Too Much To Do and To Little Time to Do It….Ugh Monday is tomorrow!  When can you catch a break ! From being a combat veteran  To being a husband and father  To CISO, business executive and CEO Stress can get out of control – I like to use Sundays as a time for focused personal development. From reading a book to Rucking (or other heavy workouts) to journaling about what I am grateful for. Sundays are a great time to pause and see the bigger picture. Strategic Reflection Session: Dedicate 60 minutes each Sunday to reflect on the past week's critical decisions, their reasoning, and outcomes. Analyze how these align with your broader life and career objectives. This deliberate reflection aids in developing deeper strategic insights and enhances the ability to predict and manage future challenges. Learning from Diverse Fields: Every other week, commit to reading or attending a seminar outside your usual field of expertise but relevant to leadership, cybersecurity, or relationships. Delve into behavioral economics, military strategy, or organizational psychology to broaden your perspective, strengthen your strategic thinking, and improve your capability to identify and mitigate complex security issues. Self-Awareness: Closely to your inner dialogue, particularly during stressful or negative moments. Identify recurring thought patterns, such as tendencies to catastrophize or self-criticize. Approach these thoughts with curiosity rather than judgment, and understand their impact on your emotions and behavior. Evidence Examination: Question the validity of your negative thoughts. Assess the evidence supporting these beliefs and consider alternative viewpoints. Reminding yourself of past achievements and strengths can counteract negative assumptions and help you view situations more objectively. Narrative Change: Words can shape reality, making it essential to transform your internal narrative. Shift from negative or critical self-talk to more positive or neutral language, fostering a mindset of learning and growth rather than failure and inadequacy. Perspective Shift: Offer yourself the same compassion and advice you would give a friend in a similar situation. This shift towards a more empathetic and realistic view of your circumstances can lead to a more balanced and positive outlook. Present-Moment Focus: Concentrate on the present to break free from the cycle of negative thoughts tied to past regrets or future anxieties. Mindfulness practices help you stay focused now, enhance your awareness of the immediate environment, and promote mental stability. Incorporating these practices into your Sunday routine can lead to significant personal and professional growth, enabling you to approach life with a more strategic, informed, and positive mindset. Sundays can be challenging for entrepreneurs and startup founders. While others relax and recharge for the upcoming workweek, our minds are still buzzing with ideas and plans for our ventures. However, Sundays also present a valuable opportunity to reflect, strategize, and prepare for the week ahead. Sundays - A Day of Reflection and Planning for Entrepreneurs 📆 Here are some tips on how I aim to make the most of my Sundays as an entrepreneur: 👉 Take time to reflect - Review the past week objectively. What went well that you should continue? What can be improved? Reflection provides perspective and helps me refine my approach. 🤔 👉 Spend time thinking big picture - It's easy to get lost in day-to-day minutiae. Sundays are a chance to think more broadly about my vision and goals for my company. Taking a step back helps identify new opportunities. 🚀 👉 Organize and prioritize for the week - I spend time planning my objectives and to-do list for the coming week. Organizing minimizes wasted time and ensures I'm focused on the highest priorities and big picture goals. 📝 👉 Spend time with loved ones - Entrepreneurship requires sacrifice. Sundays are a reminder to take a break and enjoy personal time with family and friends. This recharges my motivation and perspective. ❤️ 👉 Exercise and self-care - I try to get in some physical activity on Sundays. Exercise provides a mental break while also boosting energy and focus for the busy week ahead. 🏋️♀️ 👉Spend time in nature - Getting outside and spending time in nature clears my mind and provides a new perspective. A break from technology is rejuvenating. 🌲 While often overlooked, leveraging Sundays properly is vital for successful entrepreneurship. Taking time to reflect, strategize, and recharge sets me up for a productive week. How do you aim to utilize your Sundays as an entrepreneur? What tips do you have to share? Sunday night anxiety comes from Sunday afternoon avoidance. Here's what I've learned after years of working with high-performers: The dread isn't about Monday. It's about going into battle without a battle plan. Competitors spend 15 minutes every Sunday on this simple ritual: 1. Review your calendar for the week ahead 2. Identify the ONE meeting that needs the most preparation 3. List the THREE most significant outcomes needed this week 4. Block 60-90 minutes for those priorities BEFORE Monday hits This small window of Sunday planning does two things: 1️⃣ Eliminates the Sunday scaries 2️⃣ Converts anxiety into a strategic advantage I started doing this five years ago. Sunday nights created excitement because I knew exactly how I'd attack the week. The difference between competing and reacting? Fifteen minutes of intentional planning. Most people spend more time planning their Netflix queue than their upcoming week. Don't be most people. #WeekendsSeparateWinners #CompeteEveryDay #CompetitorMindset #GrowthMindset #LeadershipCoaching

How I decreased anxiety and increased productivity with a simple Sunday night routine. Here it goes: 1. Set aside 20-30 minutes to journal - Wins and accomplishments last week - Mistakes and lessons learned last week - Top 5 professional & personal goals this week 2. Clear out loose paper, notes, etc. - Toss as much out as possible - Capture outstanding action items in Asana - Clean desktop from downloads & screenshots 3. Prep for Monday - Bag packed + in the car - Clothes / keys laid out ready to go - Bible + journal on the coffee maker - Skillet, plate, fork, water & coffee cup out - Daily supplements prepped and easy to grab That covers it. 20-30 minutes journaling Clear out loose paper / notes Prep for Monday It’s not rocket science. But it works for me. How about you? What’s your Sunday night routine? Questions / comments welcomed. As always. P.S.
