Build better briefs, get insights faster, automate the grunt work—but make sure the final product sounds like you, not a bot. Create content only you could write. Tell real stories. Take a side. Show something an LLM can’t guess. “Unfakeable” is the new moat. Fight for visibility, not just rank. The top of Google isn’t a finish line, it’s just where the real competition starts. Optimize for snippets, FAQs, and anything that gets your brand seen. Track usefulness, not just traffic. “How many people care?” beats “How many people showed up?” every single time. Gut check: If your content could be written by anyone in three minutes, it can be replaced by AI in three seconds. If your answer to “what makes this valuable?” starts with “well, it’s 2,000 words…” rewrite it. Bottom line: AI didn’t kill content. It killed average content. Google just wrapped up its latest core update. It ran for 16 days and, like usual, shuffled the deck. Some sites that got hit back in 2023 saw a bit of a bounce back. But the real story isn’t rankings. It’s what’s replacing them. AI Overviews are showing up more often, especially on news and informational queries. In some verticals, they appear nearly 70 percent of the time. And most of those searches end without a single click. If your content isn’t being cited or quoted in those overviews, it doesn’t matter where you rank. You're not getting seen. This is the shift that’s catching a lot of marketers off guard. SEO isn’t dead, but it’s not the only visibility channel anymore. AI is rewriting the rules. While the human element of SEO might be irreplaceable, it’s clear AI is going to have a big influence on search. With the recent rollout of AI overviews by Google to everyone (a feature they’ve been testing for months), we’re seeing what could be one of the largest search changes yet. Essentially AI generated search results meant to provide quick answers, this could mean less traffic. As of right now the results don’t show where the content came from unless you click “show sources”. To adapt, it’s going to require some changes to how your content is structured. I’ll continue to stand on the same soapbox when it comes to creating valuable content, but here it’s going to be especially critical. In-depth, original content is where the opportunity to stand out lies. While still fairly new, here are some tips that can help your content be a part of the AI results: Structure your content for AI accessibility Make it easy for AI to tell what your piece is about. Continue to use semantic keywords but also make digestible—bullet points and headings go a long way.
