While I think I'm doing the right thing on social, I've just alienated most of my audience

Today I saw a post on Linkedin and ….. oh dear

Everybody is on social today, from the CEO, in fact all of the employees

Research from Linkedin shows that employees get 561% more engagement than brands

It stands to reason, I come to social media to be social 

If I wanted “corporate propaganda” I would go to your website 

As more and more of us are being told to “be social”

Take some photos and put them on social, what's the worst that can happen?

The problem is this comes with little or no training

Whereas we get trained on health and safety, inclusion and diversity, etc

But for some reason, nobody talks to us about social media

Especially when people can impact massive brand damage

What did I see today?

As sales leader posted a photo, that he was recruiting

Come and work for the dream team, he said

And there was the team in a photo from the last team meeting

The problem?

Al team members were white and male

Their arms were linked, in America, this would be seen as “bro culture”

So what?

A number of females came to me and said 

“I would never work for that company or that team, there is clearly nothing for me”

What would anybody else who wasn't white think?

Exactly the same?

Probably why people were using the “funny” emoji and LinkedIn

And that’s the point; intent doesn’t equal impact

In a world where everyone is being encouraged to “get social,” we can’t ignore the responsibility that comes with it

Without proper guidance, training, and awareness, well-meaning posts can send the wrong message and cause real harm to your brand, your culture, and your ability to attract diverse talent

Social media is powerful, but only when used with care, inclusivity, and emotional intelligence

So before you hit “post,” ask yourself: what story is this really telling — and to whom?

 

Can you drive revenue from social media?

Social selling is not about spamming people or inmails or connect and pitch

Great perspective, as usual, my friend...We send all kinds of messages on SM that have unintended consequences. But, a subject that I discuss quite often, we lack the self-awareness to recognize the photo of our "dream team" is all "old, white guys" and that just might discourage folks that aren't old, white or guys, from looking any further 提姆·休斯!

People socialize at the vibrational level that best describes their own vibrational state. What people see in something or someone, if it resonates with their vibe, they become attracted to the connection. My typical audiences are inmates and homeless people, folks with extreme social pain. As a caterer, these people, monetarily, offer nothing of value, but as teachers of human behavior and an understanding of how God works, they are the best in teaching me about nature and how nature unfolds. Here on Linkedin, I don’t find many people that interested in causality, non contradictory explanations of how the universe unfolds, such as the brain and consciousness. Also, a growth mindset is rare, this is because of how their brains have been programmed by their social networks. In my worldview, I have nearly zero relationships with people who would take on the challenges that I do. And also, contrastive thinking is not fun for them at all, to go down that highway would be really uncomfortable. My business clients are extremely wealthy, they are the 1%. I asked the other day, a 1%, if he would go with me to the shelter to see how my class works, he said no. I asked him if my backwards steering bicycle make him uncomfortable, too?
