🌍 Today at #WTDC25 in Baku, we brought together governments, regulators and industry partners around a shared ambition: digital development for everyone. At our GSMA lunch reception, Chief Regulatory Officer John Giusti and ITU Secretary-General Doreen Bogdan-Martin both spoke about the progress we’ve made, and the urgency of the challenges that remain. 📶 Mobile is now the main way people access the internet, accounting for 84% of all connections. Yet more than a third of the world’s population is covered by mobile broadband but not using it. Closing this #usagegap is now one of the most pressing issues in digital development. 📱Both John and Doreen reflected on their recent visit to the eastern border of Chad - a powerful reminder that for people seeking safety, a mobile phone is often a vital link to family, information and essential services. 🤝 Tackling the barriers behind the usage gap, including device affordability, digital skills, relevant local content and reliable electricity, demands genuine partnership. No single organisation can do it alone, but together we can drive real impact. Thank you to everyone who joined us in Baku and continues to champion inclusive, meaningful connectivity. 📍Find us in the exhibition area at the Baku Convention Center To learn more about how we can close the usage gap, visit our website: https://lnkd.in/ewN_Du4C #DigitalInclusion #UsageGap #BreakingBarriers International Telecommunication Union
