonds between you and your audience. The clock is ticking with each moment a person engages with you. As time passes, they become primed for loyalty through positive associations, personalization, and emotional connection. Optimizing customer dwell time through captivating touchpoints is just one of many elements Gradient’s team considers before launching an activation. 𝐁𝐞 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐢𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧.
