What happens when you build at YC speed, but ship without guardrails? With Simon Maple, René Brandel, CEO of Casco (YC X25), breaks down the security reality behind vibe-coded features. They explore: • why small teams can now build mission-critical software faster than ever • how rapid iteration creates compounding risk in large organizations • why future security testing must start from an offensive perspective Watch now. Link in the comments.

  • In software engineering, AI is either a big productivity-booster, or a chaotic compromise on quality – depending on who you ask. However, a new report suggests both sides in that debate could be right. "AI-assisted engineering: Q4 impact report" is the first in a new quarterly series from DX, and while the findings indicate that the vast majority of developers now use AI coding tools and report saving several hours a week, the gains come with mixed results for code maintainability and reliability. Key takeaways developers should care about: ⚡Daily AI users ship materially more PRs — but the quality deltas aren’t consistently positive. 🧩Only ~22–24% of merged code is actually “AI-authored,” far below the hype. 🚀 Faster onboarding is real: AI users hit early productivity milestones almost 2× faster. Curious — which signal matters more to you right now: speed or long-term maintainability? 🔗Read the story in full here: https://ainativedev.co/0dr #AINativeDev #AIEngineering

A spec-centric AI-native dev conference? Yes please. I was lucky enough to score a ticket to DevCon in Brooklyn today, where some rad AI-dev experts spoke on Spec-driven development & related topics. Standout talks: - Guy Podjarny founder of Tessl - on Multiplayer spec-driven dev - Al Harris The lead developer for AWS Kiro - on spec evolution - Alexandru Gavrilescu - showing off his Backlog.md software (agentic task/spec management). Thanks to Baptiste Fernandez for the ticket, AI Native Dev, Tessl, and all the sponsors for an awesome event.

    Product Manager | AI & Spec-Driven Agentic Development | Ex-Estée Lauder · Razorfish · Goldman Sachs

Enjoyed learning at AI Native Dev what Jake Levirne and the SpecStory, Inc. team is building to capture engineering decisions *intent* (why, what, how) with real-time traceability to feed Agentic development context - certainly on the cusp of what's needed to exponentially grow the speed and quality of technical outcomes. More excited about the roadmap to empower Product teams to produce function/non-functional specs in the connected development environments to generate technical requirements / prototyping for engineers, followed by translating relevant structured context tailored for different teams to align stakeholders.

Co-Founder of SpecStory | Building with AI everyday

A lot of folks don’t really understand what we’re building at SpecStory. And that’s our fault. We talk about “intent” and “decision graphs”.  Like everyone else lives in that world. But here’s the simple version:  • Devs using agents can generate code faster than humans can review, digest and understand. This problem will compound.  • The real problem is remembering 𝘄𝗵𝘆 something was written, 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 decisions led to it, and 𝗵𝗼𝘄 it fits with everything else.  • All the tools we use (Git, Jira, Slack, etc.) were built for humans, not this new human + agent world. So we started small. We've built extensions that let people save the thinking behind the code their reasoning and prompts (the decisions). 140,000 people have installed them. That’s when it 𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗸𝗲𝗱: people care about capturing their intent. That was the signal. Now we’re building the next layer to make all that captured intent actionable.  • So your agents can use it as context.  • Your teammates can understand your reasoning.  • And your organization can stop losing its mind when you ship with AI. That it. Thats what we're building toward. --- P.S. We're #hiring founding AI Engineers. DM me if this problem space interests you.
