We unveil our new brand: All kinds of useful
Origin has unveiled a fresh new look, with an updated brand identity and a clear new direction: All kinds of useful.
Origin Chief Marketing Officer Catherine Anderson says: “All kinds of useful is more than just a campaign or tagline - it’s a promise today to our customers, communities, people, and planet that we’re here to help. We want Aussies to see Origin as the useful utility. One they can trust to deliver simple, smarter products and services, help keep bills under control, be there for our communities when it matters most, and lead Australia’s transition to cleaner energy.”
Our national campaign is now live – you’ll see us on TV, outdoor billboards, online, in cinemas, and on radio. Plus, stay tuned for exciting new partnerships rolling out throughout the year.
So Watt? podcast is back for a third season
Following two successful seasons, Origin’s award-winning podcast, So Watt, is back for its third season, this time hosted by the financially-savvy Emma Edwards from The Broke Generation. This 10-part season will dive into making smart, energy-efficient choices in every room of the house – from draught-proofing and energy-efficient appliances to electric vehicles, solar power, and more.
Since launching in 2020, So Watt? has attracted tens of thousands of listens and was named 'Best Branded Podcast' at the 2023 radiotoday.com.au Podcast Awards. The podcast was created to simplify the complex world of energy, offering the inside scoop to help Australians make simple - or bigger - tweaks to their energy habits.

Welcoming new graduates, apprentices, and trainees - plus celebrating a veteran
This month, we welcomed our 2025 graduate intake into our three-year program, which includes on-the-job learning, role rotations, technical training, mentoring, and unique development opportunities. It’s all about giving our grads the chance to build a strong technical foundation while gaining valuable business experience across the business.
We also welcomed our latest apprentices and trainees across our upstream gas operations, including seven women and four First Nations recruits. They’re all ready to bring fresh ideas and play a key role in shaping the future of energy. We’re proud to invest in the next generation of energy professionals and ensure we have a strong, skilled workforce.
On the other side of the career journey, we also celebrated one of our longest-serving team members, Daniel Hoelscher, who has been working at Brisbane’s Bulwer Island LPG Terminal for 39 years. As he nears retirement, he’s passing on decades of expertise to the next generation.
Celebrating Eraring’s legacy and impact
At the start of this month, past and present Eraring Power Station employees, their families, and local community members came together to celebrate the station’s legacy and lasting impact. For more than 40 years, Eraring has provided secure, reliable energy to homes and businesses across NSW.
Fully commissioned in 1984, Eraring was, and remains, Australia’s largest power station, with a capacity of 2,922 MW. It was also one of the first power stations to be integrated into the state’s electricity ‘supergrid,’ ensuring a stable power supply across NSW.
About 500 people attended the Eraring celebration, enjoying local entertainment, tours of the facility, displays, and food trucks. It was a chance to reflect on Eraring’s critical role in powering NSW and to honour the dedicated people behind its operation and maintenance. As part of the event, we also launched a 'historical archive' page to preserve the legacy of Australia’s largest coal-fired power station.
Supporting Australia’s energy security with more domestic gas supply
Origin’s joint venture, Australia Pacific LNG (APLNG) continues to play a key role in supporting Australia’s energy security, this month extending its domestic gas supply agreement under the Government’s Gas Code of Conduct.
Under the agreement, APLNG will offer up to 40 petajoules of gas - ten petajoules a year for four years - helping to ensure stable supply from 2026 to 2029.
Since production began in early 2015, APLNG has been a major contributor to the east coast domestic gas market, supplying around a third of annual demand. So far this year, APLNG has already committed approximately 128PJ to the domestic market through existing contracts and offered an additional 77PJ. In 2024, it contributed 154PJ. Read more here.
Innovative battery technology to be piloted at Eraring
Back in 2023, Origin acquired five per cent equity interest in Newcastle based clean-tech company Allegro Energy and agreed to a pilot of their long duration battery at Eraring Power Station. This month, we joined Allegro as they unveiled Australia’s first locally-manufactured microemulsion flow battery – a non-flammable, cost-effective and grid-scale battery technology.
The microemulsion electrolyte technology developed by Allegro is seen as a pivotal advancement in long-duration energy storage, offering improvements in scalability, sustainability, and performance over current technologies. The first major installation of this technology is planned for our Eraring Power Station, before we begin exploring further rollout to customer sites.
