A suite debut: American introduces the Airbus A321XLR with Flagship Suite® experience
American is elevating premium travel with the arrival of the Airbus A321XLR — and it’s making history as the first U.S. airline to operate the aircraft. Beginning Dec. 18, customers can experience the inaugural flight from New York (JFK) to Los Angeles (LAX), featuring American’s new Flagship Suite® seats in a three-cabin layout. Tickets are available starting Oct. 27 on aa.com and the American mobile app for select flights through Feb. 11, 2026.
Designed for long-haul comfort, the A321XLR features 20 Flagship Suite® seats with privacy doors, wireless charging and enhanced personal space, plus 12 Premium Economy seats and 123 Main Cabin seats. As American expands its fleet, the A321XLR will begin international service in 2026, offering a refined experience from check-in to touchdown — including access to the Greenwich Lounge™ experience at JFK and curated inflight amenities like luxury skincare kits, multicourse meals and cozy bedding.
This debut marks a major milestone in American’s commitment to premium travel, with plans to grow lie-flat and Premium Economy seating to 50% of its fleet by the end of the decade. Read more about the newest member of our fleet.
Unveiling our special livery✈️
American unveiled a special heritage livery that blends our iconic past with a modern twist. Debuting in November on a Boeing 777-300ER named Flagship DFW, the design features the bold orange lightning bolt first seen on the legendary Douglas DC-3, paired with American’s signature Silver Eagle® paint. The aircraft will soon feature a refreshed, luxurious interior.
This centennial tribute is more than a nod to history; it’s a celebration of American’s evolution and our commitment to premium travel. As we prepare to refresh the 777-300 fleet with Flagship Suite® seats and upgraded amenities, this aircraft will fly to global destinations as a symbol of where American has been and where it’s headed next.
Celebrating AAdvantage® members and the Chicago Cubs ⚾
During the Cubs end of season excitement, we brought a unique experience to Gallagher Way with a surprise performance by Chicago’s own John Summit. The first 100 AAdvantage® members in attendance enjoyed exclusive access to a private viewing area, merchandise, food and drinks — all just steps from Wrigley Field. John’s dad, ORD-based American pilot Capt. John Schuster, also helped to make the day even more memorable.
To keep the celebration going, we gave away 1,000,000 AAdvantage® miles each time the Cubs won — a winning experience for fans and flyers alike.
Small planes, big upgrades ✨✈️
We're redefining regional travel with a fresh new look and feel across our regional fleet — the largest of any U.S. carrier. Starting this fall, customers will enjoy refreshed interiors, fast gate-to-gate Wi-Fi and power at every seat, bringing the comfort and connectivity of mainline aircraft to short-haul journeys. With complimentary Wi-Fi for AAdvantage® members launching in January and a full fleet retrofit underway, American is making sure every mile, no matter the distance, feels premium.

It’s been very disappointing for you to suspend flight 194 and 195 for 6 mos now two years in a row. The flight is almost always sold out and I’m sure the same is true for cargo.
