I've received a few questions on this, so thought I'd share 5 ways I'm using AI in my day-to-day at work to boost productivity, insight, and strategic clarity: Benchmarking: I use AI daily to quickly validate metrics and performance benchmarks. For instance, when reviewing email open rates, I ask ChatGPT (and other LLMs) for industry benchmarks segmented by email types, industries and content. This provides immediate clarity on performance against the rest, and I can see if we're good, great, or have work to do. This information was hard to find or non-existent before and instantly helps builld context. Thought Partner: LLMs elevate my strategic thinking. Whether analyzing competitors or drafting new strategies, I leverage AI to rapidly identify gaps, assess my thoughts against frameworks like "Seven Powers," and run game theory on them with competitive response and market players. It uplevels my thinking and leads to more comprhensive considerations. Deepening Customer Insights: By processing sales call transcripts and meeting notes through AI, I can surface customer pain points and uncover new insights, which improves my understanding of customer needs, sales blockers and messaging that otherwise would be hard to come by. Writing Partner: I use AI to power my writing process—from refining documents to constructing logical, concise, and compelling arguments. It helps draft outlines, provides examples and proof-points to reinforce my assertions, and streamlines my writing. All-in it makes my writing better and faster. Automating Daily Tasks: I use AI-powered tools daily to track competitors, monitor market trends, and check-in on things I care about. It never stops working and so I always have this information available as needed. Today, AI is integral to about half of my workday. And this is just the beginning—there's even more potential to unlock with automations such as reviewing and drafting replies for my emails, prioritizing which documents to review next, and automated meeting prep. I took the train up to the office the other day and realized something: I am already using AI almost entirely throughout my day. It wasn’t a conscious shift. It just…happened. A year ago, most AI tools felt like novelty demos. Now? They actually work. Here are the standouts: Granola AI -> Meeting notes that write themselves Granola taps into system audio to record meetings for you so you don't end up with endless meeting bots. It works with every app. The notes I write down end up bolded amongst action items, key takeaways, and everything else. It's super simple and impressive. ChatGPT -> Research, insights, copywriter, thought partner. As an analyst, I’ve been using deep research to analyze markets. I’ll use canvas mode to help with editing, and lately, I’ve been talking to voice mode to help me clarify my thinking. Perplexity AI -> Troubleshooting I’ve found Perplexity particularly good when I run into a troubleshooting issue. The combination of search and how their model works has helped me fix tech issues in my life faster than the other options. Gyroscope -> An AI-powered health coach I snap a picture of my food, and it tells me what I need to know—without judgment. I can send in a menu for quick analysis. But more importantly, it takes my health data and helps drive insights and small changes in a way that would be impossible for a human to do. Cursor -> Writing code I haven’t written much code since high school. Now I have another tool at my disposal that allows me to communicate my thinking with interactive prototypes. It truly feels like magic to code something that would have been impossible for me to do quickly or well just a year ago. These aren’t just cool tools—they’re changing how I work. I'll be honest. Before joining Microsoft, I wasn't using AI in my daily work as much as I could have. I wasn’t skeptical, but I hadn’t yet embraced the full potential of integrating AI into my workflows. That has changed completely, and now, with tools like Copilot, I can’t imagine working without it. The most noticeable shift has been in how Copilot helps me prepare for meetings. Whether it's gathering insights from a series of documents, transcribing conversations, or pulling together key data points, it’s become an invaluable tool for streamlining my prep. I can dive straight into the substance of meetings with my team or customers, knowing that I’m fully backed by AI-generated insights that would have taken hours to compile. Thanks to Copilot, my team and I are freed up to focus on what truly matters—driving strategic initiatives forward—rather than getting bogged down in administrative tasks. Adding more AI tools won't fix broken workflows – it'll break them faster! I have seen too many companies and initiatives fall in the trap of the "paradox of generative AI". The real opportunity isn’t in accumulating AI tools or deploying yet another conversational assistant but in fundamentally rethinking how technology can amplify human potential. Here's the paradox of generative AI that many miss: while it makes content generation effortless, this ease of creation actually risks overwhelming workers with even more notifications, messages, and tasks that need attention. What's more, we're now seeing a new cognitive burden emerge. The proliferation of AI assistants isn't eliminating complexity – it's just shifting it. Instead of wondering "what do I need to search for?" users now face the constant question of "which assistant do I use for what task?" When organizations focus blindly on AI's generative capabilities without considering business outcomes, they can end up amplifying the very inefficiencies they're trying to solve. The key insight is that AI isn't a replacement for human expertise – it's an amplifier. Just as a telescope doesn't replace an astronomer's knowledge but extends their vision, AI tools should enhance our capabilities where we already work. There is a powerful convergence happening: productivity tools are becoming smarter with their AI companions and enterprise applications are becoming more automated with business agents. The key in all of this is meeting users where they already work, and not force them to adopt yet another tool. When we seamlessly integrate AI into their workflows we enable people to execute higher order tasks without breaking their rhythm or toggling across apps. Take the creative industry - when generative AI emerged, many feared it would replace creative professionals. Instead, it transformed them from creators to sophisticated curators, enabling co-innovation with clients and higher value work. This pattern extends across every sector: AI isn’t just a bottom-line enhancer finding efficiencies, but a top-line driver enabling people to focus on work they couldn’t get to before. When you break down any job, you’ll see tasks evolving just as they have over the past decade - only faster. Yup, I used AI to help me synthesize my original thoughts to write this post—there, I said it. I saw a post today recommending subtlety is always a good idea with a link to an article titled Words and Phrases that Make it Obvious You Used ChatGPT. Wait, what? Ever since ChatGPT was released more than two years ago, I've encouraged my team to use it as an acceleration tool to help them get things done faster. ChatGPT even helped me get my job at ServiceNow—I posted about that on LinkedIn over a year ago: https://lnkd.in/gS5k93eB I'm not sure why there's a stigma surrounding the use of genAI. It's no different than when spreadsheets replaced manual accounting or calculators took over from pencil-and-paper math. I'm grateful to work for a technology company that embraces AI and encourages employees to use it in their daily work. My car runs on full self-driving, thanks to AI, to get me to work, while I use AI chatbots on my phone to catch up on daily news and critical research, savoring coffee in hand and not worrying about merging or stop-and-go traffic. It helps me be laser-focused before I even walk through the door. Since my team started leveraging AI, I've seen an incredible acceleration in how quickly they can take action across tasks, reports, projects, and nearly everything else. It frees them up to focus on more critical activities, which is essential in the world of safety and security. AI has also enabled me to keep my team relatively small as we grow compared to other Fortune 500 physical security teams, as it is truly the great enabler of our lifetime. Instead of getting bogged down in endless meetings, AI-enabled note-taking now captures the minutes and feeds them directly into AI task tools, so every meeting has meaning and clear outcomes—no more gum flapping or pontification without follow-through. Don't you hate sitting through an hour-long meeting feeling like it was a complete waste of your time? Additionally, AI productivity tools help summarize emails, tasks, and projects, delivering easy-to-manage actions that drive real results rather than just busy work or noise. AI has given us back a significant amount of time to invest in higher-value work—or not working your evenings or weekends. It's time to "Take Back Your Life!" Shout out to Sally McGhee. Recently, one of my team members, at my request, researched two contractors that provide similar emergency evacuation services for employees. I gave him a simple task: do the Pepsi challenge and show me the differences side by side. Within minutes, he came back with a stellar research report, summarized clearly so I could make a confident decision. What I loved was that he started his research email with "used "AI"—something I also do routinely with my team whenever I use AI to summarize data or reports. There will always be a human in the loop to validate and assess, but with AI, it's just so much easier to get to the finish line. It's time to embrace the change.

AI's hype is everywhere, but its practical application is what truly matters. !! Unlike the self-driving car hype of a decade ago, AI's implementation in the real world is uniquely different. Over the past year, I've witnessed firsthand how AI can augment our capabilities at SJ Innovation. It may not replace our jobs, but it does serve as a powerful assistant, handling numerous tasks efficiently. Since OpenAI introduced the "OpenAI Assistant," we've created over 250 specialized assistants within our organization. Upon reviewing these AI assistants, I've come to realize they haven't replaced any jobs. Instead, they're akin to having a team of interns, each adept at performing specific tasks, saving us 10-15 minutes each time. If you're leveraging 5-10 such assistants, that's a savings of 1-2 hours per day — a significant boost to productivity that will only improve over time. Here are some unusual and small assistant example: 1) Attendance Analysis: Develop AI solutions to analyze attendance data across multiple files, generating comprehensive reports to identify patterns and optimize team schedules. Create and Used by: Admin/Hr department 2) Quality Assurance Report Review: Assist QA teams Assistant manager by tracking project hours versus contracted hours to prevent burnout and ensure optimal productivity. 3) QA/Test cases for Client Project: Upload client project data, past test cases and input new requirements. Result new cases 4) Convert my code to old Version of Cakephp: Client running an application with old version, write code and it convert to old version of cakephp 5) RFP helper: Upload All document about project and old RFP document and now it can help write based on client requirements and our past RFP My advice?
